## Eclipse Che Reviews
  ### 1. Cloud-Based Dev Workspaces That Make Onboarding Fast and Consistent.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anil k. | Full-stack Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Eclipse Che?**

What I like most about Eclipse Che is its cloud-based development environment, which makes it easy to start coding without worrying about local setup. It provides fully configured, reproducible workspaces, so onboarding new developers becomes much faster and more consistent

**What do you dislike about Eclipse Che?**

While Eclipse Che is powerful, one downside is that it can feel complex to set up and manage, especially for smaller teams or developers who aren’t familiar with Kubernetes or container-based workflows.

Performance can also be a concern at times—since it’s browser-based and depends on network and cluster resources, it may feel slower compared to a well-optimized local development setup.

**What problems is Eclipse Che solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Eclipse Che solves the problem of inconsistent and time-consuming development environment setup. In many teams, onboarding can take hours or days due to dependency issues and “works on my machine” problems.

It provides cloud-based, containerized workspaces that are pre-configured and reproducible, ensuring every developer works in the same environment. This eliminates setup friction and reduces environment-related bugs.

For me, the biggest benefit is faster onboarding and improved productivity. I can start working on a project almost instantly without worrying about local configuration. It also makes collaboration easier, since environments can be shared and standardized across the team.

  ### 2. Free, Stable Eclipse for Java: Solid Debugging and Built-In Tools

I'd recommend Eclipse if you're mostly doing Java it's free stable and really good for college or big projects.Debugging is solid and everything you need comes builtin so you can just focus on coding
without setup headaches.
And also it not only tells the error it shows alternative also and shows how the error can be fixed

**What do you dislike about Eclipse Che?**

I don't think there is any dislike about it but you should have a rough idea how to use it then it's a cake walk.

**What problems is Eclipse Che solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Actually I am an engineering students and sometimes face issues while coding and errors are common while doing big projects so it helps me a lot while doing big project it tells alternate ways and resolves problem also explains it.

  ### 3. A powerful and collaborative cloud-based development environment

**Reviewed by:** Jose Alejandro P. | Sr Integration developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Eclipse Che?**

What I like most about Eclipse Che is the ability to work with fully configurable and reproducible development environments directly from the browser. The predefined workspaces make it easy to start projects without installing local dependencies, which saves time and avoids errors. Its strong integration with Kubernetes and containers adds a lot of flexibility for distributed teams. The real‑time collaboration features are also extremely valuable.

**What do you dislike about Eclipse Che?**

While Eclipse Che is very useful, its performance can be affected when using heavy workspaces or complex configurations. Sometimes the initial loading time takes longer than expected. The learning curve may also be a bit steep for developers coming from traditional desktop IDEs, and certain integrations require additional manual adjustments.

**What problems is Eclipse Che solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Eclipse Che helps me solve the issue of inconsistent development environments across team members. Previously, each developer configured their machine differently, causing hard-to-reproduce errors. With Eclipse Che, we all work in identical workspaces, which reduces configuration time, dependency issues, and onboarding friction. It also improves mobility, since I can continue working from any device with internet access.

its easy to use, because due to it runs in the system browser, it turns any device into a workstation.

**What do you dislike about Eclipse Che?**

The biggest problem is that Che requires Kubernetes. and you can’t just 'install' it with a double-click.

**What problems is Eclipse Che solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When you ask me to analyze or debug the written code within a Che-managed environment, I know exactly what dependencies are present. It eliminates the 'missing library' guesswork.

  ### 5. A Solid, If Slightly Aged, Workhorse for Developers

**What do you like best about Eclipse Che?**

Eclipse shines in some areas. It’s open-source, highly customizable, and supports a wide variety of programming languages with plugins. If you’re working in Java, especially in enterprise settings, Eclipse still feels like home. The support for Maven, Git, and debugging tools is solid, and once you have your workspace and preferences set up, it can be quite efficient.

**What do you dislike about Eclipse Che?**

That said, Eclipse has its quirks. It can feel sluggish at times, especially when handling large projects. The UI, while functional, feels outdated compared to more modern editors like VS Code or IntelliJ IDEA. And plugin management—while powerful—can sometimes be a bit of a maze.

**What problems is Eclipse Che solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No more “it works on my machine” issues. Everyone uses the same environment.

Easy to onboard new developers—just open a link.

Works from anywhere, no setup needed.

Eclipse Che constantly crashes, which can really disrupt workflow. It also does not run smoothly most times. It lags and freezes more times than not, so you will need really good RAM and CPU in order for this to work properly for you. Eclipse che is great for reducing the time to setup the developer environment for new onboarding. Earlier it used to take atleast 1 week to get all the development tools installed. With eclipse che that time have reduced to 1 days.

**What do you dislike about Eclipse Che?**

As it is decentralised it requires stable internet connection at low internet speed it lags sometimes. But at enterprise level usually this issue is minimal and can be ignored.

**What problems is Eclipse Che solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps in reducing the time taken to setup the development environment. It makes sure that all developvers are using same version hence avoid version mismatch issues.

**What do you like best about Eclipse Che?**

Working on eclipse che is always such a delight! The interface is user-friendly and very easy to navigate, and the overall performance of the IDE is very smooth and easy to understand even for a beginner.

**What do you dislike about Eclipse Che?**

The fact that we can work on it offline and that it provides multiple option to be used, not just as an IDE but something of a jupyter notebook dupe makes it all the more convinient. It's the best of both worlds!
