"Great place for beginners to start!"
What do you like best about Codecademy?

Code Academy is a great place to start for beginners looking to gain a basic understanding of coding/programming. I have used this platform to begin learning basics of Python and Java and found the courses to provide a great baseline of information. I have only used the free courses for these two subjects, and it's comparable to similar online coding classes I've used. I have never paid for a course. The forums have been pretty helpful for questions during courses and clarification on subjects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codecademy?

It can be a little difficult to really learn from Code Academy, though I am unsure whether that's a reflection of Code Academy or online learning as a whole. It presents basic principles, but I feel that there is a lot missing and a big learning curve that the courses fail to bridge. As someone who has a technical background through my education, I find a lot of the intro level courses are pretty bare so I can't imagine how I would learn if I did not have my previous background. I have never used the bootcamps or paid courses, though what I have seen from the free courses does deter me a bit from wanting to pay! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Learn Programming step by step."
What do you like best about Codecademy?

Excellent learning platform, I love the teaching methods that it has since while it teaches you can go practice, I adore the learning panel that shows as it segmented very well the sections of reading, writing code and result, it is very didactic and simple , you can also find all kinds of programming language courses and frameworks, I am surprised also its load on the page, this differentiates it very well from other pages of courses, the truth is very interactive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codecademy?

The progress depends a lot on the internet connection, if you do not have access to the network you can not do any course, also many times the code writing panel fails because it does not show the result properly and also when you manage to complete the challenge do not correct mark until reloading the page. "Need pest control with all the bugs"
What do you like best about Codecademy?

The concept. That is the only thing that I like about the website. The idea is great. The implementation is horrible and frustrating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codecademy?

My letter to codecademy reflecting my views on their service.

First having people actually read your question second people that can actually help.instead of generically pointing you to a forum where other users can do the job of your customer service rep. I have sense stopped using your service and moved to a better site to learn coding in python. Your platform is buggy the lessons are worded horribly and customer service is virtually no existent to issues. Also the moderators in the forums have been snippy at times. I will be going across the web and leaving reviews wherever I can to show my disappointment with your service. People do not need to spend money on something that is broken. I cannot stand it. Do the devs over there even thing about the consequences of what you are doing? Imagine 100 people come to learn how to code. Out of that hundred 30 of them experience bugs in your website and think "coding is way to freaking hard for me" they quit and leave coding behind. Those 30 people could have gone on to do great things while you virtually stopped them in their tracks. They may not even know that it wasn't even them in the first place. I'm willing to bet that at least one of you in your office has had parents that you could never do anything right for. Well you guys are those parents. You leave people feeling inadequate and stupid. Why? Because your code is rushed and incorrect and causes extreme amounts of frustration. It really is ironic that you are teaching code when your code is trash. Is it suppose to be one of those do as your told not as I do kinds of things?

Their website is buggy(at least for the python 3 paid course) so if you take it with the trial know that if an error comes back especially with indentation it may not be you at all. There have been times when I wrote code and it came back as wrong so I copied my code, asked for solution, pasted my code underneath and compared to find that nothing was different. Buyer beware. Now I did learn a good amount of fresh material but I have had some experience in python so I knew I was not wrong on certain things. If I had been newblet I would have just quit after the first couple bugs thinking it was me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Resource"
What do you like best about Codecademy?

Code Academy is an amazing resource for many different learning opportunities. The most amazing part of this is that it is free!! I myself have went through many different software language courses and have truly enjoyed every single one of them. the courses/projects are designed in a way to help any level user to clearly understand the concepts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codecademy?

I really like everything about Code Academy and how it implements everything. However, my only concern is that not everything is free. I wish there were more quizzes offered in the free option also, but I do understand the reasoning behind offering the Pro option. Other than that, I really believe this is an amazing opportunity that everyone interested must try. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Useful for Students and Professionals"
What do you like best about Codecademy?

I first used codecademy for a college course in undergrad. It was engaging and provided a great introduction to coding. To my surprise, when I started my job after college, my employer also recommended it in order to get more familiar with web design. I spend a few hours each week completing Java courses. I thought I would never enjoy coding, but codecademy makes it fun! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codecademy?

I had trouble viewing some parts of the course while using Internet Explorer. The modules did not load correctly and I was unable to complete the exercises. It constantly logged me out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One of my guide or lesson in coding"
What do you like best about Codecademy?

I search for the easy lesson for the jquery and I found out the CodeAcademy has the jquery lessons. I try the course I selected then It makes me more convenient to learn more about the course that I selected. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codecademy?

as what I've experience I don't like the tips or a cheat code in the tutorial it must be a hint or clue to determine the answer of each topic because I rather go to cheat code and try to see about the difference of my code which is bad to us to improve our logical ability Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent experience for new beginner coders"
What do you like best about Codecademy?

I really like the interactive interface that allows you to see your progress in steps. The 'paths' are a great way for students to stay focused on what's important. It can be quite overwhelming to see what you have to learn, but Codecademy sets things up nicely in a non-daunting way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codecademy?

Sometimes there are bugs that occur such as pages not registering the code properly. Also, alternative methods aren't always considered correct in some subject matters. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great introductory product for non coders interested in learning how to code."
What do you like best about Codecademy?

Code Academy is an excellent tool for visual learners who wanted to see what their code is doing real time. It gives people a chance to dabble in basic coding without the risk of breaking anything important. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codecademy?

If you're looking to upgrade to pro, depending on your needs it can be a little pricey. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Super easy to use platform, use at your own pace! "
What do you like best about Codecademy?

I love that you can select which path best fits your needs and wants to get the best knowledge and skills from the course. You're able to narrow down the information to what best suits you, and there are a lot of different learning paths for learning coding or web dev. Super transparent, easy to navigate platform, and lots of different resources to assist you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codecademy?

I dislike the variety of courses, and I think there is an opportunity to definitely open the platform to expand with courses on growing and coding your own online business, or social media platforms, etc. There are so many different roads that could be expanded upon, and so many interactive ways to learn coding depending on what you're looking for and why you need to learn to code. "The simple fact that code academy really has the user thinking about the question."
What do you like best about Codecademy?

I love that there are several different programming languages to learn from and you can always reference back to the older exercises to see how you define certain variables. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Codecademy?

Sometimes when you move on to the more advanced programming classes it would be helpful to have more hints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
