CMiC is the best. I love it because everything is captured in one centralized software. CMiC runs on a single database platform that connects financials, project management, and field operations, which helps eliminate silos between accounting, project teams, and the field. As a result, there’s no duplicate data entry, fewer reconciliation errors, and everyone is working from the same numbers.

CMiC tightly links job costing, billing, payroll, procurement, and forecasting into one workflow. Financial data flows directly from field activities (subcontracts, change orders, etc.) into accounting. I especially like the real-time cost tracking against budget, the better margin protection, and the faster, more accurate billing cycles. My accounting teams also love it for AP/AR processing, job costing, and financial reporting. Once you get past the initial learning curve, the ease of use is a real plus. The interface is laid out logically across modules, so after our team understood the overall navigation, moving into new areas like procurement or equipment management didn’t require much additional training. Just finding out that we can't utilize collaboration to the extent we were hoping to. We wanted our subcontractors to submit requests for payment through the collaboration module to streamline how they go to project managers for approval, then to AP to process. The most helpful aspects of the CMiC Platform is the full integration between financial management and project management. We no longer need to spend hours reconciling information that intersects both financials and project management. The integrations with third-party companies, along with the internal connections between accounting and project management, are excellent. I also appreciate how well the real-time reports perform, especially for analyzing project costs and overall financials. The pricing feels competitive and affordable. On top of that, the CMIC support team is consistently helpful: they answer our case questions promptly and make themselves available to hop on calls whenever we need to troubleshoot more complex issues or work through detailed questions. There's also an AI chat tool available to answer questions in real time during after-hours if needed. When dealing with day-to-day operations the modules are really user friendly and there are great learning tools available if someone wants to become a pro in the system. The only item I would say may need some improving from an accounting standpoint is the certified payroll report from a biweekly standpoint. Making it easier to read in both .pdf and excel form for submission purposes in the construction world. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We think CMiC is a very strong platform and well suited for construction use. Their senior leadership understands the product just as deeply as their programmers do, which is wonderful. The financials and job cost modules are excellent, and they are also at the top of the list on the field side. They offer a strong documentation library for system use, along with a user community that actively participates in monthly calls, a forum, and quarterly workshops that CMiC attends. My org has previously had many disparate systems across our enterprise architecture for accounting, project management, and very weak integrations for other systems. What I like least about the CMiC platform is that its depth and flexibility can also create a steep learning curve for new users. Although it’s a powerful tool, it can take a while to fully understand all the available functionality and to build more advanced reports or configurations without additional support. There has been a slight disconnect with ETL around how everything fits together, and it has created a bit of a siloed feel in places. I’m confident that, through discussion and clear communication with the project lead and project manager, we’ll be able to work through it and get everyone aligned.
