What I like best about Cloudways is how it masterfully strikes the perfect balance between powerful performance and remarkable simplicity.
Before finding Cloudways, I was stuck choosing between overly complex, hands-on cloud setups that were intimidating or oversimplified shared hosting that couldn't handle traffic spikes. Cloudways eliminated that dilemma. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
"While my overall experience with Cloudways has been excellent, there are a few areas where I feel there's room for improvement:
The 'Cloudwaysy' Way of Doing Things: The platform is designed for simplicity, which sometimes means certain advanced server-level configurations are abstracted away or require a specific workaround through their support team. For a developer who is used to having raw SSH access to every single file and setting, it can feel slightly restrictive, even though you can still access SSH. You sometimes have to adapt to the 'Cloudways way' of implementing changes.
Email Service Limitations: Unlike traditional cPanel hosting, Cloudways doesn't provide a native email hosting solution. You need to integrate a third-party service like Google Workspace, MX Route, or your domain registrar's email. This isn't a deal-breaker—in fact, it's often better for deliverability—but it's an extra step and an additional cost that can be a slight inconvenience for those expecting an all-in-one package.
Cost Structure for Add-ons: The core pricing is transparent, but some very useful features—like advanced backups (every 1-hour increments), dedicated IPs, or their premium SMTP service—are paid add-ons. While they are optional and fairly priced, the costs can add up if you need them for multiple sites or servers, making the overall bill slightly higher than the base price might suggest.
