## Check Point URL Filtering Reviews
  ### 1. Granular Control and Robust Protection for Safer Browsing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ruben C. | Network Support, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Check Point URL Filtering?**

It provides granular control over which sites can be accessed, while automatically blocking malicious or inappropriate content without burdening users with restrictions. This has reduced the risk of accidental exposure to harmful websites and facilitated the enforcement of compliance policies across the organization.

**What do you dislike about Check Point URL Filtering?**

Policy settings can sometimes be overly rigid and require additional adjustments to avoid blocking legitimate sites. Reporting dashboards could also be more flexible, as the default views don't always offer the level of detail needed to quickly analyze browsing activity. While the protection is robust, these usability issues add effort to daily management.

**What problems is Check Point URL Filtering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By automatically blocking phishing pages, malware infected sites, and non-work related content, it has reduced the likelihood of data breaches and helped us enforce compliance policies more consistently.

The benefit is that users can browse safely without slowing down their work, while the security team spends less time investigating incidents caused by unsafe browsing.

  ### 3. Blocking Risky Sites from Virtual Machines with URL Filtering By CheckPoint

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tania V. | Cloud Enginer, Computer Networking, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Check Point URL Filtering?**

What I like about using Check Point URL Filtering is the ease with which it allows me to control traffic between networks within the centralized management of my cloud GWs. The policies and control management I can establish in an easy, intuitive, and highly graphical way also facilitate my control before validations, changes, and details.

**What do you dislike about Check Point URL Filtering?**

URL Filtering does its job, but getting the settings right can be a bit frustrating at first. The interface takes some getting used to, and it’s easy to block more than you meant to if you're not careful.

Once everything’s tuned, it works well but I wish the setup felt more intuitive from the start.

**What problems is Check Point URL Filtering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Check Point URL Filtering helps us maintain control over web access in our Azure infrastructure, especially across virtual machines. Before implementing it, we had limited visibility into which sites were being accessed, which posed risks for compliance and security.

Now, we can block access to unauthorized or risky websites, enforce company policies, and reduce the chances of users or services reaching malicious content. It’s made our cloud environment more secure and predictable, while also saving time for our team by automating web access controls.

  ### 4. Real-Time Protection and Clear Reporting for Web Security

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

It gives us control and visibility over web usage without slowing down users. It blocks malicious sites in real time and helps enforce company policies by restricting access to risky or non-work-related pages. The reports are clear and accurately show where threats were stopped, making it easy to demonstrate compliance.

Customizing policies can be somewhat complex at first, especially when trying to balance security with user productivity. It's effective, but would benefit from a more streamlined interface and simpler setup.

**What problems is Check Point URL Filtering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's solving the problem of insecure and unproductive web access across the organization.
It blocks malicious sites before users can click on them and helps enforce company policies by restricting access to risky or non-work related pages.

**What do you like best about Check Point URL Filtering?**

Easy to use. Cheap compared to other vendors. You can use it at a separate application URL level as well as inline layer. URL Database is a well-known vendor and is updated regularly. It supports ssl sites and non-standard ports to analyze the URL traffic. It has regex support. Smartevent assists in analyzing the application and url policy.

**What do you dislike about Check Point URL Filtering?**

URL Database is general. Checkpoint has an OEM agreement with 3rd party provider. Updates are not timely. Local sites can not be analyzed properly. You need to use inline layers for proper security otherwise, you can not lock the rule base. External list integration is problematic only R81 and higher supports gui based external lists. No local isolation support for web traffic.

**Recommendations to others considering Check Point URL Filtering:**

Use the latest firewall software to enable it. Entegrate it with smartevent to get the reporting.
