I have tried to convince several forwarders in China how good this product is - they question why they need more efficiency - when they can just hire more staff 😅 It really is a software built on the "9 phases of Productivity": Phase One – Manual Phase Two – Computerized Phase Three – Enterprise Integration Phase Four – Supply Chain Integration Phase Five – Workflow Phase Six – Workflow Automation Phase Seven – Constraint Management Phase Eight – Buffer Management Phase Nine – Work Mix Management As a database tool also very powerful. Our technical skills would only be middle of the road, and as a result we would not be using all features/capabilities at full capacity yet - but we are still using some key features in powerful ways. There are too many aspects that we love about it. **What do you dislike about CargoWise?** It does take some getting used to for new users - and the customer service experience (for support) seems lacking for new users - but it's really a software built around self empowerment and self training. They offer incentives for users to hit certification milestones which can lead to product discounts. The online learning materials are good but could be improved further. They would do well to cover more of the technical aspects/features in greater detail and make the learning curve a bit simpler (even if that means slower). The price has increased exponentially in recent months - but we are following our gut to stick with it. **Recommendations to others considering CargoWise:** It takes sound planning and training to migrate onto this product from another. This is where the many Wisetech Service Partners can really add value to the business proposition. Do your research to see which ones may be the best fit 🙂 **What problems is CargoWise solving and how is that benefiting you?** It does so many things for us and does them well. Order Management (if we want); Handling Consols and shipments of all types; Customs declarations; Local Transport; Document preparation; Database Management; Rates Management; Accounting; Tariff Classification Management, to name just a few Right now we quote very quickly, in many multiple languages, and a lot of the business we quote on - we win. We then get to focus on the operational and customer service aspects of every shipment - we believe this is a key area where we are differentiating ourselves from the pack. Sure, we are in the game to make money - as all forwarders are - but it has never been our number one priority. As long as we can continue to meet or exceed our clients expectations, we know the outcome will be favourable. The product goes a long way to helping us achieve that. We also make strong use of e-docs - this is a critical cornerstone of our daily methodology in how we use the system to its higher (but not yet full) potential. We make strong use of the filters in all modules and this is also a key thing to get right - it means you can find a needle in a haystack if you need to. We are clearly solving some of our clients supply chain issues (or alleviating at least) - we have had multiple blue chip clients leave some of the bigger forwarders and bring their global business to us. We definitely don't have the buying power or the market presence of the bigger established players - but we are making up for it with our levels of communication, refined use (almost two decades) of the software - and overall customer experience. ### 8. It’s very complete and requires a lot of updates, but when you and your team utilizes most of its thousand features, it’s very easy to cover any person during vacation or unexpected sick day for example. **What do you dislike about CargoWise?** After 5 years working on it, with all the updates, it’s still hard not showing up in some data quality reports sometimes. I think I have learned everything that need to be 100% and then data quality team sends a report where something is missing. **What problems is CargoWise solving and how is that benefiting you?** I handle export, so when the overseas team also updates it, I can easily check if cargo has been cleared and delivered, for example, for a DAP or DDP shipment. It’s easy to check and approve an overseas invoice or credit note. It’s easy and fast to check shipments status when we get an unexpected call from customer asking about it. eDocs is also one of my favorites things in CW1 to find very fast some information I need without having to search in my email chains, etc ### 13. It allows for standardisation and automation, which is everything we're striving for as a forwarder. The Uk customs module is also first class and i've not seen better. The e-adapter is very good if you have your own developers. PAVE and visual boards means we could house basically everything in the application, with limited requirements for other software over and above. **What do you dislike about CargoWise?** Not necessarily CW1 the product, but WTG do not train or implement the software themselves, and whilst I understand their strategy here, we could have done with more assistance. We engaged with a partner to get things over the line. To fully understand the pricing and complete budgets is near on impossible in my eyes, as everything is billed by transaction. Although transparent, it's a nightmare to cross reference. **Recommendations to others considering CargoWise:** Make sure you source a good WTG partner to assist with implementation. Do your research and look at all options. Be prepared to compromise to take full advantage of the system and it's automation. **What problems is CargoWise solving and how is that benefiting you?** The accounting setup is almost too flexible. We're used to rigid software which feels safer in this area, so changing the mindset internally represents our biggest challenge. Benefits-wise the use of workflow has meant we can retire some additional software and our developers can focus on customer facing work. ### 14. It has many modules such as forwarding, warehousing, customs, quotes, etc. They all are integrated and interlinked, have full accounting capabilities for accruals and invoicing, have HR features for scheduling, CRM, wide EDI with airlines/shipping lines updates, bookings, etc. If set up all these features correctly, your operations staff can boost their productivity significantly. By the way, it has many well-explained tutorial videos and user certification program for different knowledge levels. CargoWise encourages users to learn the software not only for more efficient work, they also offer discounts to the company with certified users. **What do you dislike about CargoWise?** I cannot recollect something particular what I dislike. Just be prepared that the CargoWise basic functionality is easy to use. However, if you want to leverage it to maximum, you need to learn it or have qualified personnel to help with its setup and users training. Our industry is complex and broad, you cannot expect the professional software to be simple to cover the business needs. **Recommendations to others considering CargoWise:** My highest recommendations. Many top forwarders have been implementing CargoWise recently, and many will join. **What problems is CargoWise solving and how is that benefiting you?** Great visibility of all shipments, easy to track, search, filter, make reports for your every desire, export them to Excel for further processing. Documents are generated by the system eliminating manual input and possible errors. All related documents are stored in a cloud and can be accessed by your colleagues from your and other offices reducing communication by email (or cannot if you restrict access rights, it's up to you). Selling and buying rates automation makes quoting, accrual, and billing super fast, easy, and accurate. ### 15. Cargowise is a great forwarder operational platform with all essential applications. No phone support, you can not pick up the phone and speak to anyone, what year is it at cargowise hq? The only time they take your call is to make a sale, then youre on your own. You have to submit a ticket for issue, and they get back to you 4 days later, so if you need help now, well too bad you are out of luck. They claim this is a superior accounting software to quickbooks, haaa, doesnt even come close, very limited capabilities. Overall stay away from this mess. I bought there sales pitch and I cant undo my mistake of switching. Also as mentioned, once you sign the contract you find out that you need to hire a 3rd party to set it up and train you. Zero free training. **Recommendations to others considering CargoWise:** Do not switch to this software, do research and find alternatives.
