## Carbonite Safe Reviews
  ### 1. Solid Backup at a reasonable cost.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2016

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Easy to setup and use.
Very easy to restore individual files.
Flexibility - Can backup continually or on a schedule. Continual backup does not seem to degrade performance provided you have a reasonably fast processor and plenty of memory.
Reasonable price for cloud storage.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Carbonite provides a facility to do an Image backup (at extra cost), but they do not store it; it will copy to an attached external drive. You can do this for free with Windows Backup.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Do not pay extra for an Image backup. You can do that with Windows.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Every business needs both a local and off-site backup capability. Cloud storage works very well for offsite storage. Most business use some type of backup software that can be scheduled for local backup.
Carbonite fills the bill for the cloud storage at a reasonable cost and ease of setup/use.

  ### 2. A quick background backup client that's very unobtrusive

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Recreational Facilities and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2016

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

The application sits in the background giving you peace of mind that your data will remain safe (through redundancy). You're also able to indicate certain files not be backed up by keeping them in folders, which may be desirable if you're paranoid about security.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

You have to put files into a specific folder to prevent them from being backed up, instead of selecting specific folders you might not want backed up. Which is fine. This is mainly only an issue in folder hierarchies, as you can always keep info on separate partitions, or drives and not worry about it. Not to mention, it's secure, so why not just backup everything anyway?

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

It's a very unobtrusive software; in fact you might even forget that it's there if you're not looking at your system tray. Set it and forget it, and let your data remain secure!

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maintaining file integrity, in the event of loss. Being cloud-based, it's also possible to 'recover' files that you might have forgotten to bring with you to a business conference or otherwise.

  ### 8. Decent tool for backing up data to the cloud

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Plastics | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2016

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

It automatically backs up new data without requiring that it be manually added to backup jobs.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

It can take a fairly heavy performance toll on lower powered computers when it kicks in.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With limited bandwidth to the Internet, getting automated backups offsite can be a challenge. Because Carbonite works with the bandwidth available, it can still get the data backed up, it just may have to wait until there is less bandwidth being consumed by users.

  ### 16. Carbonite

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Security and Investigations | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2016

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I like the ability to have your files available anytime you are away from your computer at another computer if you are on line. Many times I have needed a file from my home computer while I am at work and visa versa. My company backs up my computer to Carbonate, and I also use it at home for my system.

The mirror image function has been extremely beneficial when a hard drive goes bad and you want to maintain all of your programs and setting without hour and hours of set up and re-load time. I have used it once at my office, and it was a blessing.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Initial back of of files when you first get on Carbonite takes a good while if you have a lot of files to back up. After that initial backup the continuous back up is not an issue.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

My computer has the data noted in this review, but my company also uses the program for our server. I do not know the total for that data.

I highly recommend. We had a problem with my computer and needed to reload the mirror image backup. We were having some difficulty. Our tech support called them and they spend all of the time necessary and through a couple of levels of support to help us get the computer up and running again. It is a pretty complex system and being able to use the mirror image with the help of their tech support on the phone was invaluable in time and cost.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I create e-learning and it requires that I work off of my local computer rather than the company networked system. The company backs up to Carbonite, but my files needed to be independently backed up from my actual computer rather than the server. I also have a multitude of software programs that I use for video, graphic development, music, and the software to design the course and loading them to the LMS. I also must store both the raw courses and the produced courses. I have a two terabyte hard drive a 3 terabyte external drive for storage and an additional terabyte drive for the mirror image backup. Carbonite handles all of my program needs.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mahmoud D. | Director Of Product Development, E-Learning, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2015

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

what I like the best about Carbonite is it's ability to backup your laptop, your phone and your tablet. In one account you can backup all of these devices. It also allows you to access all of these backed up files from any device including your phone. Their mobile app is great too. Easy to use and access the files.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Carbonite is very slow. It takes forever for the software to backup your files. Also, they give you unlimited files backup but they don't backup videos automatically. I wish they would backup video automatically as I have so many videos that I would like to backup.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Carbonite is great for backups but not the best. I prefer using Dropbox to it but I use both just in case I delete a file in my Dropbox by accident. You also need to know that It doesn't backup videos automatically so make sure to go and choose to backup your videos. It is slow but it doesn't take much Ram or processing power.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Carbonite gives me the peace of mind of having my files backed up and stored. I can access all my files wherever I want and from whatever device. It is also very easy to transfer files from one computer to another when using Carbonite.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

It's kind of pricey and the licensing is confusing. Its kind of slow.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Small business that need a reliable offsite backup for files. One less headache to worry about knowing that the files are all protected somewhere else

  ### 35. Decent product, but limited

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul Y. | Enterprise Account Executive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2015

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

It just works. No complex set up and it runs in the background with minimal to no intervention. The few times I needed a file back, it restored them with no drama.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

While the simplicity is part of the charm, in the home edition the controls on what is backed up are primitive. Additionally it is slow, so very slow. If you have a large backup set, expect the first backup to takes weeks or even a month or more. If you need to get all your data back, imagine how long that will take.

Also, their pricing model seems somewhat higher than other competitors.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Check other services that offer similar products. You may find the same thing for less. Be sure you can live with the long backup and restore times. Keep a local back up for whole disk restores.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wanted to make sure non-cloud data on my wife and my machines was backed up with minimum effort. It did back the data up.

  ### 36. Excellent product for the price it offers. Best for small-mid size business.

The ease of use for this product. You don't have to be a super tech-y person to be able to configure the software or even do restores. The mounted drive on the local machine is exceptionally useful.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

If your machine crashes and you need to restore, the process of getting the drives delivered from Mozy can take sometime.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not having to create re-directs from local user documents to shared folders on the server. The local backups eliminate its need. Restore access on user level also eliminates the need for constant IT support.

  ### 37. CARBONITE is a “user friendly solution” to online backups.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

It's simple to install, easy to use and very affordable. I use “Carbonite Plus” (on my work PC) since it allows me to “Mirror Image” my backup to an external hard drive (as well as to the cloud).

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

I set my daily backup to automatically occur “after hours” (since the “Continuous Backup Feature” tends to slow down my system while I'm working. That being said, I highly recommend Carbonite to anyone who's looking for an easy to use online backup solution.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

I highly recommend Carbonite to anyone who's looking for an easy to use online backup solution.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Redundant Backups & Peace Of Mind.

  ### 40. Back-up solution that puts your mind at ease!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenny P. | Grants Manager, Philanthropy, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2014

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I like that my back-up exists in the cloud. Not only do I have confidence that my files will be safe if anything happens to my computer, but I also get the luxury of having access to my information from anywhere I can get access the internet. It's also beneficial to have an app on my phone, making accessibility that much easier. Information at my fingertips!!

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

For me, it took a long time for the initial back up (to the tune of several days). After that, it runs smoothly and effortlessly in the background. Another dislike would be when I switched from a PC to a Mac I was unable to transfer my data over in a seamless manner. The backups for the two different interfaces were not compatible.

  ### 41. Precious and automatic backup

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro C. | Sales Enablement Leader, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2013

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I am an old school kind of guy. I carry an external HD with me everywhere that holds my work data. When I travel, I actually carry that one + another one with my personal data, should I need it. But here's the thing: with Mozy, I don't need to copy my critical files anymore to my HD, I just set it up so it backs up all my info at the end of each day and voilà! I can access it from anywhere in case an emergency should arise. It's really automated, and what's even better yet, you won't even know it's there.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Nothing at this point

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Do try it out, it makes backing-up so much simpler.

  ### 42. Slow upload speeds. Abandoned unlimited backup plans.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg M. | Senior Consultant, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2013

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I like cloud backup solutions, including Mozy, for one big reason: they conveniently solve the problem of backups being stored in the same physical location as the data. Users who back up to other computers or external hard drives are unprotected from catastrophic, physical destruction events like fires. Not so with Mozy. Also, they have improved features over the years to include the ability to access your files from mobile apps or the web interface. And most importantly they have added the ability to use your own encryption keys, which I view as mandatory for cloud backup solutions.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Mozy had slow upload speeds when I tried them out - 1 to 2 megabits per second (and I was on an OC-3 connection). They may have improved this since I tried them, but this was the reason I left. Also, Mozy abandoned its unlimited subscriptions and implemented tiered pricing. Users with large amounts of data will find Mozy quite expensive, especially compared to peers like CrashPlan that still offer truly unlimited backup.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Not for users with large volumes of data to back up. The speeds are slow, and the cost is high.

  ### 43. Default backup for office computers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jakub A. | Founder, Events Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2013

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Mozy is quick and organized. Function wise you can achieve similar results with Dropbox or even Google Drive but we use it to automatically backup all office data twice a day.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Capacity charges can add up but losing data carries much higher costs. We use Dropbox and Mozy but Mozy is never interacted with outside of automatic backups. Dropbox is our working folder and backup.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Look at the overall costs but security wise and ease of use it's a service well worth the expense. Be aware that the first backup you run can take a very long time. Upload speed and amount of data affect the time required. You can stop it at any time and continue later on if you have to. Definitely a nice feature.

  ### 44. Easy to use Back-Up System

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter B. | Director, Enterprise Solution Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2013

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

It's all cloud based and practically seamless to the user. I've been using now for about 4 months and have never had an issue. Restoring files is simple as well.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Nothing

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

If you are looking for a good, on-line backup solution for your users, I recommend MozyPro. Like I mentioned earlier, I have not had any problems in first 4 months of use and have never heard any complaints from other users.

  ### 45. Solid, automatic backup solution for our small biz

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eugene C. | Partner, Venture Capital & Private Equity, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2012

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

We have Carbonite deployed across our small business PCs and it's simple to install (although we had a 3rd party consultant do this) and largely invisible to our users. It's also attractive that the protected files are available/accessible from mobile and anywhere

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Not a big fan of the small popups that come up but they are informative about the status of the protected files

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

The Personal plans (home plans) have unlimited GB for a single computer and can be a great way to protect a very large amount of photos, etc. The business plans (such as what we have at our office) have fixed GB (ie, 500GB plus additional storage for extra fees) but can be across unlimited computers. Good solution overall -- but may be less and less a requirement as Google Drive and other cloud-based solutions begin to become our standard for document management, etc., vs our internal business server (which had high risk of failure)

  ### 46. Excellent cloud based storage

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2013

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

First, it's an EMC company. They offer storage options for home users and all the way up to the most sophisticated data center at an enterprise level. For home users, it works with both OSX and Windows. The Mozy Mobile Apps are solid too and a nice touch to manage your home data.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Nothing.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Try the 2GB free option for home users.

  ### 47. Excellent On-Line Backup Solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael F. | Senior Technical Account Manager, Team Lead, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2012

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Cross-Platform support makes this an excellent tool for Mac, Linux or Windows users. It runs seamlessly in the background and uses little-to-no noticeable resources.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

There are times I see it is pending a backup job, but has x number of files to backup. I wish it would just perform the backup.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

MozyPro is my preferred online backup solution, and it is affordable to boot.

  ### 48. Must have backup for work or home

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rusty P. | Senior Director of Global Operations and Quality, Medical Devices, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2012

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

If you have ever lost data, you know how much it hurts! Carbonite is dirt cheap and works fairly well for backing up all of your data automatically. I use it at home and at work--anyone that I know hears my speech about using it to back up their data. Unlike insurance, it also provides some tools beyond covering you for the potential issues. You can also access your files from anywhere on the web or even your smartphone.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

It doesn't allow as much granularity as I would like.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Just get it & set it up! Don't think about the money
