**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Punit K. | Web Developer, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Mozy is easy to use. I was able to recover the files very easily once when I lost few files from my system.

- Easy to recover files.
- Not much difficult to configure, although we had some IT help.
- We can schedule the backup's.
- The alternative for poor performance is do not schedule the backup in the office hours.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

- When mozy is in progress of taking backup, the system becomes drastically slow.
- It's very hard to even pause then mozy is in progress.
- All you have to do it bear with it.
- We had to select the folder manually which has to be added for backup, that process somewhat can improved.
- if your system has antivirus and mozy both running, you can't do anything else, even though my system RAM was 32 GB.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

- Easy to Configure
- Easy to Use
- All I did not like is, it makes the system pathetically slow, rest all is quite good.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had mozy installed in everyone's system. We were using mozy to restore the lost files.

  ### 4. Never tried restoring

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Seems to be backing up fine. I haven’t tried restoring it before.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

There’s not enough feedback given on what has been backed up. I’m used to Time Machine and it gives a nice overview of what files are backed up.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up

  ### 6. Carbonite review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jordan P. | Network Administrator, Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I like that you can navigate all the way through folders and select a specific file.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

It is somewhat limiting on the mobile version to see what you can do.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

The backup process is great, but it is somewhat time consuming. The initial backup takes some time, but once it is up and running it works very well. The mobile experience is not fantastic, and has room for improvement. The ease of use and setting up different backup profiles is a big positive, and backup recovery doesn't take that long.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Users losing a file or upgrading to a new laptop it makes it easier in terms of down time. The time it takes to recover the backup is definitely a benefit.

  ### 7. Intuitive & Reliable

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark G. | IT Consultant, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

The user interface is easy to navigate and reasonably intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

The interface is slow to load but runs just fine once loaded.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mission critical backups for 2 servers.

  ### 8. Mozy Pro Review

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

easy of backing up single files, restoration is easy as well

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

system state restore doesn't exist, so its only backups, not BDR

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

backing up workstations, not servers

  ### 9. Easy back up solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Careful backup to the cloud. You can set a scan to automatically look for new file to upload.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Limited to one device per subscription. This no longer fulfilled my needs.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

I switched to iDrive, as I was able to backup multiple devices to one account without extra charges, it isn't unlimited, but I have enough storage for my needs for a cheaper price.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup of files so they wouldn't be lost in a hardware failure.

  ### 10. It is an effective way to backup pertinent user data even for the consummate traveler.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin A. S. | Senior Executive Support Engineer, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

What I love best about Mozy is the incremental backup system it does and that it takes advantage of whenever the machine is connected to the internet to initiate the backups in the background. it will do this on a variable you select in upwards of 12 times a day maximum. It's not overly resource intensive either.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Honestly the thing I liek least is that the initial implementation is lengthy based on the local data stored for the user. If you have a large OST file in Outlook that you want to backup you feel it.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

It's a versatile cloud based backup option that works as well for your stationary and traveling users.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have many users who aren't stationary so this allows them to be in a hotel or client and still safeguard their data to a cloud based managed and secure service.

  ### 11. Simply "set it and forget it" backup solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

As an independent IT consultant, I often would refer my customers to Carbonite for their backup needs. After a simple set up there are no worries about changing tapes, or inserting DVDS or sending media off-site. When you take media, hardware, man-hours, and training into account for other backup solutions the price is quite reasonable.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

As is the nature of online backups, the initial backup or total restore can take a very long time if you don't want to pay extra to have media shipped to you. It's not their fault, but some environments might need the better restore time that local backups can provide.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Carbonite helps prevent data loss by keeping a backup of files and data corruption by keeping previous versions of those files as well.

  ### 12. Not the smoothest software to work with

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Networking | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

When it works, it just works. Files are updated regularly and software updates run flawlessly

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Backups seems to have issues syncing regularly and a system reboot usually restores the connection to Carbonite's servers

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Keep in mind the connection issues and have your clients reboot their pcs regularly, as should be done already anyway, and there will hopefully be no issues

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is our go to backup solution for client's home PCs just wish that it was more reliable in keeping connection with the servers

  ### 13. Easy backup experience!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucas P. | Technical Support Engineer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

How quick the backups occur, takes almost no time.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

After the backup is complete, the program won't shut down.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

It's an easy enough tool to use, I'd suggest giving it a trial run, especially if you are looking for ease of security.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Security. Allows us to work from the cloud more often, and in the event of a lost machine, we are not at a loss, and can pick right back up.

  ### 14. Useful service for backup storage

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim R. | Project Manager, Insurance, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Didn't have to think about manually backing up files

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Added a little green dot next to all the docs that were back up. Couldn't find configuration to turn that off.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Easy to use and easy to implement.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up important documents

  ### 15. Simple, reliable, and cost-effective solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** J. Douglas W. | Senior Business Analyst, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2016

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

We like that it works behind the scenes, keeping everything backed up in real time. It allows you to configure exactly which folders are backed up, too.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

It can lock up from time to time, but not that often. The first time you run it, it can take quite a while to backup all of your selected files, but that is to be expected. Support was okay but not terrific.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Check out the competition. Read plenty of reviews. Make a list of the pros and cons. When you look at the features that Carbonite offers, I think you'll see that they are the best value for the money *and* reliable.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can backup our financial data as well as important information relating to our clients. On a more personal note, we can ensure that our family photos are kept safe in case of fire, natural disasters, etc.

  ### 16. Pretty easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Johnathan L. | President, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

There are several things to like about Carbonite. For one you can have unlimited storage for one computer. Secondly, it is a leave it and forget it set up. Meaning that once you have t set up it goes on about its business with no need for you to do anything further. Also, recovering of items is really easy. I also loved the reference to Star Wars with the name. Cost for an individual is very appealing.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

I don't think this is a problem with Carbonite but it does take a long time to get the initial back up finished. On my computer it took over a week to upload 150 GB of data. Videos do not back up automatically and have to be uploaded manually. Cost can become restrictive if you need to back up several computers in a home networking scenario.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Back up solutions are different for everyone. I would suggest trying their free trial on a test system and see if it can meet your needs before storing your actual data on the service.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was not solving a business scenario as I use Carbonite for home back up purposes. With Carbonite I am able to have piece of mind that my personal computers and laptops are being backed up. Also being able to recover files pretty easily has been a life saver on a few occasions.

  ### 17. Carbonite is a simple, low-cost option for reliable automatic, off-site backups

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan A. | Owner / Designer / Developer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

It is simple to setup the program. The annual cost is low. It runs in the background and is automatically backing up files as they change. The backups are off-site so we don't need to secure them from damage at our office.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

I haven't had any issues and don't have any dislikes at all.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

There are various online backup solutions available. We compared reputation, reliability, support ratings, and price and have been very happy with Carbonite. We have needed to use support very often but when we do they are quick to respond and knowledgeable.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reliable, almost instant, automatic, off-site backups.

  ### 18. Don't have to do anything. All happens in the background.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael C. | Software Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I had to restore my data once and it was fairly painless.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

It takes up some network resources but I plan to tune that better.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Good product. I would recommend it.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy care free backup of data.

  ### 19. Mozy Backup

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rob H. | Chief Technology Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Simple, ease to setup and use. Can control bandwidth up/down so it doesn't kill your other apps.It has version control, file syncing, 50Gb's is a decent amount to start off with. Security encrtyption is minimal at 128 bit. Restoring files is a breeze and simpler than some other services which email you the file back. It looks and feels like a restore in Explorer (Windows)

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

A little expensive for what you get. When you install the program, it tries to do a full backup by default and that can take forever depending on how much data you have. What would be better is the ability to select only the files you want initially.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Crashplan, AWS, Barracuda

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Desktop/Laptop standalone backups for people who do not participate in the domain or network.

  ### 20. Excellent Home Unlimted Option

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I like the simplicity of the software tray icon and how it walks even simple users through the process.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

I dislike how it is not flexible between plans for home users. I like the one workstation unlimited but also prefer a buy a bucket of data and then backup as many machines as possible like their enterprise offerings.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

This is a wonderful SOHO solution and worth using for smaller deployments.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am resolving the SOHO business problems for smaller environments.

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2017

It made easy for us developers to easily manage backups

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

  ### 25. Easy backup to the cloud

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2016

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Setup is very easy and also the way to select folders/files to backup is extremely easy.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Sometimes the backups take very long and it is difficult for the client to keep up with the amount of changes. Normally this happens at the beginning of the setup but once that is done there are no problems.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

You need to try it with the trial they offer. I think the best you can do is to test with a sample of your files so the initial setup doesn't take too long and then run tests of restore. You'll find it is very easy to do

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everything at work we backup with mozy. All of our documents and project files are in the cloud with them.

  ### 26. Mozy Backup

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

Being able to access my files anywhere and the security of knowing my computer is not the only source of my files.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

The length of time it takes to transfer files to their server and don't really like the online user interface to access my files.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Check implementation costs versus other software vendors and be prepared to spend time getting your files to carbonite.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up media, mostly peace of mind.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Business Supplies and Equipment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Set it and forget it. I don't have to really do anything. Once you set up the parameters for how Mozy will save and backup your data it runs quietly and efficiently in the background. I don't have to do anything else unless I need to retrieve something.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Not much to dislike. You can push it out to multiple workstations if necessary and if you have trouble with a hard drive and need to go back to retrieve a file or a last good save it's very easy

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Whether you have 1-3 or 100-300 workstations, Mozy has a solution

I don't have any dislikes, but sometimes it can lag

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Do it

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm solving the issue of my computer crashing. I use a really old desktop so it's not too reliable and this saves me a lot of stress

  ### 30. Simple and effective backup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gary G. | Concierge Technology Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2016

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Mozy is a set-it-and-forget-it backup routine - which is vital to get people to actually keep their data backed up on a consistent, ongoing basis.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Interface feels slightly dated, but given how little I interact with it, it doesn't matter all that much.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Easy setup and flawless backup. What more do you need?

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Perpetual, ongoing backup. New files are pushed to the backup cloud whenever there's an idle cycle in my computer use - so really, it's like having perpetual backup. Since I've started using Mozy, I've never suffered data loss that I couldn't easily recover from.

  ### 31. simple to use across both mac and pc

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2016

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

the auto schedule capabilities keeps you worry free. you know your files are being backed up, even if you don't sense that a process is running.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

in general i like my machines to be pristine, so admittedly i was not a fan when our outsourced IT team suggested we use mozy. but that was a while back. now it's just on and running without any intervention from me.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i work on a marketing team where everything is content, content, content. we have many ways that we share files, like dropbox, box, google drive, etc...so i'm constantly syncing or downloading team members locally to work on them. with so many files and revisions, i never know if my stuff is backed up appropriately in case my laptop is stolen or is dropped, etc... that's where mozy comes in. to give me the piece of mind that all my stuff is protected

  ### 32. Great product and very easy to use.

Carbonite is extremely easy to use and has a host of features available. It seems to be a rock-solid product and well worth the investment. Carbonite for Business is a great offsite backup program, set it and forget it, set schedules and so forth. It is very easy to use and recover files. I would definitely recommend this cloud backup solution to others.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

I honestly can't think of any aspect of the product I didn't like.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The need for a secure, cloud-based, backup solution with high availability.

  ### 33. Great backup for Business or personal

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

The current user interface needs some updating.

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

I like the ease of setting up Carbonite to backup the folders I want. It is very easy to just point it to the particular directories I want backed up and to then just have it automatically back everything up. I also like that if your backup hasn't happened in a certain period of time Carbonite will send you an email letting you know that your backup is overdue.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

I can't really think of anything that I dislike about Carbonite. It does what it is supposed to and it does it well without being particularly complicated.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

I would highly recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a backup solution. It works very well is easy to use. Once you have set it up it automatically takes care of everything else without you having to do anything.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This program is great for automatically backing up all of your important files so that if your hard drive were to crash you wouldn't lose everything. It is also nice being able to access your backed up files from a different computer.

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Carbonite is a full suite back up solution that is very easy to use and maintain. I don't like that Java needs to be installed for it to work and the pricing for storage can get a bit costly.

Java required and the storage pricing is a bit high.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cloud backup

The software is easy to install and configure, and good reporting shows what is being backed up and what is not.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

When you reach your storage limit, it is very challenging to manage the backups to reduce their size, without first buying more storage.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed an offsite backup for critical files and server configurations. Carbonite just increases our comfort level in the event of a data loss event.

  ### 41. Important Tool for Business

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Law Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

It is always helpful to have a backup system in place, especially in the business world. Carbonite allows for easy access to backup work.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

If you do not take the time to learn the system, it can slow your computer down big time, mostly because you do not need it running 24/7. Read the manual and figure out the ins and outs or expect to be restarting your frozen computer frequently.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Computers crash, it just happens, the benefits include having a back up to recover. There is nothing worse than coming in after a weekend and have your computer malfunction totally. **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa N. | Photographer/Owner, Photography, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2016

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Everyone needs a place to backup their stuff. I am a person that tends to constantly delete things. I have so much stuff that I do on my pc and sometimes I batch delete. In the process of batch deleting I sometimes get rid of stuff that I actually needed to keep. Carbonite is also amazing if something happens to my pc and I have to get the files elsewhere.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

Sometimes the only thing that I really hate about doing backups is the amount of time that it can take to back up. Also sometimes some things back up that is sort of pointless, as it does backup some useless files.

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

As with any product try it before you buy it.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are really no business problems that I am solving. As a photographer I do need multiple backup locations for my shoots in-case something happens to my main storage or first backup.

  ### 48. Works for business backup

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

Carbonite is great at keeping file backup up to date. Scheduler is great to make sure files are processed during down times.

Due to requirements for updating the client, the backups will often stop working. The only way to get the backups going again is to install the updates. It is also difficulty for many clients to understand the on computer interface.

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We keep multiple business backed up using Carbonite. The benefit is the easy of use for multiple clients from the dashboard.

**What do you like best about Carbonite Safe?**

MozyPro has some great features; Easy set up, web based management console, rules which allow you to manage an entire organization.

**What do you dislike about Carbonite Safe?**

The biggest problem with Mozy has been it's reliability. We have had to manually update, stop the service and restart, completely uninstall and reinstall and critical data has been lost by backups. Too unreliable over 60+ workstations to recommend

**Recommendations to others considering Carbonite Safe:**

Make sure you have redundant backups as well to prevent loss of critical data

**What problems is Carbonite Safe solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were trying to prevent loss of critical data due to intentional espionage, viruses and other unintentional methods. We have had some success in restoring data when situations occurred, but also had several failures.
