As a PM at a security focused company, I was most interested in security, scalability and actionability. BWT delivered on all three. Security was key in building their data pipeline, which their team had the expertise to accomplish. They developed a bespoke application for us that integrates in all our anonymised threat data, member metrics and research feedback into one governed solution. The strength of their work is in the ETL processes we built together that take raw data and convert that into structured insights for our research teams without revealing any member’s information. Creating a customized tool for a niche industry such as ours involved an extremely in-depth and long discovery process. Their communication was fantastic, but the original project timeline was too short. Some of the more challenging features (real-time streaming etc.) took a while to secure properly. The platform is stable in production, but any small design change or report logic requires their development team to get involved– the admin tools are designed for data engineer and not a product person. Recommendations to others considering BWT: If you have such sensitive data, as well as complex and located at different examples for which we want to create the secure and trustworthy asset, then BWT is a reasonable solution. They are real consultants and engineers, not mere coders. Make sure you have a strong technical lead on your side and work deeply with this person from the star especially during scoping. We had all of our mission-critical data siloed in disparate systems — survey tools, website analytics, member portals. This made our annual security benchmark reports a manual, months-long task that was error-prone. BWT’s software uses a platform that automates collection, harmonization and aggregation of data. The payoff is two-fold: 1) Internally, our researchers can now analyze ad-hoc in hours not weeks which drives accelerated thought leadership. 2) Externally, we offer our member organizations better and more timely, granular and reliable benchmarks that MAKE a difference for their membership AND prove the value of our forum's authority.
