When you start a daily log and need to leave that page, sometimes when you go back to it, you have to start all over, not good.

Some interface with Quickbooks is not fully there. The financial/owner invoice side could use some work.

The program is highly geared toward residential construction.  This makes it much less effective for a commercial general contractor.  It was ok for us but not great.

Whenever we needed some light customization within the program, their teams were always eager to try to work with us to accommodate our wants and needs.

I would like to be able to save selections and change orders as drafts so the client doesn't see everything until we finalise the scope of a project.

The CRM works quite well for tracking leads and activites.

Proposal building used to be great. They have made several updates in the couple of years that made it harder to use, counter-intuitive and degraded the user experience. The proposals do not look as good as they used to. Cost codes in the worksheet used to be in the same order as the proposal making it very easy to locate line items and make necessary changes. Now they seem to be ordered by category in the worksheet and it doesn't match the structure of the proposals. This makes it very difficult to review and make changes. This is the main reason we left BuilderTrend.

BuilderTrend used to solve our CRM and proposal needs, however now it is difficult to use.

It was easier using google docs for storage.  There is not much I like about this app

I have been waiting for 9 months for them to get the feature back that lets you see if there are docs in a folder without opening it.  It was there and is gone.

Buildertrend is very customizable. Their staff are very attentive to help requests and they are more than willing to dig to find a solution for what we are asking.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

For our industry, I'm not sure BT is the best software. The accounting side of it isn't as smooth or easy to learn as we'd hope.

Creating proposals, keeping track of customers, it provides a place for all employees to upload documents to corresponding projects for anyone with access to view.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

I enjoy a lot of the cross-platform functionalities of Buildertrend. As someone who spends most of the day in the field, I like the ability to quickly access and add data or files as necessary when I'm on the go. I enjoy being able to access a timeline of the daily logs for jobs and the ability to scroll through these helps me stay appraised of the job details throughout the process.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

I've had certain specific hiccups in functionality that have briefly hindered job progression when it comes to batch uploading a multitude of photos. I find that sometimes the uploads can be inconsistent where photos get flagged as failing to upload, then later appear in the appropriate folders. This has led to some of our install crews making multiple uploads, causing us to sort through thousands of photos, attempting to parse through all the duplicates. This is a minor and not oft-occurring problem, but unfortunate and noticeable when it does occur.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're able to coordinate varied facets of the project management process through Buildertrend across multiple states. It's allowed us to keep a top-down view of the job the entire way throughout. Both the office support and field installers can access all the job's data from anywhere, allowing for better communication and an overall better understanding of the tasks and jobs at hand. At past companies, where I did not have access to the CRM, I could not as quickly troubleshoot through all the documents from the various AHJs, inspectors, and site personnel, and it was thus harder to solve some of our technical field troubleshooting.

I love the ability to have a living document that all people can collaborate on to build a home with almost no details missed.

For me, the most helpful part of Builder Trend is its ability to manage multiple jobs efficiently all in one place. Not to mention, the communication between myself and our maintenance technicians is made easy by Builder Trend.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

One downside of Builder Trend is the lack of approvals it has for payment processing. We use Bill.com for payment processing because it has an approval process with our management team, so it would be great to see Builder Trend add this feature.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mainly, Builder Trend is aiding in resolving maintenance issues among our properties (such as plumbing, electrical, etc.). Overall, Builder Trend efficiently increases my productivity, mainly because I can easily manage multiple requests in one place.

I like BuilderTrend as a database. That's what works for our company. It keeps our customers' information in one place, along with files and notes. It also works as a good database for our subcontractors to access job files.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

The biggest downside is subcontractor capacity planning on the scheduler. It's hard to track capacities and reporting of capacities and workloads. Wish it were easier to manage all of these nuances.

We are able to provide essential files to our subcontractors. They can use the app/site to find a job and get their address, plans, necessary docs for their trade, etc.

Not very much.  
Daily Notifications
Everything on one platform (schedules, POs, Docs, etc)

It is slow.
You cannot open multiple tabs
There are no reporting functions
You cannot download lot lists
They set up 2 accounts for me by accident and they cannot combine them so I need to constantly log in and log out

**Recommendations to others considering Buildertrend:**

Look elsewhere - I would look at buildpro/supply pro.  Much more functionality and much easier to use

Links poorly to QBO. Can't filter unbilled expenses. Can't export financial data to excel. Can't enter a bill and split between 2 jobs.

The support team is amazing, they always answer questions and take the time to walk you through the different features of the program

The interface itself is not independent; mutiple windows/tabs tend to confuse it. Refreshing pages does more harm than good. It needs to be more of a live update/multi-user friendly. I bounce back a lot on multiple jobs between the logs and the schedules and it has a hard time keeping up with what job I am on which leads to incorrect information being saved on the wrong job, (even though I clicked on the right job, it just didn't refresh quickly and it got confused)

**Recommendations to others considering Buildertrend:**

Know what you want to use it for, it has many capabilities, but unless you are really going to use a certain feature, ignore it. It gets time consuming to constantly add details and logs when they aren't always being used. 
Rely on the support team if you have questions. They will do webinar training sessions and even drive on your screen if you are having issues.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organization within our company, a nice place to store all the documents, scopes, contracts. Accessible by the field team and sub contractors with the appropriate permissions. 
Punch lists/ to do lists have been helpful to knock out those smaller remaining items on a job
Color coding the jobs is nice

The billing sometimes is crazy. We have not used the software but we still pay for it. Sometimes during this pandemic, they were great, however, I do not agree with paying for what is not being used.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

Buildertrend has been a big part of our company for the past 5 years. The scheduling and the budgeting are the big strong points for me. I love that the sub contractors have their own portal and can view and accept POs and are notified of schedule changes. It also allows subs to keep tabs on where the job is with the use of daily logs.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

I have found that it has some limitations on what the POs can do. The best solution that we have found is generating a PDF PO outside of BuilderTREND and then uploading it as an attachment to the PO. I'm sure we could have made it work for some of the simpler POs but for a po with as much detail needed to send to a lumber yard, it couldn't work. And that was after some one on one help from their awesome support team.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to keep track of and reduce our cycle times and keep track of what is happening with our margin on each job. We have been able to have real time communication to our clients. We have also been able to keep better tabs on warranty.

Buildertrend has a very friendly user interface. It is extremely customizable, and is a great project management resource for construction projects. 

They have amazing customer service that is extremely responsive and helpful. 

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

If you use the system for accounting purposes, it’s great that it links to QB. However, if an invoice is entered under a job, you cannot edit it once it’s posted. Sometimes amounts will change or you find out it should be assigned to a different customer. There needs to be a way to edit the invoices once they are entered so you don’t have to enter them from scratch.

We are able to track construction jobs and log all communication with customers. This helps us to maintain better communication.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

Easy to use software that allows me to organize all my construction projects and easily communicate with my employees. The mobile app is very useful as well. Storage of unlimited pictures for projects. The calendar is quite useful. When I change something, the software automatically notifies all relevant parties of the new dates. Moreover, the training provided when we first purchased the software was great. The trainer went over all the different functionalities of the software and was patient, detail-oriented and very helpful. He made sure I understood how to properly and efficiently use the software.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

The monthly fee of $300 is somewhat high, however still worth it. This software is advanced and therefore I can justify paying that price for it. Moreover, I would have liked that there would be more users included with the $300 monthly payment. As of right now, my plan comes with 5 users. Since our company is growing, we will have to pay extra per additional user, which is not something I look forward to.

**Recommendations to others considering Buildertrend:**

Definitely a great choice. Good support. Easy to use. Multi-functional. The mobile app is great too. 

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our team of experts can now all have access to the same information and can easily communicate with each other through the BuilderTREND mobile app. The benefit is that time is saved, files are not lost, and processes are now streamlined. Moreover, all the pictures that are team takes are saved on the cloud in the software, which makes it easy for us to recover at any time. Just in terms of organization, this software has made a huge difference for us.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

The best feature about builder trend is our ability to manage, track, and follow turns in our homes. we are able to schedule, prioritize and update jobs as they go along. Furthermore, we can use it as a platform where we are able to communicate with our contractors. This allows us to keep them in the loop while also tracking progress. 


**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

I dont like how it lacks in updates, although I am not a primary user for the  software, that updates are not always as informative as possible. Some updates are very minor but flood your page and sometimes cause you to miss updates on larger pieces of work that are getting completed. 

**Recommendations to others considering Buildertrend:**

I wouldnt suggest using builder trend unless you can integrate it with another software. If you had to manually add and track jobs it would wipe out the purpose of it.

We are getting rid of the need to keep an in house construction team. With buildertrend, we have been able to outsource this function of our company without giving up control and without sacrificing our standards.

Client Online portal, not worth the cost for just this. 

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

Long time customer, when we started with them they promised no increase in prices to their long time clients. After four year they doubled the cost from one month to the next .  At this point they know you have too much time invested in their project to switch.  When questioned about it they admitted what they were doing was wrong but didn’t really care. Pay up or lose all of your info or try to start with another company. I know this will be the first of many large increases to come so be careful when you sign up because they won’t stick to their word.

Don’t get sucked in by the price they tell you, once they have you committed the costs will sky rocket.  Better to start off with a higher priced product and a firm pricing structure ..

Hard to get subs and clients to use, the budgeting is the only part that we find useful.

Whether it’s scheduling or reference, builder trend makes the job easier. With access to calendar schedules, job info, customer/sub-contractors/office contact info, job blueprints and permits. Of the products I’ve seen and had access to I can’t think of a better product to implement into the everyday life of a builder. 

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

The biggest downside I’ve experienced is having to be connected to the internet when using time clock, etc... because I use it on new construction builds, sometimes the cell signal is spotty.

Builder trend helps me see the big picture when it comes to the general schedule.

Buildertrend has a very user-friendly interface with many customization options.  They are making rapid improvements on a monthly basis, and it's always fun to watch for new features.  Sharing information with the client and remote works is a breeze.

We have encountered some bugs in the system that took Buildertrend a while to fix.

**Recommendations to others considering Buildertrend:**

Try to understand how the different tools within Buildertrend are going to work in your company.  Other products such as Co-Construct may work better for your workflows.

Buildertrend has eliminated allot of duplicate data-entry between departments and allowed us to seamlessly track everything from leads to change orders in one database.
