**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

BT's customer communications and lead management tools are solid. Customer-facing site is attractive, professional-looking, and generally easy to use. The materials-selection management is nice from the customer end, and its integration with the estimates and budgeting has potential.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

The estimating system is pretty much just a presentation tool; despite the promising existence of the customizable cost catalog, there's an inexplicable lack of control in separating internal cost numbers from what's shown to the customer. Also, your estimates are built as a database rather than a spreadsheet, so it's impossible to do any calculating between the line items. The result is that all the actual estimating work still happens in Excel or whatever you currently use, and then you have to manually transfer the data into BT to present it to the customer. The templates and such make this less painful than it could be, but it's still a frustrating shortcoming.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

dBuildertrend has smoothed our customer contact process, allowed us to much more easily record and track notes and conversations and job-critical data in one searchable location, and significantly improved our labor and materials cost recording. The phone app works well enough that using it onsite isn't an imposition - so it actually gets used.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

There are too many parts of Buildertrend that are beneficial to our business.  We use it for contracts with clients and subcontractors, estimating, bid requests, data storage, communication, logs, CRM...  The list is too long.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

The thing I like the least about Buildertrend is the messaging within the leads management section of the platform.  You can send a lead an email and they can reply back to that email but that is where the thread stops.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have moved our project management from folders and spreadsheets to an online dashboard used internally by clients, vendors and subcontractors. This is a time saver and a way to keep track of schedules and budgets.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

The staff is very prompt & helpful! The system is user friendly, easy to navigate. They also have helpful 'classes' or tutorials to help.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

Some features could use some updates. But when we let BT know they are very responsive to either put it on the next update or give us a way to change it on our end to make it work for us.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We didnt know you could change the schedule to having to manually check that things are done. We were missing things here & there because we thought it was our vendors that were checking it. When in fact it was the system that did it automatically.
Also-we are working on having our old vendors & users not in the warranty list for assign to. There is no fix yet but we did what they suggested and did ZZ

Todo's are very useful for the guys to keep on track of their projects.

Not to excited about the financial side of it. change orders are lumped together and still lets you bill for a change order that was declined by a homeowner.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

I like having everything in one place, from selections to budgets to schedules, purchase orders/ scopes of work and progress photos.  Great tool for internal and external communication.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

There are some features which could offer a better shortcut.  One example is adding vendors/ installers to selections one line item at a time.  It would be nice to be able to broadly apply some items such as assigning selections to subcontractors

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Every time I've reached out to Buildertrend support, they either solve my problem while I'm still communicating with them or very quickly after.  The support is one of the best features of Buildertrend.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

Helps keep our company, as well as our clients, organized and on track and on time.  Love the ability to create To-Do's with due dates, and the daily log function.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

I have heard from others that the mobile / IPad view is not as easy to navigate. (I personally only use it on my desktop)
Also, a current update no longer allows us to edit client contacts after they activate their account.  This is annoying when we want to add an additional email address or number that we did not get from the clients from the start.  (We shouldn't have to ask the clients to add it themselves)

Buildertrend helps keep everyone associated with a project on the same page and up to date without taking time to meet about it.  (As long as everyone is paying attention to BT)

The best part about Buildertrend is the ease of use for internal employees and external clients and subs/vendors. There are so many useful aspects to the program, and we continue to expand our use of the product as we grow.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

There are not many downsides to using Buildertrend. The only thing that I would say could use improvement is notifications for when there are updates being done so that users can anticipate them.

Buildertrend helps us with communication about jobs from the field to the office. We can see progress photos daily with additional details about the site conditions and subcontractors.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

I like that everything is all in one place. In the past, I've seen PM software where there are only a few features, so you would need to have to subscribe to multiple software to get everything BT offers.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

BT doesn't really have an option for subcontracts, their form is basically to make a PO for a subcontractor. Its a bit of a workaround but still gets the job done.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of use and functionality. BT has everything you need to run a successful construction job from start to finish. From bidding the job, to issuing subcontracts, selections, submittals, schedules, closeout, it all. It's all in one place, makes it a great tool to have.

Bid management - writing scopes of work, releasing bid requests to subcontractors, attaching bid documents, and tracking bid status
Daily Logs - writing a daily log and attaching pictures easily

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

Glitches when using Buildertrend in multiple browser tabs - if you want to reference a different project while working on a current project, you can easily lose your progress because the system gets confused which job you are actively working in vs. referencing only.
Granting document access to bidders - Bidders should somehow be able to view limited project documents (bid plans, specs) without having to manually grant them access to a specific set of project documents

Tracking bid status, keeping a list of active vendors & subcontractors, keeping track of the scope of work and plans that are used by subcontractors to provide estimates

Having all your project management in one place. The schedule writing and having design selections available for everyone in the field are so important. Really, I like everything.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

I'm told that estimating in BT is not very good. We do it in another form and input it into BT. 
When I write Change Orders, I have to do a lot of copy and paste if I do not let the clients see line items, which is never the case. So, it would be nice if it would just fill in the Change Order Description below, and then I can edit it if needed.

It solves the fact that we can constantly communicate with our clients.
Our employees have all the current information in the field, allowing us to keep our production moving forward.

Very user friendly on a rep level. Interface is simple.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

The templates and reports can be difficult to edit or generate. Also, the programmers FREQUENTLY make changes to the functions that ARE NOT NEEDED. They break what wasn't broken. In many cases it seems like they're just looking for things to change. There as normally no issues with what they "fixed" and only headaches with the new system.

The program works well. Fix the PROBLEMS and leave the rest alone.

Housing all our documents electronically and having them available to our clients and team members.  We no longer have to have 'paper' on the site and it keeps us having the most updated information at our fingertips.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

No having live links active in multiple areas. Not having drag-and-drop feature with folders and within folders.  Not having the ability to organize documents in our leads for writing estimates.

We drop less 'details' because they are organized,  which reduces errors and saves money.  It's the improved communication and the 'one stop shop' approach to info.

The user friendly aspect of the app.the instructions provided. Easy to follow prompts.you can pretty much just pick it up and use it right away.no other app has been used .

Having to uncheck all people then pick who u want to communicate with in change orders and messaging. Could be improved by starting out with all names un checked.

Keeping track of sites progress and problems . Uploading pictures and docs helps tremendously. And improves production greatly. And performance of the entire company.

It helps me create PO's, release bids, track budgeting, and easily make payments. It syncs perfectly with QuickBooks as well, which is fantastic!

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

The only thing I don't necessarily like is frequent updates to the platform. Sometimes they take a while to get used to, and then there's a change again.

They help me keep track of budgeting and payments to our subcontractors and vendors. I love seeing all the jobs simultaneously, which allows me to split and code.

BuilderTrend has made the software website very easy to navigate with tabs and dropdown menus.  Plenty of tools to use for what we need to accomplish.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

I would like to see a filter option to automatically invoice a client after client approval.  I sometimes forget the check the box to do so, and it would be nice to default to such.

Buildertrend is often updating the software to resolve any issues that customers might have.

It is very easy to use and navigate. If I have to make corrections to the prior days work logs or hours logs all I have to do is click on that day and correct the things that are wrong. Easy and simple.

I don't love the bright blue buttons that came about after the last update. They kind of hurt my eyes. I think the dark blue was much better!

The "one stop shopping"--i can communicate with my vendors and field guys and have everything accessible to everyone.  Any logs, notes or paperwork is clearly marked and it's a breeze to input.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

When it gets glitchy and won't allow me to save content.  I then have to start all over and it can be time consuming.  It doesn't happen too often (thank goodness) but when it does it drives me bananas.

It takes me mere minutes to create an account and have all documentation submitted.  i can see what the field supers are uploading and vice versa, so that's incredibly helpful to me.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

Our entire system revolves around Buildertrend.  It keeps us organized, particularly around selections and change orders.  We are also able to collect payments on time instead of driving all over trying to collect checks!

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

The connection between Buildertrend and Quickbooks is often glitchy.  Our office manager has to spend time every week double checking things that either transferred twice or not at all.  The other frustration is how hard it is to get subs/vendors to participate.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping a record of everything that happens throughout a remodel or new build is absolutely necessary.  Clients have to be kept in the loop as far as schedule, cost, change orders etc.  There's no possible way all the elements of a project could be kept up with without software like Buildertrend.  It allows us to be far more professional and organized for our clients.

The most useful features to our company are  time clock and daily logs feature are the most valuable features to us. The location tab on the clock in and clock out function is also very nice.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

The major downfall to buildertrend is that its all online. A desktop version that allows for things to be undone, or save as feature. This would especially be helpful in the scheduling and selections

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem we had at our compant was perople clocking in while not at the job site, so the time clock along with the location pin has helped hold people accountable

the ability to connect with vendors through bids and submit change orders with homeowners too

not able to fully customize when it comes to some of the prompts.  so you're forced to go with the "standard" options that are preprogrammed

I like the notes function, the vendor and sub contractor tracking capability, and the folders to hold all job doicuments

I do not like the user interface with everything in the upper right or upper left. It's not very intuitive.

I like being able to review the history of the entries and also backing out entries that have data entry errors. I like the new platform, organization and the color schemes.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

My only dislike is that it is internet based and sometimes moves slowly when refreshing. However, it is not too bad compared to other software or to the point it is an issue.

Buildertrend platform is user-friendly and easy to navigate, and the tools and functionality are way advanced. It makes accounting tasks more accessible and the reports generated are very useful

Designed more for production home builders vs. custom, too many workarounds for specific nuances, could better support cost + contracts, contract signing is cumbersome and does not allow for two parties to easily sign (legal requirement in TX)

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

I love how we can keep all client communication with the company in one place. The change order feature is especially helpful

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

It doesn't have a lot of functionality for subcontractors and their schedules.

at this time not much
it might be helpful in the po payments screen and the bills/po's screen to have the date of the transactions without having to open the item

Integration with quickbooks can be clunky at times. Deferral of revenue could be better

Setting up and maintaining schedules is easy. Having all of the construction documents in place is very helpful. Owners can have as much or as little access as you provide to them. Tracking insuance for subcontractors is easy and helpful.

At times moving around the site can be a little slow. There is a small lag time but it is not terribly bad.

Keeping jobs on schedule. Time is money so the schedule tool is a huge help

Everything is in one place!  Our project managers can upload photos and daily logs.  We can keep track of leads and what stage of the process they are in. Our clients can see the progress on their home from their BT account.

Buildertrend has a good estimating and proposal builder format for smaller project types and easy-to-use estimates/budgets/PO integrations.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

Buildertrend does not have any ability to do Safety inspections, tracking, or incident reporting, which is a large part of a construction management software from the job site side of things.

We are moving from Buildertrend to another program because it does not serve all of our needs under one program.

I like how every department can easily access the documents and how they can update it from there.

It's not much but if you could find a better way rather than having too much window prompting after click would be nice.
