## About Boords
Storyboarding and animatic software for modern video teams.

## Boords Reviews
  ### 1. An Efficient Storyboarding Platform for Creative Teams

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeni J. | Software Dev , Ai Agents Builder, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Boords?**

I use Boords to create professional storyboards and animatics, and I love how easy it makes the process, from turning a script into visual scenes to organizing shot lists. The AI-assisted storyboard generation is a major time saver, providing me with a solid first draft to refine. The clean and intuitive interface makes collaboration seamless, and the built-in features like leaving comments and reviewing frames keep feedback organized, speeding up approvals. I also appreciate the export options for presentations, PDFs, and animatics, which make it easy to share production-ready storyboards. Setup was very easy, and the whole process saves time and reduces miscommunication, making revisions less of a hassle.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

One area I'd like to see improved is giving users more creative control over AI-generated storyboard frames, including finer adjustments for camera angles, character poses, and visual styles. I’d also appreciate deeper integrations with production tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Frame.io, or StudioBinder, along with more flexible export formats and version history features to make collaboration and revisions even smoother on larger projects.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Boords helps me create professional storyboards and shot lists, organizing scripts into visual sequences while collaborating with clients. It solves planning challenges by replacing scattered documents, speeds up pre-production, and allows for easy revisions without recreating storyboards from scratch.

  ### 2. AI Storyboards That Streamline Planning and Feedback in Boords

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muzammil M. | Founder – Muzammil Graphic | Interior and Graphic Designer | Transforming Spaces and Brands Visually , Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Boords?**

I started using Boords while planning short Islamic stories and educational videos before creating the final visuals. Instead of keeping scene ideas in separate notes and images, I could organize everything in one storyboard. The AI storyboard feature helped me generate an initial sequence from my script, which made it easier to visualize the flow. I still adjusted the scenes manually, but it saved a lot of planning time. Sharing the storyboard for feedback was also much easier because comments stayed attached to the exact frame.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

Before using Boords, I usually planned Islamic stories with rough notes and reference images, which made revisions confusing. Now I can organize scenes in sequence, review the complete story before production, and make changes without starting over. It has helped me present ideas more clearly, reduce planning time, and avoid unnecessary revisions during the design process.

  ### 3. Boords Streamlines Storyboarding with an Intuitive, All-in-One Workspace

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muhammed A. | Technical Project Manager , Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Boords?**

Boords has made storyboarding significantly faster and more organized by bringing scripts, scenes, feedback, and revisions into a single workspace. Before adopting it, planning visual projects meant juggling multiple documents, images, and feedback threads, which slowed collaboration and introduced unnecessary revisions. The intuitive interface makes it easy for both creative and non-technical team members to contribute, while smooth performance keeps large storyboards responsive. Flexible export options fit naturally into existing production workflows, reducing manual effort and improving communication with stakeholders. The time saved during pre-production has delivered a strong return on investment, and the short learning curve allows new team members to become productive quickly. AI-assisted capabilities also help accelerate brainstorming and storyboard creation, making the creative process more efficient without limiting creative control.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

While Boords is easy to use, some advanced collaboration and project management capabilities are still limited compared to larger creative platforms. Large storyboard projects can occasionally become harder to organize as the number of scenes grows, and I'd like to see more integrations with production and editing tools. Pricing may also feel high for freelancers or small teams, especially if they only need the platform for occasional projects. Expanding AI-assisted planning features and offering more customization options for workflows would make the platform even more valuable.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Boords, storyboard planning was spread across presentation slides, image folders, and lengthy feedback threads, making revisions difficult to track and slowing project approvals. Boords centralized the entire pre-production process into a single collaborative workspace where scripts, scenes, comments, and revisions are managed together. This has reduced review cycles, improved communication between stakeholders and creative teams, and shortened the time required to move from concept to production. The streamlined workflow has eliminated unnecessary back-and-forth, increased team productivity, and made project planning more predictable and efficient.

  ### 4. Streamlined Storyboarding, Needs Localization Tweaks

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sujan J. | Senior HR Manager, Human Resources, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Boords?**

The targeted frame commenting feature alone transformed how we align on HR video projects. Previously, I’d send full PowerPoint decks via email, and stakeholders would write vague feedback without referencing specific shots—this led to repeated misalignment, especially on DSGVO compliance training visuals that the Betriebsrat needs to sign off on. Now I can tag recruiters, marketing colleagues and works council reps right onto individual frames to leave precise notes. The complete version log saves every revision permanently, so I never risk rolling back to old, privacy-noncompliant artwork by mistake. The drag-and-drop frame editor is another huge time saver; reordering training video shots takes seconds instead of rebuilding entire slide layouts from scratch ahead of production.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

There is no native German user interface, and all platform navigation is only available in English. Most of our Betriebsrat members only operate in German, so walking them through the tool and explaining menu functions takes extra coordination time during every review cycle. There’s also no built-in German compliance terminology library for our GDPR training storyboards. Boords does not offer native Microsoft 365 or SharePoint integration. All finished storyboards must be manually exported as PDF and uploaded one by one to our central HR document archive, with no automatic version sync for audit trails required under German labor standards. Exported files don’t support custom brand templates matching Hays Germany’s official headers, footers and brand colour palette. I always have to import exports into PowerPoint for additional formatting before sharing finalized drafts internally. Bulk editing functionality is very limited too—when working on lengthy DSGVO training storyboards with dozens of frames, I have to adjust text and graphics frame by frame. While basic account creation and simple one-off storyboards are easy to set up, full onboarding tailored to our German HR use cases was clunky. There are no pre-built templates for recruitment campaign videos or data privacy training, so I built every reusable layout completely from the ground up.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before adopting Boords, all our recruitment and compliance video planning relied on separate PowerPoint slides and loose Word scripts shared over email. Feedback was fragmented, there was no reliable way to track different draft versions, and we frequently ran delays waiting on Betriebsrat approval for DSGVO training materials. Boords consolidates all storyboard drafts into a single shared workspace. Frame-locked comments eliminate ambiguous feedback threads, full version history mitigates compliance risks from outdated visuals, and drag-and-drop editing speeds up restructuring video sequences. Overall, it cuts our content review timelines significantly and gives us clear, audit-ready records of every stakeholder feedback round.

  ### 5. Boosts Storyboarding Efficiency with Easy Integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Owen S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Boords?**

I like how Boords organizes everything in a nice, easy place, making it simple to show clients. The ImageGen feature is especially nice and has probably boosted our sales since switching from using PDF documents. It gives us a better idea of the shots we're actually going to shoot on set. The integration with our CRM and project management software is smooth, and the API docs, even though they're in beta, are very helpful and handle 99% of the calls I need. The initial setup was straightforward—you just make an account and start creating storyboards.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

I have a lot of duplicate things that I can't delete, and there aren't enough buttons to organize projects and folders more easily. But other than that, that's a rare occurrence, and I'm very happy with it.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Boords organizes everything neatly, making it easy to show clients. ImageGen improved our sales and gave us a better idea of the shots for our sets.

  ### 6. Best Storyboard and Animation Creator

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Boords?**

You can paste a script or simply use a text prompt, and Boords will generate an entire storyboard outline and visual frames in seconds.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 7. Storytelling with ease

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** aditya p. | Businessman, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Boords?**

I’ve been using Boords.ai to storyboard my short film based on my solo travel experience and honestly, it’s been a game changer.

The UI is clean, intuitive, and perfect for beginners who are new to script visualization. I just upload my screenplay, add scenes, and the flow feels cinematic straight away.

The best part? It fits perfectly into my AI-based workflow. Would definitely recommend Boords to independent filmmakers, YouTubers, and solo creators in India who want to turn their story ideas into visual storyboards fast.
Excited to see more India-based features or community examples soon.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

While Boords drastically sped up my storyboard process, as a solo creator I found the cost a bit high for my usage. Also, when I tried pushing for very detailed scenes (cliff-jump, wave crash in Varkala style), I wished for more illustration control. And since I like working sometimes from beach cafés with spotty wifi, the web-only access was a minor snag

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Traditionally storyboarding meant juggling scripts, PPTs/PDFs/slides, images, then emailing feedback. Boords claims to unify script → storyboard → review in one tool.
boords.com. You get real-time commenting, version tracking, sharing links instead of sending files back and forth.

  ### 8. Made our entire storyboarding workflow faster, clearer, and more collaborative.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Animation | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Boords?**

Before switching to Boords, our storyboards came in from various contractors in different formats—Google Slides, Word docs, PDFs—which made the process messy and hard to manage. Boords helped us clean everything up and centralize the workflow.

Now, everything lives in one place. The frame-by-frame interface is intuitive and easy to learn, and the ability to import scripts, rearrange scenes, and leave comments makes collaboration with both internal teams and clients seamless. It’s especially helpful when collecting feedback and tracking progress across multiple contributors.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

Every now and then, a unique use case pops up that Boords doesn’t fully account for—but that’s completely expected in a creative business. More importantly, in the rare cases where something didn’t quite fit, the Boords support team was fast, helpful, and proactive in finding a solution. Their support has been consistently excellent.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Boords simplifies the client-facing side of storyboarding. Instead of piecing together feedback across formats, we can share a single, clear board that clients can easily follow, respond to, and approve. It’s improved communication and sped up approvals. This has been huge for us!

  ### 9. Boords has transformed our workflow

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dean J. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Boords?**

Boords has been transformative for our small virtual global agency. It's not only saved us thousands of hours (ok, I used to do storyboards via PowerPoint, seriously, don't laugh). Now the whole team uses it daily from conception to design to animation. Animatics are a breeze and easy to share with clients -- which helps cut down on review cycles with the rest of the team. It's fast, easy, scalable, and elegant.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

It's software, so things don't always go exactly as planned, but Boords is always very responsive and always pushing new features and updates. We've never got the impression they've just stopped innovating and improving. While they've made improvements in the storyboard creation process, I continue to originate concept slides outside of Boords and then bring them into the software.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Huge time savings. Cross functional across our global, virtual team. Sharable with clients. Allows us to scale storyboard distribution to clients early in the review process for quick feedback that saves design and animation cycles at a later time.

  ### 10. usefull app!

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

there should be more color options to create.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 11. Boords has been essential for constantly evolving, collaborative storyboarding.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maggie R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Boords?**

We signed up to Boords (finally) after embarking on a project which we knew was going to be very changeable from the start! It was instantly an invaluable part of our workflow as we spent all of our time storyboarding... and none of it manually re-ordering frames and frame numbers!

We've been able to collaborate with the team in real-time and also evolved our storyboarding by saving multiple versions quickly and easily (which the whole team can easily refer back to if needed). We've also used it to share with our clients - with the comments being a really efficient way to collaborate and get feedback. Couldn't be happier with the process and it's really helped us concentrate all of our time on the job at hand.

We've not really experimented with all of the tools yet, but know this positive experience can only get better once we start using more of the tools available.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

A few times we selected one frame to delete but hadn't realised we'd selected multiple frames (having clicked on one before without realising). Was a bit clunky to de-select and re-select.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flexible, dynamic storyboarding. Real-time collaboration. Easy sharing. Using comments for internal and client feedback.

  ### 12. An Essential Tool for Any Animation Studio!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sermet O. | Creative Director, Animation, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Boords?**

I first started using Boords in 2018, when I was working as a freelance art director in the motion graphics industry. The experience was transformative. Prior to discovering Boords.com, any change in the storyboard necessitated rearranging the whole thing, which was time-consuming and frustrating.

As the years passed, using Boords became a habit I could not give up. In the meantime, I have founded my own motion graphics studio, where I currently serve as the creative director. Today, Wonder & Render employs 20 creative professionals. Boords has proven to be an invaluable tool for our team. It enables us to seamlessly collaborate on projects, view progress in real time, and provide live reviews and feedback.

At the time of writing this review, we have created 590 storyboards over the past 5 years, all thanks to Boords. I highly recommend Boords for any animation studio, big or small.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

Having the ability to access archived storyboards would be a beneficial feature without unarchiving.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It greatly simplifies the storyboard creation process. Before using Boords, any change, no matter how small, meant we had to rearrange the entire storyboard.

Boords fosters collaboration within our team. It allows us to collectively work on a project, view updates in real time, and provide immediate feedback.

  ### 13. Exactly what we were searching for.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David F. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Boords?**

I work in writing partnerships, and when we block a film we block it in person on index cards. Today's world is more virtual for better or worse, but Boords makes it better.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

The only thing tricky is you need to be VERY careful to make sure you're only deleting the cards you want to delete. A mysterious other card may be clicked on but hidden from view. Always be sure to look up on the top left to see 'how many cards are chosen'.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Virtual work space. Sometimes we just can't be in the same place at the same time. And sometimes when we're in polishing mode, we're better off virtual. Covid had some benefits, in that we figured that out.

  ### 14. Creates organizes and collaborates

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matheus S. | Owner, Leisure, Travel & Tourism, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Boords?**

Its an feature that saves us time. The software keeps getting better with each update providing new features for us to leverage. Boords is a pre production tool that provide our animation.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

The options for customizing storyboard layouts and visuals are somewhat limited. Nonetheless the collaboration and feedback features make up for these limitations.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Boords has completely transformed my workflow. Made it faster and more easy than before. It creates organizes and collaborates on storyboards. Using Boords has been incredibly beneficial, for my business.

  ### 15. Extremely useful

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Seni S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2023

**What do you like best about Boords?**

As the owner of Keystone Media, I can confidently say that Boords is an indispensable tool for our animation studio. Boords provides a complete set of pre-production software tools that make it easy for us to create top-notch storyboards and animatics.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

While Boords is an excellent pre-production software, the UX could be slightly improved. However, this has not significantly impacted our team's productivity, and I generally like using Boords for our animation studio.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saves us time.

  ### 16. Simple, Speedy, and Stylish

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Boords?**

I adore how much you can customize your Boords experience. There are so many helpful tools you can tailor to your speficic production.
Along with that, is a visually beaitful experince. When creating the boord, the click and drag system makes for an effortless workflow, and having the option to export clear and aesthetic PDFS has been game-changing.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

My only dislike now is wishing for a few more PDF layout options to optimize branding customization.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is the perfect storyboarding tool to pitch ideas to clients.

  ### 17. Transformed our storyboarding

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam C. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Boords?**

Before Boords we had to do everything verbally or via email which at times became difficult to keep on top of, now we can collaborate on one shared platform across the team and with our clients. The software allows commenting, animatics and has such a simple system that we can make highly creative storyboards quickly that have transformed how we collaborate.

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

Not much! There were a few niggles in the early days but the team at Boords consistently improve the software, each update has valuable new features we can use with ease.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Boords if helping us tell stories better. It's allowing collaboration and clarity across the whole of production and with our clients. It's also helping to increase creativity as people so easily and intuitively take part in the creative process on Boords.

  ### 18. I was looking for this software before it even existed!

**What do you like best about Boords?**

Easy collaboration with my clients. No exporting of PDFs or trouble tracking versions. It all happens seamlessly on the platform and my clients find it easy to provide feedback .

**What do you dislike about Boords?**

Sometimes the drawing feature can be a bit buggy, but I normally create my frames in Illustrator which can be quickly and easily uploaded to Boords.

**What problems is Boords solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy sharing, collaboration and feedback which saves my time and client budget.
