BMC Helix CMDB Reviews & Product Details

What I like the most and the advantages of using BMC Helix is that it is very intuitive and you can have everything in one system: inventory, tickets or claims, knowledge bases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

At the moment, I haven't found any disadvantages or anything I really dislike; it is always evolving and open to changes suggested by users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Compared to the BMC Remedy build in CMDB, there are a lot of improvements in the new platform, and I like the fact that it`s made more intuititive and straightforward Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I don`t think that there are actually things i dislike like i mentioned there are a lot of improvements and i don`t think there is something which should be disliked Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best part is we do a lot of process automation and we keep querying cmdb to check if the machine is still present or decommissioned. And not only automation but even the other teams use cmdb for their day to day operations Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Not exactly dislike but looks like service now ITSM is gaining a lot of attention these days from our customers and often we are asked about comparing both Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This tool made our asset management job easier by helping us create an accurate CMDB & required ecosystem for delivering required services. I really liked the one-click CMDB sync feature using an OOTB (out-of-the-box) integration method. The reconciliation of CI data is smooth & easy to handle.

I really liked how it helped us to plan changes on our infrastructure & related applications by making the whole impact analysis process automated & easier for all the stakeholders to make decisions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The GUI is basic & not that fancy. However, it serves the purpose without any issues. It will take some time, in order to use & understand the connecters correctly. No major hiccups with connectivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

In terms of performance for data processing, reporting and user load very nice application as it comes from BMC banner. It comes with spoon integration tool with out of the box connectors for integration with different external applications. We have it on Premise installation. We have implemented it in server group with 8 applications servers and 2 load balancer and 2 web server. Robust performance. Nice graphical UI. Available in both Windows and Web console. This application is very unstable as on when we faced issue with application down or inaccessible.

Very bed UI for both Windows and Web. I don't know why BMC don't use space available on user screens. They just keep everything on upper left corner and rest of the space remains empty.

Customization is very complex and so many different windows to monitor running jobs. AI jobs, recon jobs and Spoons jobs all are in different windows. No central location for all jobs.

Very tough to trace user logs and activities.
