Parents have a platform that transitions right from their student's profile to a payment window for tuition. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Merchant Services?** It has a lot of features and options which could lead to some confusion as a user attempts to navigate. The interface is way too much and the basic user would become very scrambled. **What problems is Blackbaud Merchant Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** It serves as a great bridge from our donor pages to our tuition pages. It links into our SIS and allows parents to navigate to payments easily. Parents and benefactors can donate gifts or make tuition payments all within the same universal system that Molloy promotes (Blackbaud). They don't have to navigate into another system. ### 2. Being able to choose output and detail level is great. Additionally, I am able to search for past transactions and refund dollars, if necessary, right from the interface. I can also set up security settings and easily access the disbursement schedule from the Home screen. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Merchant Services?** Now that we are utilizing Complete Cover from Blackbaud (which we really enjoy), I do not have an option of refunding a portion of a donation. It is all or nothing now, whereas in the past we could choose how much to refund. I also do not like not being able to see whether a donor chooses to participate in helping cover the fee or not when giving through one of our donation forms. I do not need to know the amount; I would just like to see if they're participating at all. **What problems is Blackbaud Merchant Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** Since BBMS integrates seamlessly with RE NXT, we do not have to fuss with a third party option to process our credit card payments. We are able to build various donation and event forms in NXT and know that BBMS will process all payments directly. ### 4. The BBMS portal is easy to use and navigate **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Merchant Services?** Reporting on the merchant account is sometimes different out of the portal than what we pull for the merchant account in Luminate Online. Troubleshooting this with BlackBaud has been problematic at best. **Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud Merchant Services:** Ensure that an SLA is in place regarding turnaround time response for support tickets - we had difficulty getting a timely response from BBMS on several occasions, always with high priority issues! **What problems is Blackbaud Merchant Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** We used BBMS as the payment processor for our Luminate Online production tenant. Having the connection between BBMS and LO was helpful as the confirmation numbers were the same across both systems, removing the need for any kind of lookup table or creation of a primary key between the two systems as the user confirmation code exists in both areas. ### 7. We also use it as a mobile face-to-face transaction service too which we are excited to use more post-pandemic. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Merchant Services?** Blackbaud Merchant Services (BBMS) does leave a longing for better reporting. We wish more flexibility was available with the donor information provided in reports and confirmation emails from the Raiser's Edge product integrations we use it with (RE 7/Online Express and RE NXT). It's not very printer-friendly either if you have to label transactions a certain way based on organization-based procedures. **What problems is Blackbaud Merchant Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** BBMS brings together multiples of our Blackbaud products into one credit card processing platform, which eases the burden of PCI Compliance and maintenance. This has made it easier for overall processing and not having to retrieve transaction information from different processors. ### 8. The dashboard is very user friendly. The way to process money and refund is easy. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Merchant Services?** Information isn't always easy to find. When someone enters their name and information in - Blackbaud merchant doesn't show that. So I have to play detective regularly figuring out the name on the card and matching it with the name they entered that is in eTapestry. **What problems is Blackbaud Merchant Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** Processing online donations for my nonprofit. People like using their credit cards and paying for things online, having Blackbaud Merchant it allows our donors the ease of donating and the security. ### 9. I do not use the site a lot, but I usually did not have any trouble getting around. Blackbaud is great about security and also keeping the site updated often. That can be good and bad, as you will see from my dislikes below. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Merchant Services?** I do not like that I have to change my password all the time, as it always seems to need updated. I did not log in to this site often, but it seems that every time I did, I would need to change the password. I like that they keep the site secure, but I think some other verification would be better. I also did not like having to call the 800 number for questions. I was on hold a long time and rarely got my question answered to the extent that I needed. I think better notification of updates would be great as well, as I usually just had a quick overview when I logged in and then everything would be different, and I would have to relearn navigating the site. We did have trouble tying donations on to this, so I believe that we switched to another program, so not sure if Blackbaud is keeping up with trends and technology. Perhaps we were trying something not adaptable or that would work with Blackbaud, but I think staying with trends of giving is important. **Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud Merchant Services:** It takes some getting used to, but it can be a great program. I was not trained in a professional training seminar, so perhaps if I attended a professional training, I would know more. **What problems is Blackbaud Merchant Services solving and how is that benefiting you?** Giving is all in one site, so that is great, but there are several log ins.. maybe a link to get me everywhere?? I do like the ease of being able to have it all in one company, as the billing was just one place. We did have trouble with that as well, though, as we had a billing snag. We received several bills some with credits and some with charges, and it was very confusing.
