BlackArgus Focus – Scam Detection and Comment Moderation for YouTube BlackArgus Focus is desktop software that helps protect YouTube channels and their communities from scam comments. It monitors comments, detects patterns of fraud and deception, and can automatically hide suspected scams when explicitly enabled—reducing manual moderation and helping protect viewers and a creator’s reputation. Detection combines rules with a statistical model to identify obvious scams and subtle approaches. These include personal recommendations, fabricated success stories, and offers of help intended to build trust and steer viewers toward external contact channels or fraudulent offers. Analysis also considers commenters posing as satisfied customers, helpful experts, independent supporters, or creator representatives. Key Features - Channel-wide monitoring: Checks published comments across a connected channel, including new comments on older videos. - Multi-stage detection: Examines suspicious offers, contact requests, scam funnels, deceptive language, disguised spellings, and character variations. - Potential impersonation detection: Checks for signs of creator name or profile picture imitation and groups suspicious accounts with their comments for review. - Automatic hiding: Can hide comments classified as fraudulent once explicitly enabled, with separate controls for each channel. - Observation mode: Shows flagged comments without making changes to the channel. - Manual review: Presents uncertain cases so users can decide whether comments remain visible or are hidden. - Explainable assessments: Provides classifications, explanations, and filters for reviewing comments, authors, and results. - Moderation history and reversal: Tracks actions and supports reversing eligible hiding actions within the available period, subject to platform capabilities and retained data. - Dashboard and analytics: Shows reviewed comments, suspicious posts, pending decisions, moderation activity, and channel status. - Optional AI assessment: Supports supplementary assessments through a configurable local AI model or supported external service. Disabled by default. Local Processing and Creator Control Standard analysis and regular working data are processed locally on the user’s computer. Focus connects to YouTube to retrieve comments and perform moderation actions. Optional external AI services involve additional data transfers to those services. Creators control when Focus only monitors and when it takes automated action, leaving more time for content creation and community engagement.
