"Great PDM/PLM software, easy to use and practical solution"
What do you like best about Bild?

BILD offers great PDM capabilities, and working with it has allowed our company to perform work remotely while keeping all of our data organized. It’s easy to use, and the customer support has been excellent. There are multiple updates throughout the year that help improve customer satisfaction. Implementation and onboarding for new users is also a straightforward process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bild?

Some features are only available in the web version, but after multiple updates to the desktop version over the last year, this has improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Document Management with Room for Improvement"
What do you like best about Bild?

I like that Bild has allowed us to more easily share and organize files and create more automated BOM management, which helps us avoid typos and human errors. I like the quick and easy metadata management and built-in feedback options. It's nice to be able to customize the metadata and create different types of data inputs, like dropdown menus. The built-in feedback is very nice to be able to draw and add notes directly to the drawing and submit the feedback for review through Bild itself. This keeps the communication organized and tracked. Bild also allows us to maintain our BOM and create ECOs as well as have an easy-to-use file management system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bild?

The revisioning methods don't work well for our workflow. The revisions up rev on release, and we would like the revision to up rev when we begin editing. This creates confusion when releasing REV 2, because when going back to make edits, it still shows rev 2 during editing and doesn't change to rev 3 until after release. Even though rev 2 has been released, it says rev 2 as we're making changes towards the next design. We would also like to edit file names in BILD without breaking SolidWorks links. The initial setup took time, needing manual creation of levels in our Excel BOM before uploading to BILD. Uploading files for new projects is also time-consuming; we want to name parts by Part Number but can't until uploaded into BILD. Afterwards, renaming required doing it outside BILD, then uploading and pairing with the old name. Additionally, we'd like to add raw PDFs to ECOs and have them download when exporting PDFs. Response from Jordan Ritchie of Bild

Thanks for the thoughtful review! We’re glad to hear Bild has helped streamline file sharing, organization, and BOM management, and that features like metadata customization and built-in feedback are making communication and reviews easier for your team. Reducing manual errors and keeping everything connected in one place is a big part of what we’re aiming to deliver.

We also appreciate the feedback around revisioning, file renaming, and project setup. Different teams have different release and revision workflows, and input like this helps us prioritize improvements so Bild fits more real-world workflows.

Thanks again for your feedback and for being part of the Bild community.

"Fast File Sharing and Easy Document Viewing"
What do you like best about Bild?

Its really fast to share Files, I like the ability to see documents on the platform Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bild?

that somethings cannot be done in both platforms (WEB and Desktop App) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jordan Ritchie of Bild

Thanks so much for the feedback! We’re glad to hear file sharing in Bild has been fast and that the built-in document viewer has been helpful for your team.

One of our core goals with Bild is to remove the slow server and VPN bottlenecks that many teams on legacy PDMs experience, so it’s awesome to see that impact in your day-to-day work.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience with Bild.

"User-Friendly with Solid Database Support"
What do you like best about Bild?

I find Bild fairly easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bild?

sometimes it is hard to checkout a file and open without a readonly error. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jordan Ritchie of Bild

Thanks for your feedback! We’re glad to hear you’ve found Bild easy to use and that it’s supporting your robotics design database needs.

Regarding the occasional read-only checkout issue, this can sometimes be related to local file state or connection conditions. Our support team is always happy to take a quick look, and we’re continuously improving file handling to make these situations even smoother.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience with Bild.

"Bild 2.44.0 Review"
What do you like best about Bild?

- Quick startup and integration once licenses are purchased (under 20 minutes from receiving licenses to having our first collaborators and parts in our system)

- Native Solidworks support, support for a variety of different file types outside of .sldprt and .sldasm

- Easy profile (Lib Feat Part) organization through Design Library, which allows for consistent profiles across different projects. Design library has also allowed us to reduce the variety of hardware on our vehicles as the organization and access to this is easier than ever.

- Seamless user permissions control - allows for various access levels and pre-made profiles for general users.

- Folder templates keep consistent descriptions, cost, supplier, and check-out staus easy top-down organization.

- The check-out system and revision tracking are intuitive and easy for admins to control.

- Great video resources and troubleshooting resources. Even when problems aren't solved with these (very rare, they cover most bases) customer support is very available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bild?

- Transition between web browser and desktop app can be a little clunky at times. Some features available in the web browser are not always available in the desktop version (deleting files, forcing check-outs for other users, etc...). Easy enough to work around once you "get" the software and understand how it works (very small learning curve).

- It would be great if descriptions for Design Library parts could be in Solidworks. Figuring out the difference between parts without description usually has us going back and forth between Bild and Solidworks, which sometimes slows us down.

- BOM Management is not available with student licenses in 2.44.0. Otherwise, software is completely the same between professional and student.

- If you as an admin have a part checked out, you cannot delete your part from Bild without checking it in first. Very minor complaint (and I can see why you wouldn't want to delete checked-out parts) but it seems like you should be able to do this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Superb CAD management and brilliant support"
What do you like best about Bild?

Bild makes it very easy to keep track of changes in CAD files, which is especially useful for avoiding - or being able to revert - mistakes that lead to CAD assemblies breaking. In our case, we maintain a large assembly for our Fornax rocket, which benefits greatly from the Bild system. Thanks to Bild, we have been able to fix many of the mate and reference faults that had manifested due to the previous CAD management system we used. The customer support is top notch - big thanks to Yeimy who has helped DanSTAR with everything from acquiring Bild to specific usage related questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bild?

Bild's check-in and check-out system with respect to large assembly files can sometimes be confusing, as it can sometimes neglect to check out certain files that are needed to save a checked-out assembly properly. More specifically this happened when Bild's automatic system didn't recognise that a certain sub-assembly of a large assembly file needed to be checked out along with all the other parts/sub-assemblies in that assembly file, which meant that it couldn't be saved, as the certain sub-assembly file was still read-only (checked in). Whether this was user error or not is unclear, but it was at the very least confusing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Paly Robotics, or Team 8 FRC ,Bild Review"
What do you like best about Bild?

Bild provides a variety of tools that have been extremely helpful to our team. For example, the 'Check-in/out' feature has been straightforward to use and has simplified issues that we had when it came to overriding others' work. Additionally, it was extremely easy to implement with our Computer Aided Design software, SOLIDWORKS. Bild has become a fundamental part of our team's design process whether it be for sharing or collaborating on work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bild?

When it comes to the downsides of Bild, only one comes to mind, and although it is not an issue, I would greatly appreciate it if the web and desktop applications were made more consistent with one another. An example of this is that contrary to the downloaded application, the web version of Bild allows for the display of uploaded parts without having to download them. Otherwise Bild has been amazing to our team and has helped us in ways that we cannot count. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent User Experience, Ideal Tool for Managing Files, Great Integration with Add-Ins"
What do you like best about Bild?

Bild is by far the best replacement for GrabCad that we have found. We are a team of mechanical and electrical engineers from across the country working on a complex design in Solidworks. We make use of several Solidworks Add-Ins to support the design of our electrical subsystem. Bild allows us to perform part checkin and checkout functions, and works well with a variety of file types that are needed to support these Solidworks Add-Ins. We have found the user interface to be very user-friendly, and allows us to collaborate very easily while maintaining revision history. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bild?

As a team, we do not have any complaints about Bild. We have found it to be very reliable, and would recommend it to other users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
