The tool itself is very easy for our consultants to use for entering time and expenses as well as other casual users to perform basic tasks in the system with minimal training. The other side of that is the flexibility for advanced users to configure the system to accurately record project information and financials in structured environments. **What do you dislike about BigTime Projector?** There are still a lot of functions that require the client interface. The majority of these are being moved to the web but until that is completed we have users frustrated that they can not exclusively use the web interface. Areas such as managed services and work order assignation fall out of this tool's sweet spot although I am told there is new managed services functionality on the way. **What problems is BigTime Projector solving and how is that benefiting you?** When we started with Projector we were looking for a tool which allowed us to track time and expenses on a project and group basis as well as allow for capacity planning. We moved on to where our biggest challenge was ensuring we were preparing the financial information correctly for integration into other systems. We are able to map complex contracts into Projector so they are easy for the consultants to work with and yet still transfer accurately to our other systems. ### 9. But as we learnt more about it we realized that it is a powerful, practical solution that has been designed to address real-world requirements, rather than requiring us to distort our business to fit in with the tool. Whenever we ask “can Projector handle this?”, there is normally a positive answer. Specific “best” areas include resource management, reporting, time entry and approval, the ability to integrate with other systems, and the very responsive customer support. **What do you dislike about BigTime Projector?** The current mix of functionality between the “desktop client” Management Portal and the “thin client” Web Portal can be a slight concern, requiring the use of different portals at different times. But one portal can connect to the other, which simplifies this. Project Managers won’t find full Microsoft Project task management functionality, so need to decide whether Projector task management is sufficient, or whether they should use a tool such as Microsoft Project alongside Projector. **Recommendations to others considering BigTime Projector:** The product is more powerful than it might first seem – bear this in mind when comparing with other products. We have also achieved more up to date time entry due to the easy interface and the facilities for flagging missing time. Management information has also improved by using Projector reporting. Most systems can do the normal project management tasks, but its the power to be able to deep dive into your project data that makes Projector so valuable. The reporting is just amazing and I don't know any other system that has the different types of reports and the way a user can chop and change fields so easily to get very detailed reporting. I also love the easy ability to integrate with almost any system out there. For example we have Salesforce, Home grown internal systems and our our HR system are integrated into Projector for online dashboards. **What do you dislike about BigTime Projector?** The entire tool needs to be ported to the web. At present it is a mix between a tool on your computer versus time sheets, dashboards etc. are on a web portal. **Recommendations to others considering BigTime Projector:** I would strongly recommend this tool anyone who wants more than the average project management tool. **What problems is BigTime Projector solving and how is that benefiting you?** We originally were looking for a resourcing tool, but have since fed our sales pipe line into projector, as well as out HR leave data, expense approval data, whereby we can mange project costs by time, revenue and expenses. It has provided our organization great insight into our resources, our revenue, our adherence to time entry and project management (among other items). The set up of this module was pretty simple, and the capabilities are really powerful and have helped our organization view our data in a macro way to identify trends and impacts that were previously going unnoticed. It has helped us manage write offs, and customer management gaps that were previously flying under the radar to ensure we capture more revenue and have happier customers. Additionally, I've loved working with Projector, they have been a fantastic partner, anytime we have a question about the product or how to do something, they answer quickly, professionally, and it's clear that they know their product inside and out as well as have a good understanding of our ask and why it's pertinent to our business. They really are just a great partner to work with. **What do you dislike about BigTime Projector?** Some of the functionality remains in their desktop app (manager portal), while this is powerful it is a bit dated, however, they are actively working to move, improve, and expand this functionality to the web and with each new release they are doing just that. The developers clearly understand the professional service workflow. Support and account management from the developers is excellent, with quick response times and careful attention to detail. Training is also very good. The system takes a little while to get used to, and the back-end appears complex and a little clunky, but the workflow is well thought out and it is simple enough to use. There is a new web interface for timesheets and other user functions, and this is excellent. **What do you dislike about BigTime Projector?** Transition to web interface has been very slow. The existing back end is very robust, but a little clunky. Vendor invoice functionality seems overly complex. **Recommendations to others considering BigTime Projector:** Try it and don't be put off because the back end does not look quite as slick as others. The main reasons I recommend it are the ease of use, intuitiveness and ability to manage the entire life cycle of complex projects, starting with integration with our CRM all the way through to revenue recognition and invoicing that integrates with our general ledger. Projector allows consultants the ability to easily enter their time and expenses, see their upcoming schedules and request time off. It allows project managers to manage project budgets, timelines and resource management, and it allows management to easily report on KPIs and metrics. **What do you dislike about BigTime Projector?** Feedback from our consultants and sales reps who travel frequently suggest that the mobile app could improve. I've been very pleased with the pace of their progress. (the platform was built with as PC only desktop management portal). The web based tools are user friendly and increasingly powerful for reporting and analytics. **What do you dislike about BigTime Projector?** The mobile capabilities for expense tracking are only through a mobile browser based app and that workflow is not all that great. As a traveling sales person I'd much prefer a native app with really quick capture for photos of receipts and expense tracking. Works in a pinch, but not ideal. **Recommendations to others considering BigTime Projector:** Make sure you have someone who will really learn it's ins and outs to make sure that your organization will get the most out of it. There really a lot of powerful features that I'm sure we don't get all we could out it. **What problems is BigTime Projector solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have much more granular tracking of time and expenses and it makes it easy for us to report key metrics out to our clients on our project. With regard to getting visibility into budgeted and actual hours worked, have you tried using a Project Portfolio report? There are quite a few ways to access this information depending on how your firm uses Projector, but the Project Portfolio report provides a nice roll up. Alternatively, you could use the Project Dashboard to view this information without needing to run a report. Plus data can be exported to Excel or other formats so you can create your own reports. **What do you dislike about BigTime Projector?** The application is currently split into two: the web portal (which users record time and expenses), and the management console (PC only). Works really well, but it would be nice to have it all in one place. While the reporting modules are is great, creating reports can be complex and required a fairly deep knowledge of the product. Needs improvement with GL integration. Budget in Projector PSA sometimes does not tie to actual budget due to the timing of billing.
