The only kicker with Bchex really isn't Bchex's doing. Some states/counties have extra hidden fees and that can sometimes bulk up the price if a candidate (which I use bchex for) has lived in a ton of different areas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I really appreciate how quickly we receive background check results; it helps us onboard new staff efficiently and get our volunteers approved to be in our schools as soon as possible. Our experiences with customer service are generally the same. Getting quick responses to our questions is very helpful. The chat feature is my favorite - even if someone is not available right away I like that it automates a ticket and I receive responses via email. I find the discrepancy results confusing. Instead of adding accuracy, they actually seem to make things less clear. The "it could be this, it could mean that" kind of wording doesn’t help me understand whether we should be approving or denying someone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love how Bchex is very versatile, especially with the Applicant Express tool that lets me reach out to prospective volunteers without them needing to sign a form or visit in person. The user interface is also a highlight for me. It's good and pretty easy to navigate between different sections, which means I rarely need help support. I also find the filtering tool very useful; it lets me see who's due for a background check, and it's pretty fast at pulling data, even with a lot of volunteers in our system. I wish Bchex had the option to set reminders for when someone is due for a background check, like after a year. It would be great if there was a feature to rescreen applicants automatically, instead of having to start a whole new process after the year has passed. It's very easy to use. Results typically come back very quickly. From a pricing perspective they seem to be competitive. They added the monthly access fee a few years ago and I still don't like that. But, it works well overall. I have had very few reasons to requests support, but when I have it's generally been quick. One area I find challenging with Bchex is the overall layout and organization, particularly within the Orders section. The navigation can feel somewhat difficult to follow, and it is not always intuitive to locate information quickly.

I also find it difficult to find older orders. When I need to go back and reference a previous order, the process can be time-consuming, and it would be helpful to have a more streamlined way to search, filter, and access historical orders. Improving the organization and search functionality would make the system much more user-friendly and efficient, especially when working with a large volume of orders.

I don't love that we have to download the reports ourselves to be able to add them to our separate management system. It doesn't have an integration available for Planning Center, which is where we keep the rest of our records. I like Bchex because they are thorough and timely, and their customer service is excellent.
