Standards support, documentation, ease of use, power and performance

Some of the configuration options are slightly obscure, but that is being very picky

**Recommendations to others considering BaseX:**

I have been working with XML for about 20 years.   This is honestly the best tool I have ever encountered for working with data in XML format.

Parsing data definitions
Transforming data
Testing and validating outputs

**What do you like best about BaseX?**

BaseX has wonderful XQuery support including XQuery 3.0. Documentation is a true artwork.

**What do you dislike about BaseX?**

It was a little inconvenient to manually set java heap size option when working with larger files

Excellent multi platform tool for metadata analysis

I use BaseX to collect and analyze enterprise metadata from various sources. 
BaseX can import data in many formats including XML,JSON and CSV
