I like to also have a choice, cheaper and innovative services (especially the ones for containers like AKS), but I’m also very picky at the same time. It allows users to manage resources deployed within Azure and outside of Azure through the same control plane taking advantage of the automation capabilities available through ARM templates and Azure API. Itdoesn’t need hardware since any Linux or Windows VM can be registered and managed through Azure. **What do you dislike about Azure Arc?** It is pricy and requires some training for users to fully utilize its capabilities. **Recommendations to others considering Azure Arc:** It is a very handy product with a number of very useful features and I would recommend it. **What problems is Azure Arc solving and how is that benefiting you?** Hybrid cloud approaches bring greater complexity but Azure Arc makes it very easy and less complex by providing unified control of resources whether those resources are on-premises, in Azure or in multi-cloud. ### 18. Also it is a Kubernetes-based platform that allows you to deploy Azure data services, which currently include Azure SQL Database Managed Instance and Azure PostgreSQL Hyperscale. **What do you dislike about Azure Arc?** Billing is a difficult challenge as it is managed differently with Azure [compared with] on-prem. **Recommendations to others considering Azure Arc:** With Azure Arc, Microsoft has expanded the support for ARM to resources running outside of Azure. This means, a physical server running in a data center looks like a compute resource in the eyes of the Fabric Controller. Even VMs running on top of VMware vSphere, Amazon EC2, and Google Compute Engine can be registered with the Azure Resource Manager. Any Windows or Linux server - even those running behind a firewall and proxy - can be registered with ARM. The external VMs run a similar software like the agent that runs inside Azure VMs. Apart from VMs, Azure ARC can also register Kubernetes clusters. Once onboard, any external Kubernetes cluster can be managed like Azure’s own Kubernetes service, AKS.
