What do you like best about AwardSpring Scholarship Management?

AwardSpring has given our small organization the ability to manage our scholarship program efficiently and effectively. The platform makes the entire process seamless. From students submitting applications, to our Review Board evaluating and selecting recipients, to awarding scholarships. What do you dislike about AwardSpring Scholarship Management?

This is not a dislike, but an area where AwardSpring could improve for us is renewable scholarship functionality. Setting up the renewal scholarship schedule has been a challenge, and the process doesn't easily support funders reviewing the items students submit for renewal. What problems is AwardSpring Scholarship Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our scholarship applications used to be paper-based, which often resulted in incomplete applications or students applying for scholarships they weren't eligible for. With AwardSpring, we've streamlined the application process so students only see and apply for scholarships they're actually eligible for. This has led to more complete, stronger applications overall. Having the entire scholarship process on one platform has also been a major time saver, and it's allowed us to grow our scholarship program, creating more opportunities for students in the process. "A Great Scholarship Platform with Exceptional Customer Service"

What do you like best about AwardSpring Scholarship Management?

The customer service from AwardSpring to both staff, students, and scholarship administrators is truly special. Our scholarship applications tripled from implementing this software. I estimated that this saved us almost 160 hours of work by implementing the software. The lift on the institution was minimal compared to other products. The free training after implementation has been great. The price compared to other vendors and what it has accomplished has been great. The platform is user-friendly for both students and administrators. The ability to match students to scholarships with accuracy is wonderful. There is nothing I dislike about AwardSpring. Anything that I didn't like was more about us not trusting the product to do what it does. I sometimes worried that our data was not clean enough to do what it needed to do, but AwardSpring has proved me wrong every time. Prior to implementing AwardSpring, we spent countless hours on paper applications, Excel documents, manual processes. We struggled with getting good scholarship application numbers. As I mentioned, we have tripled the number of QUALIFIED Scholarship applicants & no longer have to match students manually to scholarships. This saved us almost 160 hours of work. The proverbial problem of not having enough time! Award Spring has saved our Scholarship Committee hours because we can assign applications for review then use the scoring system to rank and award scholarships. You are right about the human factor: the scoring ranks the field, and your committee still makes the call, which is how it should work. On the thank-you notes duplicating when a student wins more than one scholarship, that is a real wrinkle and you should not have to solve it alone. I truly appreciate how quick and friendly Award Spring’s customer service is. The platform itself is user-friendly and intuitive, which has significantly streamlined what was once a rigorous, manual scholarship process. I couldn’t be more satisfied. Occasionally, the timing of updates can be challenging—especially when they coincide with the start of a scholarship cycle—but Award Spring is usually very responsive in helping us resolve any issues that arise. I also wish there were a simpler way to provide feedback to applicants about their scholarship submissions.I have seen in the updates coming this fall and next spring that there will be some AI integrations that should help with any issues I'm having with this. We completely understand that by updating the software every 6-8 weeks or so we sometimes run into bad timing with application cycles opening and/or closing. We've made changes in the last few weeks that allow us to roll out software changes with no downtime, and we're always running webinars on how our platform changes from release to release, so let us know if there's anything we can do to further minimize impact.

AwardSpring Scholarship Management has solved several significant challenges in our scholarship application and review process. Prior to implementing AwardSpring, our scholarship application system was home-grown and required extensive manual effort. Staff had to use spreadsheets to identify and remove ineligible applicants, manually process and organize submitted documents, and manage reviews outside of a centralized system. With AwardSpring, eligibility criteria are built directly into the application process, ensuring that only eligible students can apply for scholarships. The platform also eliminates the need for manual processing of submitted documents, as application materials are collected and organized automatically. In addition, scholarship reviews are conducted directly within the platform, creating a more efficient, streamlined, and consistent review experience for staff and committee members. These improvements have reduced administrative workload, minimized the risk of processing errors, and allowed our team to focus more on supporting students and managing scholarship programs strategically. I love that they are always available to answer our questions-especially during the crazy scholarship season! So many issues arise during the process, and you need answers on the fly. We are so happy with how they respond and are at the ready. I also love the way that they help to teach us how to fix and prevent issues in the future. Honestly, there is really nothing that we dislike as we have been able to adapt to any issues and incorporate them into our program. I think that we have also found that some of the new adaptations are actually more efficient! We have found that suggestions and questions that we have are heard and really looked at to see if it might be a better way. We never feel dismissed and we are heard. If anyone is questioning it, let me tell you to just do it! It has added so much to our program and we feel that we have made the right choice. With 44 funds and an additional 15 through our affiliate we found it to be easy, user friendly and gave us a real boost in our applicants and quality of the application. What problems is AwardSpring Scholarship Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

We began to realize that the paper application is not ideal, especially because it isn't relevant to our intended audience. We needed to make an impact on high school or college students and that meant evolving and realizing that our intended audience lives online. You apply for jobs online, apply for colleges online and most students and young adults begin and end their search on a computer. In order to keep up with the times, we had to move to the online platform. We have found that we have been able to remove some of the responsibility of the school system with sending transcripts and have been able to really count on the letters of recommendations to be authentic. Every year, there was a question to the LOR's and if they were real. We had no way to follow up to question that authenticity but with the link being sent to the person writing the letter, it was impossible for the student to manipulate the letter. The benefits that we have realized is that it has really allowed more students to apply and has really cut down on the process of printing and we are so pleased to be able to login in at any time and check something with ease. It has also been great as we are all working remotely and meetings were so easy as we could all be viewing the same application at the same time without having to print a lot of copies and snail mail them. In the past, the deadline, while true, seemed to drag on due to the mail and delivery of applications. With this system, we are able to "turn the application off" at 5 pm and that is that! It was refreshing to not be worried what was coming in the mail three days after the deadline. We were also challenged with students not submitting complete applications and the question as to whether we as an organization was fair in the decision-making process. The ability to demonstrate fairness was easy with our customized scorecards, and really made the whole process fair and equitable. Numbers don't lie and it was apparent that the students that were at the top of the pack were there because of their accomplishments, not because of being a favorite of a staff member or reviewer. We are also very excited about the donor features. While a lot of our donors are no longer with us, their family members are. This is helping us to bridge the gap. We love that they are able to login and help us to introduce the donors to the students and their families. We feel that it is important that the students know about the donors and why they created funds. We have students that have received multi year scholarships and have really wonderful relationships with our donors who contributed to their college success.
