## AutoTURN Reviews
  ### 1. Good Software, But Refund Handling Felt Inflexible and Disappointing

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bruce G. | Investor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

The product itself is clearly capable and well-designed, and I can see how it would be valuable for the right user.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

My experience, was disappointing due to how a refund request was handled.

Within about 10 days of purchase (and very limited use), I requested a refund after realizing the software was more robust than I needed. I was initially told the refund would be processed, but that position was later reversed and I was denied both a full or even partial refund.

At $680 a year, that level of inflexibility, especially after being told otherwise was frustrating and left a poor impression.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Was trying to lay out a parking lot for efficiency

  ### 2. Functional

**Reviewed by:** Gregg F. | IT Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2025

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

* Works with Civil3D
* Perpetual to Subscription Service removed outdated internal license server software
* Subscription Service works with SSO

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

* Difficult to refresh software for a reinstall or new versions of AutoCAD installed on the machine that work with AutoTURN.
* Admin user and usage reporting and data downloading in the platform isn't much better than the outdated internal license server software it replaced.
* Subscription Service's new 24-hour user lockout "feature" negates the ability for agile employees working on different projects without buying a license for each employee.

  ### 5. Excellent and reliable tool for road and intersection design

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tejsingh R. | Project Manager and Business Development Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

Vehicle turn movement simulation - I like that we can select the design vehicle and run the animated simulation of the vehicle for the turning radii. Also the fact that the user has the control to either run the simulation along a defined path or do it manually based on the minimum turning radii.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

I do not like that it does not load my microstation tool settings and preferences.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

nothing specific..its a simple and easy to use tool.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a transportation engineer, I am suppose to analyze intersections and turn bays for minimum turning radii and if the design vehicle can complete the turn with those radii. Autoturn does a excellent job in analyzing and designing the turn radii and curb radii.

  ### 6. Useful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2019

  ### 7. Autoturn Vehicle Path Analysis Software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew S. | Civil EIT, Civil Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2018

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

I like that Autoturn is simple in the fact that it comes pre-loaded with many catalogs of vehicles to choose from. It is nice that I don't have to go searching to download and install the vehicle that I want (and if I did want something special, I could use something already in the catalog and just edit the dimensions).`

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

Sometimes the software can be sluggish (although it actually might be my computer and AutoCAD that exaggerate this).

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

I recommend Autoturn, as it is a proven software that has been around for a long time and is widely recognized. They are trying to improve along with the industry by adding 3D elements to their software (although I haven't personally tried that yet).

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Autoturn we are able to analyze if we have adequate radii on curb returns or the edge of pavement that we design for roadways for driveways and median crossovers. It also helps for choosing where to place pavement striping for turning movements through intersections as well as ensuring vehicles will be able to make it safely through a work zone.

  ### 8. AutoTurn Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2017

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

Works well and has continued to improve since inception. Realistic sized vehicles and turning radii. Works well once you have the hang of it.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

Difficult to maneuver at times and manipulate existing autoturn scenarios. No standard american SUV and sedan sized vehicles. For a sedan you must find a size that fits that is typically European or Asian with a strange name.
Difficulty maneuvering larger vehicles (such as WB-55) and manipulating to align with loading per se.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Works as described. A little tricky to get a handle on, but works well once you are familiar with the software and how to get what you want.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Parking layouts and turning radius for vehicles within garages and on site plans. Verify limit of curb is appropriate for vehicle maneuvering.

  ### 9. Making the right curve fit

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2017

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

I takes the guess work out along with all the countless hour calculating the curves for trucks, trailers, aircrafts and large or long equipment of all makes sweep path for maneuvering for safety.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

There are no dislikes, just a few limitations regarding to all makes and models of cars, truck, planes and special equipment. You may have to use a vehicle or equipment close or near equal to the vehicle you intend to use.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Yes, I would recommend this product to anyone doing parking designs, facility designs, that require vehicle maneuvering around fixed equipment or buildings with small or tight areas for safety/health vehicle and cranes equipment to mobilize repairs and/or replacement.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving time is the greatest benefit and a headache or two from running curve calculations.

  ### 10. AutoTurn

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2017

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

Autoturn is an effective tool to determine turning movements and clearances for vehicles.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

Some of the tools are as user friendly as I'd like.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Autoturn simply works and has large vehicle libraries. Also being compatible with both bentley and autodesk products is a very beneficial feature.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In site civil design autoturn is an effective tool to verify vehicle movements. It give you the piece of mind with simple visuals, to verify your design vehicle will not have movement issues onsite.

  ### 11. Intersection and roundabout design - turning templates

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan Y. | In-Roads Practice Lead / Roadway Designer, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2016

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

I like how comprehensive the vehicle catalogue is. I like that I can drive the vehicle freehand or using CAD linework for the pathing. I also like that the software uses different colours to clarify what part of the vehicle is tracking where. This software is essential to intersection design, especially roadways with large commercial vehicles.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

I wish there was more ability to create custom vehicles. If your vehicle is not in the database you have to contact transoft to create it.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Learn to use it, it is very useful.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When dealing with large commercial vehicles such as a WB-36, we can truly determine if the designed geometry will allow the vehicle to turn through the intersection/roundabout. Since the software will show if it is a tire or the edge of the truck tracking over an area, we can decide if the over tracking is acceptable or not.

  ### 12. Handy Program for Road Design

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2016

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

Provides an intuitive way of checking turning radii at various speeds for different design vehicles. Particularly useful when you're working with limited property where you need to keep the design tight.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

The corporate licensing method often is problematic for our company, with people spending hours with IT just trying to get AutoTURN to work. This may be partially an issue with our own network, but AutoTURN is definitely one of the most problematic programs our designers have to deal with as far as licenses. When it does work, I've had issues with it crashing Civil 3D.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I frequently use AutoTURN when developing new site roadways and service roads. It makes it easy to illustrate vehicle paths to clients when they're concerned about traffic movements.

  ### 13. AutoTurn review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2016

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

I like the ability to customize vehicles if you have a specific request from a client. I also like the built in database of all the current aashto vehicles so if you need a standard vehicle you can use it quickly and easily.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

I dislike the function for making your own vehicle that it is hard to change specific properties without completely starting over. I also think the drive function could be improved. I often end up with paths that are not very smooth and could be improved if the drive function worked smoother.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

If you are considering AutoTurn to assist you in designing roadway infrastructure to determine your design vehicle, I would highly recommend autoturn.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AutoTurn has helped us tremendously to show our clients that our design will work with their desired design vehicle. It is a huge help at intersections and roundabouts to give our clients peace of mind that their new infrastructure will not be ruined by trucks jumping over medians or curbs.

  ### 14. Only Software Available to do Turning Movement Analysis

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon L. | Traffic Design Engineer, Government Administration, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

-Software is recognized by all of the DOTs and Localities to do turning movement analysis and loading dock analysis
-Extremely easy to use
-Seamless integration within AutoCAD and Microstation
-Easy to create custom vehicles

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

-There's been virtually no enhancements or improvements to the software in the past 5 years.
-You have to create your vehicle turning path in the correct layer; once the turning path is created, it is not possible to change the layer of the AutoCAD block it creates and then turn that layer off in a viewport. This is extremely frustrating and annoying because you normally have to make sure each vehicle turning path is in a separate layer since you are typically analyzing multiple vehicles or different geometry alternatives.
-In order to get the AASHTO 2011 vehicle libraries, I had to purchase an upgraded version; it would've been nicer to have had just an option to buy that one vehicle library separately for a reduced cost.
-The base version of the software is missing just about every type of construction vehicle in case you wanted to analyze how a loader or haul truck would access an urban construction site.
-They should re-think the way you initially place a vehicle as it takes too many trial and error attempts to get the vehicle placed in just the right spot at the perfect rotation.
-Once you finish creating your turning movement, you can't use the vanilla AutoCAD MOVE command to move the created turning movement block and then come back and adjust the turn as doing so will move it back to the original location it was created in
-For some reason using AutoTURN in a CAD file will always result in the creation of a bunch of unpurgeable layers and blocks in your CAD file permanently even if you delete all of the file's AutoTURN created objects

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

To my knowledge, AutoTURN is the only product available or at least the only product officially recognized by DOTs and localities to do vehicle turning movement analyses.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use AutoTURN to design proposed curb lines, median noses, fire accesses, parking garages, loading docks, puppy track markings, etc.

  ### 15. AutoTURN is a great product for find vehicle turning patterns!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark W. | Enginerring Manager, Civil Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

There are so many good things that I like it's hard to choose

You are able to:
               Create your own vehicle
               Run vehicles in reverse.
               Drive the vehicle.
Create and animation for presentation to a client.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

The product is flexible and easy to use there is really nothing to dislike.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

If you do site design or transportation projects, this is an easy decision. This product improves your design, productivity and also allows you to provide a easy to follow exhibit to show your client.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to solve tight constraints at truck docks and maximize the number of parking spaces in the parking lot adjacent to the dock. We also have solved roundabout issues with custom buses in the transit fleet.

  ### 16. AutoTurn connects designers to the real world

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David J. | Civil Engineer, Civil Engineering, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

As a roadway designer, AutoTURN provides an easy and visual method to track vehicle paths as they maneuver through a user specified path. The preinstalled vehicle library is comprehensive and easy to edit for special circumstances if needed for your project.

AutoTURN software and commands are very smart and intuitive in that a user can effectively use the program quickly if they are already familiar with CAD software. The time spent learning the software is minimal and well worth the effort to confidently and effectively develop horizontal designs of intersections and civil sites.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

Vehicle paths are clearly displayed but additional visualization features would be nice. Users are able to define colors and linestyles of vehicles and vehicle paths, but 3-D renderings would be a nice feature.

I'm not sure if it is my hardware, but the active vehicle simulations can lag behind a little bit causing jumpy graphics.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Dozens of preinstalled libraries are available, but try creating customized and project specific vehicles if they are not available.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This has been especially useful to design the entrance and exit paths of roundabouts as well as designing intersection radii to accommodate the appropriate design vehicle. Vehicle paths are easily placed and displayed in CAD. It is very easy to quickly determine a vehicles path in order to provide sufficient radii without over designing. This provides designers with cost savings in design and clients with cost savings in construction materials.

  ### 17. AutoTURN used to design site plan entrances and subdivision drives

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

I like the ability to enter a custom truck size and truck attribute date to match what is required from city to city. Most of the time this means a fire truck to guarantee our design provides access.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

In previous versions, you had to lead trucks around corners with your computer mouse and to some extent, this did not account for operator error. Newer versions have many more features and have made up for this shortfall.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Continue to add support to Civil3D. Our company has fewer licenses for AutoTurn than Civil3D but it does seem to be used a fair amount of time throughout our design processes.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to make sure that our Civil3D site designs are compliant for the use of fire trucks and emergency vehicles and AutoTurn enables us not only to check these designs but provide a visual for city/client confirmation.

  ### 18. Really Good UItility

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

I like it overall, this is a very useful tool for our Roadway Engineering projects, it is really helpful in Phase 1 designs and equally handy in Phase 2 Maintenance of Traffic Designs. We have been using this software for over ten years and I can't imagine how much work it would be to design the corner radii for intersections.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

The option to create a custom design vehicle is too complicated, sometimes the paths generated by the software are not accurate.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

If you work in Roadway Design this is a must have piece of software, it is equally helpful in Phase 1 and Phase 2 projects.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very useful in Phase 1 IDS projects and designing Phase 2 Maintenance of Traffic projects. It helped us enormously in designing the corner radii for intersections and also turning radii for Maintenance of Traffic design.

  ### 19. pretty good at what it does

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Inchul Y. | Professional Services Business Analyst, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

integration with microstation; there seem to be a lot of features and the ability to create custom vehicles is very helpful

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

sometimes the clicking flow in order to make proper turning paths in CAD were cumbersome. editing turn paths were a bit difficult at times too especially if there are overlapping turn paths

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

i have only used older versions of autoturn so some of the difficulties i've had may have been improved upon. Not sure how much it has progressed in a few years, but i would imagine that it has improved.

also, even when i was a user of autoturn, i'm not sure what alternatives were out there and at what state they are at currently compared to autoturn

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

developing truck turning paths in order to properly design intersections/lanes/ingress and egress access ways

  ### 20. AutoTURN provides an easy to use interface to evaluate vehicle turning movements at intersections

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

The turning movement analysis has allowed us to visualize operations at the intersection in order to set stop bar locations and curb return radii for complex intersections.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

Choosing the correct steering path can mislead users into being too conservative when setting intersection geometrics which can result in additional cost to the project.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

AutoTURN is a useful tool that provides a visual media to communicate with other project constituents and allows engineers to make informed decisions regarding vehicle turning movements.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use AutoTURN to determine the required radii at intersections, which can have significant impact on the project cost for material and installation as well as required purchasing of Right of Way. The program provides us with a visual tool that allows us to easily communicate engineering decisions with clients and the general public.

  ### 21. AutoTurn connects designers to the real world

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

As a roadway designer, AutoTURN provides an easy and visual method to track vehicle paths as they maneuver through a user specified path. The preinstalled vehicle library is comprehensive and easy to edit for special circumstances if needed for your project

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

I'm not sure if it is my hardware, but the active vehicle simulations can lag behind a little bit causing jumpy graphics

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Dozens of preinstalled libraries are available, but try creating customized and project specific vehicles if they are not available

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This has been especially useful to design the entrance and exit paths of roundabouts as well as designing intersection radii to accommodate the appropriate design vehicle. Vehicle paths are easily placed and displayed in CAD. It is very easy to quickly determine a vehicles path in order to provide sufficient radii without over designing

  ### 22. Experienced AutoTURN user for civil design projects

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

I like the ease of use and flexibility to test various types of vehicles. The software is probably the quickest and cheapest way to avoid making a huge mistake down the road.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

The software can be a little over conservative, as in this example. Our AutoTURN analysis found that busses would not be able to run the course. The architect objected and we laid out a course in a parking lot. The busses were able to make all turns fine. That is probably the only issue I dislike. Otherwise the software has been really helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Use the turn automated turn feature instead of the self-driving feature. Self driving might seem faster at first, but will be less accurate because you cannot test the full extent of turning that the other feature allows. Also be sure to input the speed of travel as that affects the turning radius both in the software and in real life. Finally always check that the vehicle dimensions seem correct. Sometimes, with custom vehicles, the wheelbase may be off and affect the driving capabilities.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our firm uses AutoTURN to check that driveways and streets will allow cars, trucks, firetrucks, and garbage trucks to pass unobstructed. The software is an incredibly fast way to check for proper clearances. The software helps us determine if we have to rework our street layouts and provides a quick design check.

  ### 23. Autoturn is a good product for it's application

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric K. | Structural Engineer, Renewables & Environment, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

What I like most about autoturn is that it functions well in it's intended use. I have been able to plan several tight parking areas ensuring that they are accessable to large vehicles. Without Autoturn it would have been much more difficult and timeconsuming to get through this process.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

Autoturn was occasionally unweildy in that the paths I laid out I had to redue a few times to get right. This may have also had to do with my learning curve as I was new to the program.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Give it a try. I am not aware of good alternatives.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was developing designs for loading areas behind dining halls and residence buildiings. It was important that trucks had service access of these facilities.

  ### 24. Very helpful tool for civil engineering design

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Grace C. | Assistant Engineer - Traffic & Transportation, Civil Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

The best things about AutoTURN is that you can drive all kinds of different vehicles and even custom vehicles all over the place in all different kinds of geometries.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

I dislike how the blocks of the trucks are often not to dimension but just images of the vehicles. I often have to explode the block and adjust it to get it to be the dimensions used for running the vehicle in AutoTURN.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

There's not much out there that can do what AutoTURN does except AutoTURN.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AutoTURN is very helpful in analyzing existing and future roadway geometries whether it be a driveway, an intersection, a drive-thru, or a roundabout. It has several different types of trucks and vehicles that can be used to perform analysis.

If a company is looking to switch or upgrade there software, my company and I would highly recommend AutoTURN software as a very suitable upgrade.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The company I work for consults on a lot of IDOT and Tollway Transportation projects and we utilize AutoTURN in our roundabouts, intersections and swept path designs. AutoTURN has increased our skill and ability to confidently analyze and produce roadway designs.

  ### 26. Invaluable for designing intersections

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

AutoTurn is the best tool for check vehicle turning radius and clearances. There are so many methods to check a path. It is invaluable when design intersections. I like that they have added editing tools in later versions such as selecting a patch node and moving it.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

There is not much of anything I dislike about AutoTurn. It would be nice to see the vehicle templates added to in the future.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Go through the training exercises with the program. Very helpful when starting out.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use AutoTurn in transportation design. It is used to check intersection corner radii and stop bar locations. The benefits is a "solid" design for clients and peace of mind that vehicles will perform as such in the field.

  ### 27. AutoTurn a great roadway design tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vamsee T. | Senior Project Engineer, Civil Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

Its ability to simulate the turning vehicles radii with different vehicle types. Helps to design the roadway side streets at restricted conditions. Also enhances safety of the motorists by designing the right turn radii for the vehicles.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

Would like to see more user friendly options in terms manual simulation tools.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping us to design roadway intersections and turn radii for the side streets on Major Highways.

  ### 28. I am very pleased with how this program has continued to improve for use.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael F. | Project Engineer, Civil Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

AutoTURN has continued to improve both it's interface, as well as simplifying the simulation operations. The dynamic nature of the alignments and how they automatically revise the path of vehicle is also a wonderful effect.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

If there was anything that I disliked about the program, it would have to be the limited library in standard specialty vehicles (emergency type). They easily created with the knowledge of some basic dimensions, but the regular availability of these standard vehicle sizes would be very helpful.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Typically, we use the program to model the turning movements of both large commercial vehicles and emergency vehicles for commercial site plan applications. We have found this program quite useful for these purposes.

  ### 29. Great Transportation Modeling Software to Use in Conjunction with AutoCAD

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

It's especially helpful when determining larger commercial trucks and fire trucks that will traverse a site or parking area. I also like the path that is left on the screen so you can show a typical course the vehicle will take and show it safely passing buildings, curbs, and other structures on the development.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

It would be helpful if there were more diverse trucks and cars to use when running the models (all the WB-level commercial trucks, multiple fire trucks, etc...)

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

AutoTURN is an incredible tool to use to accompany civil designers. It allows you to check your site for turning angles, curb radii, location of buildings and bollards, and lane widths to ensure anticipated vehicles that will be travelling in your site will be able to function regularly and safely. It's incredibly helpful to use when modeling for larger WB-rated commercial trucks and fire trucks to anticipate safe delivery of goods and emergency services to the development. I would highly recommend this product to any civil designer who utilitizes CAD software and wants to have peace of mind when defending the vehicles that will need to enter/exit the development will minimal to no traffic conflicts.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If certain delivery trucks can enter the parking area, make deliveries, and exit the site safely. If trucks can make it along certain access roads. Placement of radius returns for curbs and location of curb ramps can be adjusted to accommodate larger turning radii of anticipated vehicles entering/leaving the site with the help of the modeling generated by AutoTurn.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

The turning movement analysis has allowed us to visualize operations at the intersection in order to set stop bar locations and curb return radii for complex intersections

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

It models the path of the turning very well for the entire length of the turn which is useful to see what it may and may not hit.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

I dislike the objects left behind when you make a turn. Often I would run Autoturn several times in the same drawing and the small objects left behind in the drawing can get annoying to remove.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Use several models to display Autoturn results. Do not try to use all results on the same model.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm solving whether or not trucks and general vehicles can make turns in order to see if certain routes/paths are possible.

  ### 32. Auto turn review

The simplistic layout of all the tools. It's easy to navigate the various menus.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

This may just be with the version we have, but it's not compatible with Microstation V8i. And as far as I know there is no patch available for it to be so we have to run the program in V8 which is annoying.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Take a few minutes to research all the tools because they can be very helpful when you have a full understanding of them.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to take on larger projects as we know have the software to do more complex design.

  ### 35. Don't use this as much as other products but a very useful tool

**Reviewed by:** Heather W. | Structural Engineer, Architecture & Planning, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

The library of different vehicle types makes selecting the most sensible vehicle that will be accessing the finished site very useful.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

I dislike that when driving a vehicle through the site you are not able to stop and go back a step if you have gone in the wrong direction or something changes. The whole path needs to be redrawn and then the vehicle ran through again.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Great product to be used alongside Microstation or Power Inroads

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 37. Project Designer

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2015

**What do you like best about AutoTURN?**

As a designer I really only use Autoturn for the bottom line issues i.e. what radius does my roadway/intersection need to have. I would say that I like how you can set the autoturn to be drawn exactly how you want, linetype, color, thickness, etc. So when plotted it looks how you want.

**What do you dislike about AutoTURN?**

I do not like that when a route has been drawn in say with a WB-40 truck, you cannot manipulate that route at all. If you have a somewhat large path of travel, you need to redraw the entire thing, even if just one turn needs manipulation.

**Recommendations to others considering AutoTURN:**

Overall it gets the job done.

**What problems is AutoTURN solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am designing roadway layouts for private companies and municipalities. I use Autoturn to determine curve and intersection radii needed for certain vehicles.
