What do you like best about Autodesk Green Building Studio?

The fact that the service is cloud-based is a great feature that allows our teams to be able to access their projects from anywhere and anytime. This has been especially critical during the pandemic.

System integration with our Revit model's databases allows for quicker processing of gbXML exports with vital data being directly imported into the performance models.

The service's interface is easy to understand and allows for relatively quick learning curves for novice users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Autodesk Green Building Studio?

Because the data used for performance modeling is highly reliant on the quality of architectural Revit models, if there are any issues with the Revit model, they will often impact outcomes in the simulations. As such, we often have to recreate components and models in the service directly. This does not mean there is a loss of all data imported from Revit, but users need to understand the imported data sets and be able to identify any issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Autodesk Green Building Studio:

Highly recommend the service. Users do need to understand how to correctly model in Revit to ensure proper modeling techniques are used, and the exported data is fully viable in Green Building Studio. We have seen users abandon the service because they did not understand why they were obtaining wrong results or the exported Revit data was not being processed by the cloud service. There may be issues that can easily be corrected in Revit prior to exports that will greatly improve outcomes and user satisfaction. Don't give up too soon. Nothing is perfect the first time around, but extra efforts are worth it in the long run. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Autodesk Green Building Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?

On most projects we collaborate with architects in developing building energy modeling and performance analysis. Green Building Studio has assisted us in being able to generate quick reports that drive decisions that improve client outcomes. Autodesk Green Building Studio is becoming an essentioal tool for architects, it provides the ability to gain insight to the building energy performance, even in the early deign stages, and thus improving the design decisions toward more sustainable buildings. I am an architecture and Revit instructor, and I use Autodesk Green Building Studio to run energy, water and carbon simulation which will provide potential energy saving decisions that can be implemented to the design.

I teach my students to use Green Building Studio in their design studios to insure a more scientific and data driven design decisions rather than just intuitions, and I have realized that students who often use this Green Building Studio, tend to have more sustainable and energy efficient architecture. The Autodesk green building studio is one of the most obliging tools for analysing whole building energy, Carbon, and water. It's a user-friendly tool to prove the quality of the designs we build. Also, it's explicitly rapid because of the cloud-based processing system, which reduces the design workload. Guys, if you plan your green building goals at concept stage and those goals are lost when you reach construction phase.
