Being able to see the necessary information about a user, their sign-up and log-in activities, data providers, password management, and such. Delegated admin dashboard customization allows for multiple complex use cases. **What do you dislike about Auth0?** Inflexibility in the configuration of Apple mobile metadata. Inability to specify a login session should use HTTP session cookies (instead of long lived cookies) which is a security hole when providing authentication for applications that may be used on public terminals. So I think it is not a problem if you can use Auth0 to solve your problem. I have used Auth0 for at least 4 years now, I can always find a solution to solve business requirements. But what is important is to understand the pricing and the future cost upfront. Auth0 can get expensive on your bill if you don't consider the use case properly upfront. **What problems is Auth0 solving and how is that benefiting you?** Nowadays, business moves faster, and software development teams need to move even faster, so implement our own Identify management is not impossible, but just time consuming and the future maintenance is also a considerable effort. We did shop around and it looked like Auth0 was a good choice for us to grow into. It did for the most part deliver on our needs for a couple of years. **What do you dislike about Auth0?** Their tiering for pricing is very much not aligned with a small-medium sized growing company. No options for bolt ons of needed functionality but without the need for volumes that their enterprise tier is priced for. In particular, all we wanted was to give our users another option for multifactor authentication (i.e. SMS or email). The software let us do that, but there was a cryptic message that upon reading closer does say you're not supposed to turn that on unless you're enterprise. What is this? some kind of honey trap? I understand free trials, bolt ons, etc. But particularly for a feature that could have security implications, should you really let your customers wander into using something that you will yank from them? Trying to work with them to turn this off with as little disruption to our customers as possible has also been full of surprising frustration. The data is in their database about which of our customers use the functionality we want to turn off. However, apparently there's no way they can help us to access that. It's not data that is exposed in the user export, rather only in the user interface that we're expected to write our own script to 'scrape' user by user. That's just the technical side of frustration. The communications from business development managers and account managers has been rude and unhelpful. I get the 'you get what you pay for argument', maybe our contract isn't that valuable to them, but there's no way I'd recommend paying the enterprise value if this is the type of organization we would be working with. **Recommendations to others considering Auth0:** Identity providers aren't the type of software you want to be switching very often. I would strongly advise those thinking about using Auth0 to understand that they have a good product for the entry level low price point. However, as your company grows and you want to scale the functionality you use, this is probably going to cause you headaches with Auth0's price tiering. There are many other providers that are much clearer with their tiering and offer similar if not superior functionality. **What problems is Auth0 solving and how is that benefiting you?** We've used Auth0 as an identity provider for our B2B application. We've realized the typical benefits you'd expect from an identity provider in authentication flows for users as well as machine to machine. ### 23. The library's API was straightforward and to-the-point; it was super easy to get up and running on an existing server. (Also, it's very testable!) **What do you dislike about Auth0?** The documentation is expansive but unfocused. There were a lot of long-form articles, but it was hard to determine which were applicable to my use case. I would have benefited from a definitive description of the API, but it was tricky to find any documents like that. I'd appreciate if you could make the documentation easier to navigate—a table of contents would do wonders! Also, I was a little sad that a GUI was the only way to control Auth0's settings—it would be nice if there were some form of plaintext config file we could use. That way, we could manage our Auth0 setup with version control, and put any changes through code review. :-) **Recommendations to others considering Auth0:** Auth0 provides some example code for how to use their libraries with RxJS; we found these examples to be very buggy. If you're going to use Auth0 with RxJS, I'd recommend writing your own bindings. **What problems is Auth0 solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were a group of undergraduate students working on a class project. This was the first time any of us had dealt with authentication; Auth0 made dealing with identity, if not painless, then at least manageable for a group of first-timers who were out of our depth. Because what people told me they are doing in order to avoid the much higher "per user cost" of the "developer pro" plan is to use "users", assigned "permissions" and the "password grant" instead of "m2m apps" and the "client_credentials grant". I dislike this happening very much. - Auth0 Management Portal's ... - usability on mobile devices. It's not really adapting to smaller screen sizes. - application and API search functionality is basically not usable. I'd wish that either the "user and application" seach would work (having a lot of users and apps) and be extended also for APIs or (better) have dedicated search for apps and APIs in the respective overviews .. that would work as well and as fast as the API search that one only gets to use when authorizing a non-interactive app for an API (where you have the search field for the API). - The user enumeration attack vulnerability when having a database connection's signup functionality enabled (also see support ticket: https://support.auth0.com/tickets/00440353)
 - The missing functionality in the Management API regarding Auth0 tenants, e.g. to create, delete etc.
 - The missing (tenant-agnostic) logs for operations/events regarding Auth0 tenants, e.g. logs for events like "TenantWasCreated" etc.
 - The fact that you can authorize dashboard admins only for either individual apps or EVERYTHING (including the creation of new Auth0 tenants 😳). I'm missing at least some kind of privileges for a group of apps and APIs. **Recommendations to others considering Auth0:** If you're using machine-to-machine communication, ensure to cache your tokens. **What problems is Auth0 solving and how is that benefiting you?** see also: "What do you like best?", but especially the flexibility one has using rules. The platform also allows you to create as many tenants as you have environments in your application landscape. Through use of these tenants we could integrate the platform easily into our ALM. **What do you dislike about Auth0?** There is no easy way its own administration portal to see all of the existing tenants and which tenants you don't have access to. When you don't have access to one of the tenants you also can't see who to contact. **What problems is Auth0 solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a SaaS solution for B2C authentication which has great mobile SDKs. As Auth0 keeps these SDKs up to date and provides good documentation we can configure the authentication and move on to our applications themselves. The costs for business customers are a bit high. For large organizations like ours it is necessary that you provide Long Term Support (LTS) because it is very difficult for us to follow the dynamics that you have for changes and deprecations of features or libraries. **Recommendations to others considering Auth0:** Auth0 is the best option! **What problems is Auth0 solving and how is that benefiting you?** A recurring problem before using Auth0 was to enable a new user repository to an application, this task took us weeks of work. We can now solve directly on the console with a few clicks and without the need to involve the development sector responsible for that application. Reducing vulnerabilities in the login flow was something we never thought we would solve, now Auth0 allows us not to worry about these issues. The adoption of the platform reduced from one month to one week (or even days) the time that we used for authentication and authorization in each project.
