**What do you like best about assetSERV?**

assetServ has several key features we needed to have, including sharing with people who don't have logins, quality faceted search, workflow, convert on download, and flexible format support.

Te people we have worked with from Cognizant have been very responsive and helpful.  They worked closely with us not only on post-implementation issues, but also on conversion of our images and addition of some small enhancements. 

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

While Cognizant is flexible with their security model, it's not naturally very flexible when it comes to role-based access.  We had hoped to be able to define our own groups and assign access to those groups.  Instead all of that has to be built into the platform by Cognizant.  

Also, because so much of the solution is actually custom, we had quite a few bugs when we went live.

No thumbnails for PSD files over 60MB.

**Recommendations to others considering assetSERV:**

Make sure you're very clear on your security model with your various business user groups. Also, make sure your business representatives go through a demo of the product so that they fully understand the implications of their requirement/design decisions.  Be aware that integration with Adobe's Creative Cloud is a separate charge.  

**What problems is assetSERV solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem we were trying to solve, and the main benefit we wanted to achieve, was having a centralized, searchable repository in which various business users could store their assets and collaborate on them.

**What do you like best about assetSERV?**

I think it can do a lot you just have to know what you what to get out of it. also as a stand alone software its really slick.

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

everything cost money and if you have a complex metadata and a complex landscape it can be very challenging. when we first started the project no one mentioned about the inherent key of asset id that the software has. we created our own key and reconciling between various systems have been a real challenge. 

**What problems is assetSERV solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it has been amazing to get all our assets in one place that's for sure. we can send them out easily and do all sorts of functionality.

**What do you like best about assetSERV?**

Easy of finding current and future vehicles.  The facets provide a way to skinny down your search criteria.  The ability to download selected images quickly is a major plus for our customers.

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

GM model metadata is a mess but data was never cleaned up and refined.  Should have been broken into multiple new entities like model, body style and series.

**Recommendations to others considering assetSERV:**

Definitely would recommend this DAM tool

**What problems is assetSERV solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Storing all current and future GM vehicle images and brochures along with TV commercials and radio ads.

I like that we have our own library for Center of Learning training assets

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

Using the multiple filters can be a tad tedious.   I usually go right to the product/brand

**What problems is assetSERV solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using AC to make finding / sharing assets easier than our previous repository.    We have noticed that it is easier to find assets and share them quickly with "Quick Share".  Also, much higher resolution with AC and larger storage capacity.

**What do you like best about assetSERV?**

I like the easy to use User Interface.  The tool is helpful to provide multiple views to customize requirements by Brands.  The UI display has an easy flow and graphic interface for business folks that are not technical.

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

I would like to see additional feature for customization of the UI screen.  Perhaps user defined filters, a way to organize assets.

Easy to use tool and looks like it is simple to configure.

Needed a DAM solution to manage our digital assets.

**What do you like best about assetSERV?**

I loved that all of the files are accessible in all formats with the addition of the video preview and ai preview. This saves us the time of downloading first in order to check. 

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

I would work on improving the search functionality more, offering endless scrolls option. Also include a progress bar when uploading assets in general so we know when the upload is almost done and not think that it has a bug. Also support for mobile and other browsers.

No problems

I like the capabilities that allow assets to be downloaded safely and securely across the global.  It help us eliminate recreating assets locally.  By sharing assets globally it allows us to save marketing spend.

unfortunately we have not been able to get all of our brands onboard due to licensing cost

easy to search and download assets; liked that there was central admin control by the global team;

PepsiCo had a confusing process for gaining access to the portal, particularly for external partners; site is not designed for shorter-term assets, which would be a useful feature

provide central database for all evergreen brand assets and help streamline design and scale brand assets

**What do you like best about assetSERV?**

Support is above and beyond. They are a true partner in DAM implementation. Their architects and support staff are knowledgable and able to solve issues quick and offer strategic recommendations. The flexibility of the product is critical to our business. From storage to on-demand instances, we rely on assetSERV for our implementation to deliver what our users require.

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

They need to work more strategically to become as flexible as AWS will allow them. There are certain aspects of AWS - Glacier storage, on-demand instances - that we are working with them to get into their business model.

**Recommendations to others considering assetSERV:**

Make sure you know your requirements first. The platform is VERY flexible with all the benefits and challenges therein. The system allows you to constantly improve - make time to ensure that the platform is serving your users as expected. Look at opportunities to improve usability. Make sure that you have technical resources available on your team. assetSERV team is a great partner, but you should have some knowledge of the underlying systems to make sure you get the full value of the platform.

**What problems is assetSERV solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Digital Asset Management and all the business problems therein. We consolidated 3 archive systems into the assetSERV platform and implemented a rights model, including approval processing. The storage and server flexibility allowed us to avoid a large CAPEX investment - we only pay for what we use. Support and upgrades are handled seamlessly.

**What do you like best about assetSERV?**

The speed at which the site downloads and uploads high resolution files. I also find the file conversion feature useful to users that may not have the software to convert files on their system. The PDF contact sheet feature has also been extremely helpful in sharing images and collections with users. 

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

I receive calls and emails from users who struggle with using the site - especially with such functions as opening collection folders and using the keyword search feature. It should be more intuitive. The site should also allow us to share URL's of search results or various areas of the site. 


**What problems is assetSERV solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an asset management site, it helps distribute our assets to a wide audiences of GM-affiliated users. Otherwise, someone in my position would spend our days sending high-res art to users in need of advertising/marketing images.

**What do you like best about assetSERV?**

Support dynamic content loading thus removing the need to manage static content.

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

Interface, structure, & responsiveness. Overall, the application was probably not the best solution for the business need. Users were required to adopt cumbersome workflow processes that did not make sense for the small team and created additional overhead.

**Recommendations to others considering assetSERV:**

My recommendation is to carefully review the business need before implementing. There are also some minor irritations that should not exist - such as non-functioning sort buttons on date and text columns that required specific attention. These types of bugs should not exist in a professional software of this caliber.

**What problems is assetSERV solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a CMS to support content loading. AssetSERV was intended to be a digital asset management tool but was force fit to solve the need.

**What do you like best about assetSERV?**

assetSERV is built on a number of components, the core of which is a solution from Media Beacon. Out of the box, Media Beacon was not able to meet our needs. Fortunately, Cognizant's implementation of Media Beacon, which also is comprised of several other software components that make up the overall assetSERV SaaS offering, is customizable. Cognizant was willing to customize assetSERV out of the box in order to meet our needs, and the end result was good. The user interface has been completely redesigned for our specific purposes.

assetSERV is flexible and allows for integration with single sign-on (using SAML) and also allows for integration with other systems.

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

Customization is needed in many instances in order to provide the look/feel and functionality needed for our users. This customization and support is very expensive.

There are a lot of little things that need work within assetSERV. The upload and approval process is confusing, and quite often users experience an issue where the asset tile view does refresh immediately when an asset is added or removed. We're working with the vendor on this, but there is no fix in sight for this after over a year of reporting the issue.

There are much less expensive solutions with more functionality out of the box, but Cognizant's ability to custom tailor the implementation to very specific business requirements makes this solution viable. If only this customization weren't so expensive, assetSERV would be more competitive with other similar solutions.

The main disadvantage to having a highly customized version of assetSERV is that when the core technology vendors (e.g., Media Beacon) release new versions of their software, we face challenges and delays implementing the updated versions of the software.

**Recommendations to others considering assetSERV:**

Make sure you test out this software extensively before deciding to implement it. Fully understand the cost implications (both setup cost and ongoing support costs), particularly if you have any customizations to the out-of-the-box configuration.

**What problems is assetSERV solving and how is that benefiting you?**

assetSERV has enabled our business partners to securely share, store and manage digital assets within a global ecosystem of users. This helps keep all marketing assets in a central location, instead of having them spread out across a handful of potentially insecure or unapproved solutions, and helps whenever there is turnover on a marketing team.

The flexibility and responsiveness of the Team in creating and enhancing our website for digital assets.  They take our list of requirements and develop ways to meet our needs while also asking thought provoking questions, checking for understanding, and pointing out opportunities to keep us out of the ditch.

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

There isn't anything I dislike.  I am appreciating how hard it is to build such a personalized platform when the data coming is too difficult to standardized.

We are creating a repository to hold all of our product images that come in from various suppliers.  These images then need to feed to various systems.
The benefits are all of our product images are standardized with the various views and naming conventions.  They are stored in a central repository that allows user access while also feeding to our internal systems.

The team is extremely knowledgeable.  All problems are addressed in a professional manner and issues are resolved in a fairly timely fashion.  The management team is also involved and very helpful in managing any issues we have and helping to ensure we are receiving proper service.

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

Sometimes communication could be better.  When an issue has been submitted it is sometimes resolved quickly but we have to followup to determine how the issue was resolved.  We also sometimes have to escalate an issue before it receives attention when we have a high priority but not outage situation.

Do your homework and understand the relationship between assetSERV and the product or products they are supporting.

We are providing digital asset management to our users.  We have realized cost savings and efficiency gains

I think the expertise and support from the vendor is best-in-class, and have found them to go beyond just being available to showing true commitment to delvering solutions.

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

I think the UI looks a little bit dated, and the overall user experience could be be improved a bit, especially around ease-of-use.  It feels a bit 'friction'ed'.

**Recommendations to others considering assetSERV:**

Take the time to clearly map out all integrations with Legacy systems that are needed and lean heavily on the deep subject matter expertise and solutioning abilities of the Cognizant support community.

We are have established our first, enterprise-level, digital asset management repository with ability for assets to be shared and distributed across multiple, extremely large, business units.  assetSERV is providing for collaboration and efficiency realizations that flow to the bottom line.

**What do you like best about assetSERV?**

assetSERV, once you learn it and figure out the nuances, is fairly easy to work through, it is a time intensive process.  We also like that it restricts access to the mobile app uses, and just open to the key users who add, remove, edit, etc. content.  The program makes step by step sense for fairly easy to train a user on.

**What do you dislike about assetSERV?**

assetSERV is very slow when performing individual process - uploading, downloading, editing, etc.  You upload one file, walk away for a bit then come back, still uploading.  When finally done, move to the next process, and it also takes some time.  Not a fast process to get new content uploaded regardless of file size(s).

Updates made to values in integrated systems must also be made in Assetserv's value dictionaries rather than being dynamically updated.

We are using the system for storage of assets created by our marketing department. Benefits include ensuring all of the material we use is finalized, approved, and compliant. We also save money on storage by having a central repository for assets.

If I had to pick one thing that the company can improve upon, it would be that billing should be consistently sent on time and correct.
