# Which freelance platforms work best for a project manager who needs to hire and manage multiple contractors across different skill sets without using a separate tool for each?

Hi G2! The one-tool constraint is the real filter on this one: which freelance platforms work best for a project manager who needs to hire and manage multiple contractors across different skill sets without using a separate tool for each? Plenty of platforms can source a designer or a developer, and far fewer let you run both engagements side by side without spreadsheet glue. Reading freelance platforms buyer reviews with that constraint in mind, three setups held up:

Upwork: The widest skill coverage under one roof, spanning development, design, finance, marketing, writing, and support, with buyers describing contracts, milestones, timesheets, messages, and payments managed from a single dashboard across multiple hires. Saved searches per skill set keep sourcing repeatable. The friction its reviewers name: some views feel disconnected when you juggle many active contracts.

Fiverr: Works as the lightweight version of the same idea. Buyers describe running several defined gigs in parallel across creative skill sets with direct communication per seller, no setup, and delivery deadlines doing the project management for you. It stays comfortable while tasks stay bounded.

Revelo: The delegation option when the skill sets are all technical. Buyers describe defining roles and letting the platform run screening, contracts, payroll, and even hardware shipping, with one account contact instead of one tool per contractor. It narrows to engineering, so it solves the multi-contractor problem inside one discipline rather than across many.

A candid scope note: past a certain contractor headcount, reviewers and G2's own category structure both point toward dedicated freelancer management systems, so the one-tool dream has a ceiling regardless of platform.

For the PMs juggling four or more contractors right now, what finally broke, the sourcing, the payments, or the status tracking? And what did you bolt on when it did?

What finally broke for us when evaluating this for a piece was status tracking across parallel contracts. The payments and sourcing were fine but knowing where everything was across four simultaneous engagements got messy fast.
