## Arcserve Reviews
  ### 1. Arcserve: Reliable, Easy-to-Set Up Backups with Secure Tape Retention

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Arcserve?**

Arcserve is as reliable a backup software as you can get. All features and options are easy to setup and once you setup your backup jobs you can forget about them. We really excited about being able to backup to tapes as well, as this really enables us to expand our retention. Also since tapes are not online this gives as the extra security of our tape backups being safe in case of a malware attack.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve?**

Well the only thing that we would like to be better and that's the price... Well, one can always wish for better prices, but in the end you usually get what you pay for...

**What problems is Arcserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Arcserve is in the backup market for a very long time. So they have a long history of supporting backups on tape. Most newer backup companies skip the support of backups to tape, probably because of the challenge it poses to implement this a a feature. We are very happy to be able to backup to tapes as well, along with our online backups that have their own advantages (an disadvantages). So we get to have the advantages of both!

  ### 2. Arcserve Delivers Reliable, Secure Backup and Disaster Recovery

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Blessing M. | IT Technician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Arcserve?**

Arcserve is a very reliable product for backup and disaster recovery for both host virtual machines and host machines, providing secure and adaptive technology.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve?**

Virtual machine recovery after disaster can take a while to get you back up and running especially if the internet is not very fast .

**What problems is Arcserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Protects agains ransomware and virtual machines unexpected failures the backups are very reliable and the system is not too complex to setup

  ### 3. 1st-in-Class-Support-Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Omar A. | Senior Datacenter Consultant - Data Protection, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Arcserve?**

Intuitive and comprehensive software, which is complemented by very good support.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve?**

The product is good but the marketing leaves much to be desired.

**What problems is Arcserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The added value of arcserve lies in:
1- Strength in the simplified use of the product.
2- Plug-n-Play.
3- Strength in the area of tape management.
4- Price-performance ratio is very good.

  ### 4. Backup for OES/Novell

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bartt N. | IT Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Arcserve?**

Supports OES/Novell file and folder level backup and restore.
Good dedupe and compression to minimize storage footprint.
For UDP we use recovery-point synthetic backups, for OES we use dedupe.
Both apps utilize a NAS for DR.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve?**

More complicated GUI and more difficult end-user experience than the prior product, Unitrends, which stopped supporting OES/Novell without acknowledging an existing user base reliant on the functionality.

**What problems is Arcserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup and Disaster Recovery systems that are fast and reliable. They also allowed us a 30/60 day trial period to prove the OES backups and recovery were exactly what we needed.

  ### 5. Arcserve is very good

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Arcserve?**

Ease of use, a lot of functionality, very customizable & good pricing structure

**What do you dislike about Arcserve?**

Nothing really, everything seems to check all the boxes of what we were looking for

**What problems is Arcserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

data backup for multiple SAN & NAS systems at different locations throughout the organization

  ### 6. Great backup for servers

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric S. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Arcserve?**

file level granularity when performing restorations from tape or disk back to original location. This is sometimes important when working in a windows environment with AD profiles

**What do you dislike about Arcserve?**

I would prefer that the logs had more detail in them and is easier to look at. I want to know where exactly something has failed and why especially if its errors related to tapes or drive

**Recommendations to others considering Arcserve:**

Make sure you have your pricing correct when comparing to other software

**What problems is Arcserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All my servers are backed up, so I know disaster recovery will not be an issue and I can sleep at night knowing that my scheduling is working when it notifies me when the job is completed. The big benefit is off-site storage backups so I know my data is safe in case something were to happen in my environment.

  ### 7. Critical component for our organization's DR plan

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike B. | D, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Arcserve?**

ARCserve's ability to provide bare-metal recovery services is key to our disaster recovery policy. With physical medium and cloud-based backup and restore capabilities, we are confident of limited downtime along with access to the most recent data.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve?**

Although the cloud-to-cloud service is fast the internal server to cloud-based services could be somewhat faster, it seems. Our Internet connection is quite fast, yet the archival process doesn't appear to utilize the bandwidth very efficiently.

**What problems is Arcserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We feel that ARCserve's rock-solid archival, along with their revision history, will be key in recovering from a ransomware attack or natural disaster. With the tornadoes that ravaged our state recently, we were fortunate enough to avoid being hit by any but remain confident that if we were, our data would have remained safe.

  ### 8. Good Product

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Arcserve?**

This program works well. It keeps up with all the backups using deduplication and provides a fast way to recover files. This product also works well with tapes and backing up directly to SAN and Network storage media.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve?**

There is a little bit of a learning curve to figuring out the UI, but it just takes some reading, and you will have it down in no time. The support is ok; I had a little trouble a couple of times I contacted them. The licensing scheme can also get very pricey since you have to get individual licenses for all attached devices/servers

**What problems is Arcserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Good reliable backup solution. It works well and gets the job done once all the licenses are purchased. I wanted something that I could set up, and it would just work.

  ### 9. Good Backup Solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven W. | Desktop Support Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Arcserve?**

It was very useful with all of the automation settings. Always hated going to every server to check backups but with this software you can check it from one server.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve?**

How hard it was to perform updates on the software. Also, the support for the program used to be horrible with wait times, sometimes taking over a day for assistance.

**What problems is Arcserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It used to take an hour or two to check backups but after using this software it took no more than 30 minutes.

  ### 10. Arcserve is perfect application for Data Protection and recovery

RHA and Unified dataProtection are the best tools for realtime data replication and recovery. RHA can even replicate the complete image of any pgysical to virtual or physical to physical machine over a minimum bandwidh networks.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve?**

It is completely superb and I am using it for 6 yrs. Support team is very much co-operative and technical

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Arcserve?**

Arcserve is a great solution that ties in well with other solutions like Nutanix and Sophos to create a system that protects and recovers your organization's data and infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about Arcserve?**

It can take a little while to digest everything that is going on and understand all the good pieces that make it work so well. Take some time to read the documention.

**Recommendations to others considering Arcserve:**

It is not the cheapest solution, but then again we didn't want a cheap solution. This software is a high end solution for complex recovery needs

**What problems is Arcserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The most important thing we needed was a reliable way to protect our backed up data from ransomware attacks. Now we have a dynamic solution that protects our data both on premise and in the cloud.
