The reliance on using lag interfaces for mitigation ports was problematic. We had to separate the interfaces into p2p because we faced issues with this implementation. The TAC has unreasonably long authentication process for when a customer calls in with an active & impacting event with the platform (not an attack). It is not Arbor's responsibility to verify someone is an active employee of the customer, it is the customer's responsibility to cut access when they terminate an employee. The delays caused by these authentication delays are measurable by increased loss of service and impact to the customers business. The Arbor Threat Mitigation System allows us to defend not only our internal systems, but our customers. The TMS is easy to use during a mitigation, with a high number of countermeasures that can be turned on or off based on attack signatures, not only manually, but individually as well. Multiple mitigations can run using different countermeasures, which allows us to better protect multiple hosts using the same deployment. The TMS uses standard networking protocols, making it easy to deploy into our network. This allows us to mitigate attacks daily using auto-mitigation, with little or no input from an operator.
