Bad quality/performance and Useless support **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2023 **What do you like best about Apilayer?** ease of implementation. the implement is very easy **What do you dislike about Apilayer?** We used the fixer API (currency conversion API) from api layer and good bad performance/stability (6% of HTTP 5XX errors) and latencies that exceed 110s sometimes for one currency for one day... We contacted the support for this issue. After one month they told us that they are continuing working on it but they made improvements (after verification, there were no evolution in our data). After some times they told us to stop using apiLayer but use fixer directly (it's their API). We understand that the API will not work and we must take another subscription to fixer. We took the same subscription but to the fixer API directly. After the first tests with the exactly same usage we got errors "Access Restricted - Your current Subscription Plan does not support this API Function." After investigation the route that we used was available in the subscription at 14$ for ApiLayer but you need the 44$ subscription for the same feature to do it with Fixer API. So I contacted the support to tell them that they told me to switch API and i just want the same feature that previously and they just answered "you need to upgrade your plan"... We don't want to pay 3 times more without any guarantee of the quality of the service. The best part of APIlayer is that they developed it so that we can get the most relevant APIs on a given topic. Users can also publish their APIs in the marketplace of Apilayer. It is secure to use. Using APIs, we can also detect Nudity and Violence in Images. **What do you dislike about Apilayer?** There are minor things, like sometimes it takes some time to integrate with the tools or applications. Also, while using currency convertors or locating IP addresses, fetching is delayed. **What problems is Apilayer solving and how is that benefiting you?** APILayer provides me with the most secure APIs. I regularly use web APIs from APILayer to integrate with my tool for converting data, such as currency converters and locating IP addresses. I also use Apilayer to get mock-up APIs. ### 3. Pricing is a consideration they do provide subscriptions. **What do you dislike about Apilayer?** It is a bit difficult to fully grasp and make use of their APIs. The pricing structure for paid solutions was a tad high. **What problems is Apilayer solving and how is that benefiting you?** Apilayer solves the problem of API integration for currency conversion. This saves us time and effort in implementing currency conversion functionality into our app. ### 4. No simple way to cancel, compared to alternatives. Extortion artists, in my opinion. Stay away. **What problems is Apilayer solving and how is that benefiting you?** GeoIP lookup database required by some third party marketing automation apps. ### 5. Best API Provider **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2023 **What do you like best about Apilayer?** I used Apilayer for so many API connectivities and it is pretty easy marketplace to buy APIs and there are a wide range of APIs available and even configuring the APIs is lot easier as they provide API key and documentation straight forward. **What do you dislike about Apilayer?** Support could have been better even if we have purchased some APIs through their subscription plan, I thought there should be a dedicated support where issues of the subscriber must be resolved on a priority. **What problems is Apilayer solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is solving most of the problem which we require in our use cases by providing them in the form of APIs and I recommend to use APIlayer because it's ease of use and proper documentation. ### 6. I don't know what that depends on, whether it's my problem or your server's. **What problems is Apilayer solving and how is that benefiting you?** As I said earlier, it is very important for us, who export to the world, to have the different exchange rates of the main market currencies online. ### 7. Excellent User experience and proper documentation for every API was provided. **What do you dislike about Apilayer?** Pricing can be a factor here, but as there are some very premium APIs like spotify, sports stats etc., That was the thing they didn't offer any discounts, but they are providing some customizable subscriptions, which should be considered. **What problems is Apilayer solving and how is that benefiting you?** Excellent API Marketplace to use available APIs. Another coolest thing is that if you are a developer, you can list your own API in this platform and get paid from subscriptions. For now, I am just a user of available APIs. Maybe in future, I may list an API in this platform. ### 8. It even offers a limited number of free trials for users. For example, text data scraping, Calendar API and Geo API, etc... **What do you dislike about Apilayer?** From my point of view, I don't have any disliking points about Apilayer. They provide an excellent service for complicated problems that helps the user to save time on their development. **What problems is Apilayer solving and how is that benefiting you?** Apilayer provides me with many solutions for more complex problems, is easy to use, and saves us time. We can easily browse through the list of available APIs and their features. The APIs are well categorized. API developers can market their APIs here. **What do you dislike about Apilayer?** Customer service is not that great. They can increase the response time. But I think it has the potential to provide quality service, and i am looking forward to it. **What problems is Apilayer solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have discovered many awesome free and paid solutions in the Machine learning and NLP category. We have integrated our apps with those APIs for Sentiment analysis and Keyword extraction. ### 10.
