"Fast, Capable Apache Doris for Analytical Workloads"
What do you like best about Apache Doris?

Apache Doris gets the basics right, but it’s not without trade-offs. The UI/UX feels functional at best—everything you need is there, but it’s pretty barebones and not especially intuitive for new users. You’ll likely rely on documentation or prior experience to get comfortable.

Integrations are decent but not exceptional. It works with common tools and pipelines, though some connectors feel less mature than what you’d find in more established platforms. Expect a bit of manual setup depending on your stack.

Performance is one of its stronger points. Query speeds are generally fast, especially for analytical workloads, but it’s not immune to slowdowns under heavier or more complex use cases. It’s good, just not “set it and forget it” good.

On pricing and ROI, the open-source aspect is appealing, but the real cost shows up in engineering time. Setup, tuning, and maintenance can take effort, so the savings aren’t always as straightforward as they seem.

Support and onboarding are probably where it struggles most. Documentation exists, but it can be uneven and sometimes assumes a higher level of expertise. If you run into issues, you may find yourself digging through forums rather than getting clear answers quickly.

For AI and intelligence, there’s not much built in. It’s more of a data engine than anything “smart,” so you’ll need external tools if you’re looking for advanced analytics or ML capabilities.

Overall, Apache Doris is a capable system, but it feels more like a tool for teams willing to invest time and expertise rather than something that’s immediately polished or beginner-friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Apache Doris?

What I dislike most about Apache Doris is how much effort it can take to get comfortable with it. The UI feels pretty minimal and not very intuitive, so simple tasks sometimes require digging through docs or trial and error.

The documentation itself can be inconsistent—some parts are clear, others feel incomplete or assume you already know the system well. That makes onboarding slower than it should be, especially for newer teams.

Integrations are another weak spot. While it connects to common tools, the experience isn’t always smooth, and you may need to do extra configuration or workarounds compared to more polished platforms.

Operationally, it’s not completely hands-off. Tuning performance, managing clusters, and troubleshooting issues can require real expertise. It’s not the kind of system you just deploy and forget about.

Finally, the lack of built-in AI or advanced analytics features makes it feel a bit behind the curve if you’re looking for more intelligent insights out of the box—you’re expected to bring your own tooling for that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
