What do you like best about Amplitude Session Replay?
Integration among analytics. Session Replay, Heatmaps and Analytics can become extremely powerful when connected. Because once we identify a pattern in SR or HM, in order to prioritize an improvement in that area it is necessary for product to be able to quantify the Impact (i.e. how pronounce is the issue, i.e. how many users out of total active experience the issue / use the feature)
I think it's a great idea to be able to identify, for example conversion drop off on particular step and click through it to go to the segment of users to watch their recordings. If one day you implement interviews / unmoderated testing, this could be a great step to extend this journey, i.e. analytics > session replay > invite to an interview. What do you dislike about Amplitude Session Replay?
1. Even though we say it's one line of code to integrate - it actually requires QA and is not that out of the box. We had issues with session_replay_id and eventually got troubleshooted with Ampltd support, but it took a while.
2. Sampling - i agree with the idea, you need a leverage for monetization, but honestly a session should have an explicit description. Counting a session that is 0 seconds, or even less than 3seconds is absolute waste. You cannot tell me that it provides any value.
If pre-filtering (for specific cohorts based on traits or actions) would be something for you to upsell the SR product on, you should at least provide ability to filter out sessions without any insights. Freemium offer that doesn't sell any value of the actual product does not work. You provide ability to customize the definition of a session in Amplitude, why not to connect those two? So i can stick to my actual definition and have consistent insights.
3. Integrations - you provide ex. Qualtrics integration but only based on email. I actually question this because I would not recommend using email (PII) as primary user identifier, which should not be exposed in dataLayer, and oftentimes is not available in a backend. We send all user attributes to both qualtrics and Amplitude, but still cannot utilize the native integration and need to do work around with Hightouch.
4. Filtering - your basic function to filter post recordings does not work - we have sessions that are few seconds, few hours, or certain events. it does not work which makes it uneasy to pick valuable for analysis recordings.
in general Free 10k offer & 1m data retention - 10k is not competitive at all comparing to your competitors who are the pioneers - HJ, CSQ, Clarity... CSQ is 20k free now, but for extra 40$ a month and Growth package we can have up to 13m data retention - which does play a role.
I don't have confidence i can get actual value from SR product right now in Amplitude to make the extra investment and record more sessions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
