"Seamless AWS Fit with Powerful, Predictable Analytics at Scale"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Amazon Redshift?

Amazon Redshift’s biggest advantage is how naturally it fits into the wider AWS ecosystem, especially S3, IAM, and AWS Glue. Its Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) architecture tackles complex multi-table joins across massive datasets—10M+ records—with little friction, which matters when teams need fast, exploratory analysis and fraud modeling.

Redshift Spectrum adds another layer of usefulness. It lets us query cold or unstructured data straight from our S3 data lake with standard SQL, avoiding the overhead and cost of loading everything into the warehouse first. Since it’s based on familiar PostgreSQL syntax, analysts and engineers can ramp up quickly. Redshift also provides a highly predictable pricing and performance model, making enterprise cloud compute costs easier to manage at scale than with many other modern data warehouses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Redshift?

Scaling compute isn't as instant as I'd like. The separation of compute and storage still feels less flexible compared to Snowflake. Concurrency can also be a real headache. When too many analysts hit the cluster with heavy queries at once, things queue up and slow down. It also requires a bit too much manual maintenance under the hood. You still have to stay on top of vacuuming and analyzing tables to keep query performance sharp. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful, Scalable Data Warehousing with Seamless AWS Integration"
5/5
What do you like best about Amazon Redshift?

Amazon Redshift is a powerful cloud data warehouse that makes it easier to manage and analyze large volumes of data. As a Data Engineer, I find it especially useful for building ETL pipelines, running complex SQL queries, and integrating data from Amazon S3 as well as other AWS services. Features like columnar storage, parallel query execution, and tight integration with AWS Glue and Amazon Athena make it a strong fit for modern data engineering workflows. I also appreciate the flexibility to scale resources up or down based on workload requirements, which helps when demands change. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Redshift?

Query performance and cost optimization take careful planning, especially when you’re working with large datasets and complex transformations. Picking the right table design, distribution style, and sort keys can be time-consuming, but it makes a real difference. It’s also important to keep a close eye on resource utilization and to identify and tune expensive queries so costs stay under control. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Blazing-Fast Analytics, with Cost and Tuning Tradeoffs"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Amazon Redshift?

I like Amazon Redshift’s fast, reliable performance on large datasets. Its query processing and columnar storage make aggregation and reporting fast and dependable, and it cut complex query runtimes from over 45 minutes to just under 2 minutes. I also like how it integrates with Amazon S3, AWS Glue, and other AWS services, making reporting smooth. It helps us bring fragmented data together and generate business intelligence and operational dashboards in minutes instead of hours. Redshift Spectrum lets me query unstructured data in S3 without loading it, which saves storage cost and preparation time, and the web-based Query Editor v2 makes sharing queries and analyzing data straightforward. The initial provisioning and cluster setup were straightforward, and the setup was manageable for our engineering team. I find it an outstanding data warehouse for massive analytics workloads, especially for teams already invested in AWS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Redshift?

I find cost management challenging when cluster sizing and heavy queries aren’t monitored regularly. Table vacuuming also requires dedicated database administration know-how, and concurrency scaling can have slight query latency during peak usage without heavy WLM tuning. I’d like smarter alerts for idle clusters, clearer real-time budget dashboards, and automated workload prioritization so I don’t have to configure WLM queues manually. Configuring VPC security groups, network routing, and schema distribution keys also took extra time and planning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, Scalable, and AWS-Friendly"
5/5
What do you like best about Amazon Redshift?

What I like best about Amazon Redshift is its seamless integration with the AWS ecosystem. Querying data directly in S3 with Spectrum and using familiar SQL makes analysis fast and simple, while Redshift Serverless removes most of the infrastructure management. It handles large datasets with strong performance and scales easily as our needs grow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Redshift?

The main downside is that performance tuning can take effort. Choosing the right sort keys and distribution styles and running maintenance like vacuuming isn’t always intuitive. Costs can also be hard to predict, especially with heavy or spiky workloads, and concurrency can become a bottleneck when many users query at once. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Blazing-Fast Analytics on AWS, but Manual Tuning Still Required"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Amazon Redshift?

I love how fast it handles massive datasets. The columnar storage and parallel processing mean complex analytical queries finish in seconds rather than hours. It also plugs perfectly into our existing AWS stack, so loading data straight from S3 using Redshift Spectrum is incredibly smooth and saves us a ton of engineering time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Redshift?

Honestly, it takes way too much manual tuning. Having to constantly worry about sort keys and cluster sizes feels really outdated when modern tools handle that automatically. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Reliable Standard SQL for Heavy Queries on Large Datasets"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Amazon Redshift?

I like that I can run heavy SQL on large datasets and still get results I can trust. Joins across big tables, window functions, and the usual reporting queries all work with standard SQL, so the team doesn’t have to learn a new language. Once the data is loaded, pulling a report or double-checking a number feels straightforward and reliable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Redshift?

It slows down when too many people are querying at the same time. A report that runs fine on its own can end up sitting in a queue, and then you’re tuning workload management instead of simply running SQL. Vacuuming, sort keys, and distribution style also require ongoing attention, and the cluster still costs money even when it’s just sitting idle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
