## Amazon Lightsail Reviews
  ### 1. Quick Setup and Solid Integrations, but UI and Networking Management could be simpler

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

I liked the software integrations the platform provided when setting up instances. The setup process was pretty quick, the support was helpful, and the cost wasn’t prohibitive.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

I disliked the UI and difficulty to setup vm instances and managing the networking was a bit difficult and not very intuitive. amazon's AI chat assistance was not very useful at the time in assisting and gave general information.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AWS Lightsail aims to reduce the friction of setting up instances by offering an intuitive UI that supports multiple use cases.

  ### 2. VPS Hosting for Developers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luca P. | Chief Operations Officer DEQUA Studio | Formerly CTO in MarTech, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

What I like:

Amazon Lightsail stands out as a streamlined, user-friendly cloud platform designed for developers and small businesses seeking to deploy virtual private servers (VPS), containers, databases, and related resources without the complexity of traditional AWS services. The interface is intuitive, making provisioning and managing resources straightforward even for those with limited cloud experience.
Key features that work consistently and efficiently:

	•	Pre-configured VPS Instances: Lightsail provides a selection of pre-configured development stacks (LAMP, Nginx, MEAN, Node.js) and popular applications (WordPress, Magento, Joomla, Prestashop) that can be launched in a few clicks. This reduces manual setup time and simplifies deployment for common web projects.

	•	Predictable Monthly Pricing: The pricing model is transparent and cost-effective, bundling compute, storage, and data transfer into flat monthly rates. This predictability is useful for budgeting and avoids unexpected charges.

	•	Integrated Networking and Security: Automatic configuration of networking, access, and security environments streamlines initial setup. Features like static IP addresses, DNS management, and resource snapshots are included by default.

	•	Managed Databases and Storage: Lightsail offers managed database instances and both SSD-based block and object storage. These services are accessible via the same simplified interface and can be scaled as needed.

	•	Container Services: Lightsail Containers enable fast deployment and management of containerized applications. The service abstracts much of the infrastructure management, integrates load balancing, and supports automatic scaling of containers.

	•	CDN and Load Balancing: Built-in support for content delivery network (CDN) distributions and load balancers improves application performance and availability. These features are managed directly from the Lightsail dashboard.

	•	Easy Scaling and AWS Integration: Projects can be scaled up as needed, and resources can be migrated to the broader AWS ecosystem (such as EC2) when requirements outgrow Lightsail’s capabilities.

	•	Snapshot and Backup Management: Resource snapshots (backups) are available for instances and storage volumes, supporting quick recovery and cloning of environments.

	•	Documentation and Learning Curve: The documentation is clear and targeted at users new to AWS, making it easier to get started without extensive prior knowledge.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

One area where Lightsail could improve is in its limited flexibility and feature set compared to full AWS services. While the simplified interface is a strength for beginners or smaller projects, it can become restrictive for advanced use cases.

For example:
	•	Resource Limitations: Lightsail is best suited for smaller projects that require a limited number of instances. Scaling beyond a few dozen servers or implementing complex networking and security configurations may require migrating to EC2 or other AWS services.

	•	Fewer Advanced Configuration Options: Some advanced AWS features (such as granular IAM roles, advanced networking, or custom VPC setups) are not directly accessible in Lightsail.

	•	Performance Tuning: While Lightsail handles general workloads efficiently, there are fewer options for custom instance types or performance tuning compared to EC2.

	•	Migration Complexity: Migrating from Lightsail to EC2 or integrating deeply with other AWS services can require manual intervention and familiarity with both environments.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using Amazon Lightsail has resolved several practical challenges in deploying and managing web applications and small business workloads:

	•	Rapid Deployment: The ability to launch fully configured environments (such as WordPress blogs, e-commerce sites, or development stacks) in minutes eliminates much of the manual setup and troubleshooting typically required with traditional VPS providers.

	•	Cost Control: The flat-rate pricing model has provided clear cost expectations and removed the risk of unexpected charges, which is particularly valuable for small organizations and individual developers.

	•	Simplified Management: The unified dashboard for managing compute, storage, networking, and backups has reduced operational overhead and made it easier to maintain infrastructure without deep AWS expertise.

	•	Experimentation and Learning: Lightsail has served as a low-risk environment for experimenting with cloud deployments, testing new ideas, and learning AWS fundamentals without the complexity of the broader AWS ecosystem.

	•	Reliable Hosting: For small-scale production workloads, Lightsail has delivered stable performance and uptime, leveraging the underlying reliability and security of the AWS platform.

	•	Easy Scaling Path: When projects have outgrown Lightsail’s capabilities, the migration path to EC2 or integration with other AWS services has enabled continued growth without needing to re-platform entirely.

  ### 3. Deploying containers on light sail

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Korla G. | Open source contributor , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

I struggled to depoy my container on ECS but Light sail has beginner friendly ui to deploy containers. I deployed my simple node.js image from docker hub to light sail. I need not to write any docker commands to access the container, I need to mention my image , port and some environment variables , light sail then gives a link through which I can view my node app.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

Light sail is so easy to understand and beginner friendly comes pre baked with applications and ready to use with click of button as a beginner I didn't found any down sides of using light sail.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I deployed my containerized node image on docker hub to light sail, which is super easy and quick . I can deploy up to 10 containers on the machine. Before this I have used ECS , I found deploying through light sail is easy and simple than ECS for simple containers. It also comes with some default templates like nginx, hello-world containers to getting started with light sail.

Some configurations are not modifiable

  ### 5. Point, Click, Deploy.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stef B. | Sole Proprietor, Real Estate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

I use Lightsail for my Wordpress Multisite. After previously rolling my own install, I decided that a point and click option to get me up and running in an hour was worth it. It really is point and click. Setting up your FTP access is simple with easy to understand directions. Price is great. If you are testing or a new business, you can get free months to get up and running. As you grow, it grows with you. Simply back up your server and re-deploy on the new one. For small business owners that self host and want to have a sense of ownership of the apps you use, Lightsail make it a fast and simple deployment

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

I previously had issues with support but over time that has definitley been a lot better.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time saving for deploying Wordpress Multisites while in production. Keeps my business online with minimal effort.

The ability to be somewhat hands on with the admin of my blog without needing to have a deeper understanding of many of AWS's other components.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

It wasn't very reliable for my use-case.

Getting a wordpress blog up and running from scratch

  ### 7. Affordable and fixed price Hosting from Amazon

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anand S. | IT Head, Consumer Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

Server cost is fixed unline EC2, and the performance is very good and easy to deploy. it can be integrated with other AWS services. Implementation is very simple.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

I have not found any negative aspects with Lightsail yet.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Got a high-class server with fixed costs not burning the pocket, and the performance is no less than Elestice Computing servers EC2. There are ready-to-deploy OS with packages.

  ### 8. Amazon Lightsail is most suitable for small-scale projects with Virtual Private Server dependencies

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Meghna S. | Cloud Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

Amazon Lightsail provisions a stable & secure VPS hosting platform at an affordable price.

It offers cloud-based virtualized servers where my server resources & their dependencies are not shared with multiple users.

We can segregate our partitions in the virtual server and grant access to our peers to work on various server installation & configuration tasks.

Since Amazon entirely manages the infrastructure, we don't have to worry about the scalability & availability of these servers.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

Amazon Lightsail is best suited for small-scale projects with limited domain traffic exceeding much and minimal server workload.

For large-scale projects, we would require dedicated servers with higher computational resources.

All the hosting implementation & isolation is done only at the virtual layer of the operating system, so it's not ideal for clients who demand security governance & customer data integrity.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I make use of Amazon Lightsail service as it provides simple VPS instances for small-scale projects.

All of my web application requirements are pre-configured in its instance templates & its deployment can be done with a few clicks.

It uniformly routes our server traffic through its load balancers & prevents server outages.

On a few occasions, the server loads were relatively high, and I was able to take snapshots of my Lightsail instances and export them easily onto Amazon EC2.

  ### 9. Cost effective cloud option without the complexity

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Newstar C. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

AWS Lightsail is available on the free tier and is a cost effective way to build and deploy applications fast. With bundled resources and preconfigured enviroments launching a server is easy.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

Since AWS Lightsail is a set of bundled resources it is not always suitable for complex application requirements.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Right from spinning up test environments to launching web applications and websites, Amazon Lightsail provides a simple way to get started without numerous architectural decision points holding you back.

  ### 10. Effortless web hosting with Amazon LightSail

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarath K. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

Amazon Lightsail is incredibly user-friendly and a component of AWS, which offers customers a traditional VPS service. While doing so in a safe manner, it offers virtual servers, storage, and networking infrastructure for websites, web applications, and other related workloads. It is intended for programmers, small companies, and other users that wish to swiftly set up and deploy their applications on a cloud platform.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

The DNS possibilities are limited in comparison to route53's complete offering, and not all AWS capability is offered. Additionally, all services created with Lightsail appear to be accessible from the complete AWS EC2 UI.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Without any prior understanding of the AWS console, Lightsail makes it simple for us to manage a single VPS within the AWS architecture. It gives us access to AWS's entire capabilities.

  ### 11. Simple, quick and cheap solution for classic web development and deployment on a VPS environment

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** hairil h. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

It is very easy to use and as part of the AWS that provide the classic VPS solution to the consumer. While it does it in a secure manner that provides virtual servers, storage, and networking infrastructure for web applications, websites, and other similar workloads. It is aimed at developers, small businesses, and other users who want to quickly set up and deploy their applications on a cloud platform.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

Compare to the other offering from AWS, this is among the least customizable in term of features aka basic. users who need more advanced features, such as auto-scaling and advanced networking, may want to consider other AWS services such as EC2, ECS, or EKS.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need a simple solution to deploy web application so a VPS within the vast AWS platform does it similar to those cloud VPS hosting which provide similar services but Amazon Lightsail is competitively price with the competitor on this side of offering.

  ### 12. AWS Lightsail - Simple Cloud Hosting with Powerful Features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shubham K. | Cloud Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

What I liked about Amazon Lightsail is its features like automatic backups and replication, which help ensure that our data is always available and protected. It also provides monitoring tools that allow us to keep an eye on the health of our resources.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

The thing I dislike about Amazon Lightsail is its pricing. It’s a good choice for small workloads because it offers affordable pricing plans. But if you have a large workload requiring storage space, it’s a bit expensive.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Amazon Lightsail makes it easy for us to set up and manage their virtual cloud servers. It saves our effort because we don't need to be an expert in server administration.

  ### 13. AWS Lightsail Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rachit M. | Entity Non Officer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2023

AWS Lightsail provides developers a quick way to get a compute, storage, networking capacity and capability to deploy and manage websites and web applications on the cloud. It is highly scalable and secured

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

There are no metrics and dashboards available to understand the AWS Lightsail behaviour. It does support integration with other AWS services. It has virtual server issues along with DNS zone issues

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us quickly move our web applications or servers to the cloud. Since its a cloud, it can be created quickly and destroyed easily. It is scalable and can be made available with different platform for the web application

  ### 14. Great intro to using AWS without the worry of overcomplicating

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zachary C. | Director & Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

Amazon lightsail makes it very easy to get the full power of AWS EC2 or managed container services without the worry of using the full AWS control panel, this can help keep track of budgets easily.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

Not all of the AWS functionality is available, the DNS options are lacking compared to the full route53 offering. And any services made within lightsail seem to be available within the full AWS ec2 console.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lightsail makes it easy for us to maintain a single VPS within the AWS infrastructure without the knowledge of the AWS console. It provides us the full power of AWS.

  ### 15. Lots of features

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard M H. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

There are many features, particularly user management system features (IAMS) which are enormously versatile: You can get the system to do what you want or allow others to do so.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

The system's versatility is also its drawback: it's complicated, and you need someone who uses these systems regularly; otherwise, you feel a bit lost with many options and fear of doing the wrong thing.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Amazon Lightsail, where versatility, such as using different databases, linking with other systems and other features more advanced than just "putting up a page" is needed.

  ### 16. t is a good option for individuals or small businesses who want to run web applications or host

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prasanth V. | System Engineer , Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

One of the best things about Amazon Lightsail is that it's an easy-to-use and affordable service for those who are new to cloud computing or don't have a lot of experience with managing servers

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

It also includes a variety of networking, storage, and security features that make it easier for users to manage their instances.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Complexity: Setting up and managing a VPS instance can be a complex process, requiring a significant amount of technical knowledge and experience. Amazon Lightsail simplifies this process by providing a user-friendly interface and preconfigured options that make it easy for even non-technical users to launch a server instance.

  ### 17. Review lightsail

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohamed E. | Senior Technician, ICT Systems, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

Lightsail enables me to find server, storage and network resources smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

I found that there were no free trials to lightsails

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't have to procure any hardware, as everything I require is available

  ### 18. Best Web hosting cloud solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mrinmai S. | Consultant II, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

There is a lot to like in Lightsail but the one thing that I Iike the most is that all the services that one can need, is all bundled into a single service and dashboard. It is very easy to manage my hosted web applications, servers, database, DNS, etc., And most of all it is extremely cheaper when compared to the traditional EC2 services or any other cloud host provider. It offers a fixed monthly charge for all its services, starting from as low as $3.5.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

There is nothing to dislike but I would really love it if we could dynamically create new Lightsail servers and added them to a load balancer, currently, I guess there is no direct way of doing it and in a load-balancer, the number of servers are kindly fixed and need to be added or removed manually. it would be amazing if we could configure it to dynamically increase and reduce servers based on the incoming traffic.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are a lot of benefits. We are mainly using Lightsail for web-hosting, DNS and database services. Ever since we started using Lightsail we have been able to cut down a lot on infra cost without having to compromise on performance.

  ### 19. Good but not great!

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dhruval J. | Founder, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

AWS offers great options for locations, but that comes with the cost. Performance and availability of service is good. Setup and configuration is also easy and simple.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

Lightsail is not fully scalable option like EC2. Pricing is somewhat high compared to others. Overall Lightsail feels like traditional hosting, not as cloud. Maybe it's made that way.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

It's very good product with proper Infrastructure knowledge, for beginners it's easiest among other AWS products.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Primarily I used it for RDP where I used to run apps and tasks that requires 24/7 availability. It did effective job, not the best but better. I also used it for hosting game server, it worked well.

  ### 20. Great all in one service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allan P. | Technology Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

Easy configuration and setup. It felt good to have a service which caters to the storage and servers together.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

There should be a better alternative for lightsail backups than just a complete snapshot limited to a few.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

It's a good choice if you are used to Digital Ocean and Linode based services

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy launch of the web server set speeding up deployment.

  ### 21. amazing service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** james h. | administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

i like lightsail's storage and container services.
they're amazing among other

storing Data with low cost and server with high availability.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

Amazon LightSail is a very good service from Amazon. The servers are very good, but it needs ongoing developer maintenance which has costs.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

The fact that the servers need ongoing developer maintenance and it has costs.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AmazonLightsail has a very simple dashboard and everything is simple to create and build/

  ### 23. Now You Can Have Your Dream HOSTING FOR SMALL BUSINESS WEBSITES FREE FOR THREE MONTHS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Account M. | Marketing Consultant, software engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

You get full control over your website, domain, network IP, and server size. You can choose the system you need based on usage and upgrade anytime you need to. You have access to all the high-end features like backups and databases as needed. I felt right at home on the platform. I set up a WordPress website and was able to have it live in minutes.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

For a beginner, you might have trouble since this is a fully integrated package. This isn't something to dislike. It puts the power of control in your hands. You do have to have some background to set up the sites completely. For example, you will need to configure your own DNS entries. YouTube videos have you covered if you need help.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wanted to move off a full-service Hosting platform to something I could save on cost and still have access to configure everything I needed for my website to be fully functional. The cost savings are significant - from $49 a month down to $3.5. I have site traffic coming in and my site is rated very high in speed and response times.

  ### 24. Good but not the best yet

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Md U. | CHIEF, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

Easy to setup, FREE Cloudfront (limited bandwidth), Price & Availabilities

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

Not well optimized and easily get crashed.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

Anyone can use lightsail who has basic knowledge of CLI & not limited to GUI. Also, Amazon doesn't have dedicated customer support for you for free though there are a lot of blogs/forums/official knowledgebase where you can have your questions answered already. But again, if you are a newbie to cloud computing/VPS, then its not your thing.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using lightsail for a few of my wordpress sites and some other linux based applications. Lightsail price is low compared to other service providers, and for any business that wants to cut some costs, lightsail is recommended.

  ### 25. A decent webserver with Wordpress support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antonio M. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

Lightsail is a great lightweight web server. I most like the ability to set up and run a WordPress installation on an Amazon server - that was a breakthrough and helped us set up the website as we wanted it.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

Lightsail is rather technical and setting up caching mechanisms on it was hard. I had to ask for help from more experienced colleagues. The issue was also a lack of documentation for the most used features, like that cache.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

Switching from a shared hosting is a challenging process if you are not accustomed to working in the command-line interface.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We switched from hosting our WordPress newspaper website on a shared server to an Amazon server (where we hosted the bigger projects). It came with a great performance boost at the cost of simplicity.

  ### 26. Cost Effective Cloud Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zobia K. | Jr. Devops Engineer , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

AWS Lightsail prove itself best in terms of computing at cheap cost with the accessibility of databases, autoscaling load balancers etc. this is good and cheap for small projects and functions

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

There is not as much to mention for its dislike as it is an excellent service, but as compared to ec2, it is only suitable for small functions and has fewer managed VMs in it.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefits were if we want to deploy a small website, then EC2 seems costly, and their managed services are not being used effeciently. So, therefore, light sail in less cost full fill the requirements of small functions efficiently

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

I like how effectively you can select location to deploy your project across the world. It's easy and simple. Performance is also fair to price we check it on production

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

Pricing is little bit concern and IAM from AWS is hectic. It should be improved as it's required feature. Apart from that, I haven't seen any performance issues.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've deployed many WordPress sites and some Magento sites as well.

It perform well, mostly due to location we choose for instance. I find issue when it comes to scale the instance.

  ### 28. OK for price paid

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

They have one of the best eco-system in the industry. Performance is also fair enough. With there vast available locations it's prime cloud provider in industry.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

UI and eco-system is somewhat overwhelming for new beginners. Must require prior experience with any other provider to start here. Also, pricing is little bit more then competition.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

Good for availability and locations.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scalability is concern! You can't scale Lightsail as you do in EC2, it fails miserably in high performance environment. Normal and general usage is fine for this product.

  ### 29. Good experience with using instances on Amazon Lightsail

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

Lots of options for creating an instance, variable cost options. Easy to deploy the instances. Very good for small business to start development. It is very cost effective and seamless. The documentation for installation of different instances is provided very effectively which makes it easier to use. It does not have much complex function like that of an EC2 instance. The walkaround is user friendly and everything is readable.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

Documentations for connecting one or more instances are usually not there. Initially i struggles with connecting two or more instances such as the front to the back end on the Lightsail instance as different documentation needs to be provided. However I got much help from Youtube and other open source tutorials which made it easier to navigate and deploy 2 or more instances.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

Good for smaller businesses like the one I'm working with.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am creating and deploying an App on Amazon Lightsail. Amazon Lightsail had good cost for smaller businesses. The app consists of a Django based Frontend along with MySql database. The app also includes various other third party interfaces which was easy to deploy in the Amazon Lightsail as I did not face any difficulty there. The benefits of using Amazon Lightsail is the pricing and its quick transfer from this platofrm to another such as EC2 to upscale the business. The scaling of Lightsail is also pretty good for small businesses.

  ### 30. Easy Website Setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

There's a super intuitive UI/UX to work with, the basic configurations would work for anyone trying to make a quick site for testing envs or staging products. It also gives you multiple choices for content management or if you want only a operative system on the instance, that is possible too. Which I recommend to use since the other apps have a common configuration with bitnami which is more difficult to understand and manage.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

The configurations steps and tricks to make it work with other services like Route53 or ELB's are not working, deprecated or not exist. Also when installing packages such as wordpress or joomla they are not updated so it makes more difficult to reach a production point, since you have to spend time updating, analyzing and trying new fixes. There's a fix opportunity when talking about the DNS configuration for wordpress, if you want to get rid of the default DNS record, you must go trough the bitnami configuration to update the DNS entry for your site, however that doesn't work for standalone sites just for the multione.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast working websites/multisites, the UI/UX have multiple actors of the scene like the DNS Records, IP configurations, the instance setups and you can customize each of them to work in different regions or enviroments. I'm providing multiple vendors with standalone sites and multiple sites under one domain. It's possible also to serve other domains below the same instance.

  ### 31. "The chepeast and the best alternative."

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saurav S. | Information Technology Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

Its best among students which helps them to create their website and small scale applications. AWS Lightsail is the best and the cheapest among all the competition int the market. The feature I like the most is that it is different in terms of pricing from AWS EC2 as it has its own pricing structure and packages based on a fixed pricing model. I run a VPN server and its not cheap to pay for each GB you use in AWS EC2, this issue was fixed in AWS Lightsail as they provide a fixed amount of bandwidth for each tier which is very useful so that we don't have to pay per GB.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

There is not much to complain about AWS Lightsail, but the only thing that I stumbled upon was that I accidentally had a charge regarding a snapshot that I created for my VM that incurred charges during my one month trial of the basic $3.5 package which was due to inadequate documentation and information about what services we can or cannot use.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

If you are a student or a startup consider getting AWS for their QoS and better vast availability regions and deploy your projects in no time. They also provide free trail for business and personal uses.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a student, I had very fewer recourses and didn't have lots of money to spend on my projects, that's when AWS came to help. I could deploy any Windows or Linux based workloads and projects in any regions free of cost during my trail phases.

  ### 32. The 1st choice for IT students and reliable service operators.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sandesh S. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

The most attractive feature of AWS LightSail is that it is completely different from classic AWS EC2.
The one thing that I like most is that there are packages with very cheap monthly rate so a student like me can afford it and deploy our projects or create a testing environment. AWS LightSail has a targeted amount of bandwidth set for every specific package and this is very good from Classic AWS EC2 where you need to pay for data out bandwidth charge, which is trust me HUGE!! and also the free trial for a month for (0.5MB RAM/ 1VCPU / 500GB bandwidth ) Just for $3.5/month is sweet.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

Nothing much but there is lot less documentation on LightSail than the classic AWS EC2, lot less regions to deploy servers in.
No current usage shown /month or how much days you have left in free trial, you have to dig deeper in the AWS billing page to find the data shown in hours, which is pretty bad and not time freindly.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

One thing only just let users know how much days the users have used in main panel rather than hidden in some part of billing, and proper documentation on freetrial.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Content Restrictions on video streaming platforms like Prime Video & Netflix by creating a VPN server in the region. Everyone from WFH connected to 1 static VPN service which is nice as local ISP's static IP cost's upward of $1500/ month for 100MBps lease line.

  ### 33. Amazon Lightsai

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard J. | Senior Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

One of the things that I liked about Amazon Lightsail was that it came pre-configured with development stacks like LAMP and Nginx making it easy for us to get your web application online. To add, Amazon Lightsail scales well to handle an increase in traffic and heavier workloads ensuring that any app hosted using Lightsail does not lag or be unable to handle requests..

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

In my use of Lightsail, there was nothing that I disliked.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

For me, I feel that everybody especially web administrators should be using Amazon Lightsail

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used lightsail to host our internal hospital management system and it was scaling up well when there was an increase in traffic. We were saving time and costs to manage our own hosting infrasture in-house

  ### 34. AWS Lightsail makes creating a website extremely easy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Neiro V. | mechatronic engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

What I like most about this product is the ease with which it allows you to mount your web server, in less than 10 minutes you can mount on your server without major difficulties. Another feature that improves even more the ease of implementation is that it has more than 12 images of stacks and applications such as wordpress or magento.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

The main problem is that since it is designed for beginners and lacks flexibility in making more advanced configurations, it sacrifices power for ease of use. Therefore it is not recommended for very complex applications and that have a very specific configuration.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

The recommendation that I make to those who aspire to use amazon Lightsail is to use it if they need speed and simplicity when setting up their web project. It is a good way to start in the web world, as it gives you an easy and very intuitive environment to start your website.

If the project is large and complex, better use another AWS tool that allows more flexibility and control.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We implemented amazon Lightsail by setting up a website and an ERP tool called odoo. It was very easy for us to implement it. We also created a test environment for the application. It has also made it easy for us to manage the site, make snapshots, create databases and add new hard drives according to the requirements of our application.

  ### 35. Lightsail simplifies the process of launching a web server instance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh M. | Senior Project Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

AWS Configuration can be confusing sometimes. With Lightsail, configuration and launch of an AWS EC2 instance takes almost no time, and removes the need for intricate knowledge of how AWS networking, VPC, and other services work.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

It would be nice to be able to configure Lightsail for loadbalancing and auto-scaling

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

As long as you're not looking for something that can handle more than a simple server setup, Lightsail is a great product to use.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Launching simple environments for customers who do not require advanced functionality has been greatly simplified and has a much lower cost monthly.

  ### 36. Lightweight Solution for Small Projects

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

The templates provided are excellent for starting up small projects. The fact that it manages most of the drudge work of spinning up a sever is a lifesaver.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

It's not that good for projects that you're expecting a ton of traffic for. For a proof-of-concept mockup, however, it's really good.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

Do you need to spin up a quick instance to prove an idea? Use Lightsail.
Are you curious about a particular technology? Use Lightsail.
Are you trying to create an enterprise solution to an issue? Use EC2 instances.
Are you trying to host a script with an API endpoint? Use Amazon Lambda.

For what it does, Lightsail does well. Just don't try to stretch it too far.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sometimes, providing a spec isn't enough to get the point across for what you intend to do on a project. This helps alleviate that by allowing developers to create lightweight proof-of-concept applications for stakeholders.

It's also handy if you're curious about a particular technology and want to play around with different configurations.

  ### 37. Great alternative to EC2

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alek K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

I like the way I can interact with the instance in the browser when I need to. It's way quicker that actually SSH to the instance. Apart from that, I love how I can set up Auto-Scalling and other features and integrate them so freely.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

I do not really like the option of having it insecure and be able to SSH it through the browser without having .PEM key. It is something I mentioned as an advantage (it is fast and easy) but also a disadvantage (highly insecure).

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

I would definitely recommend to consider the following before thinking to move to Amazon Lightsail:
1) Are you satisfied with your Elastic Compute Cloud costs? If so, then do not move to Amazon Lightsail;
2) Have you considered Docker? If you have, have you found it to be more efficient for testing locally? If not, then move to Amazon Lightsail;
3) Do you need any small memory and compute service for at low costs? If yes, then move to Amazon Lightsail;

I would definitely suggest Amazon Ligjhtsail to anyone who wants to host a simple application or a website because it would be a low cost hosting. However, if you need an instance just for testing something out, I would highly suggest using Docker or some other alternatives.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Expenditure costs on testing some features on instances - Amazon Lightsail provides instances at low cost where all experimentation can take place.

  ### 38. My opinion on LightSail

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sukhpreet S. | Software Developer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

Lightsail is a Amazon cloud service which provide virtual private servers to users which can be used for starting a new project. The best thing is that it rely on Amazon own AWS which is the most reliable and used cloud computing platform.
Its really fast and easy and particularly designed for users that are new on cloud service.
It provide really competitive plans which are affordable for new projects.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

Its not good to use lightsail services for bigger projects. It is basically built for small and new projects. Its plans compete woth DigitalOcean which provide better RAM optiona in this price point

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We basically used the Lightsail cloud services for hosting our project.
Services provided was really good. Uptime was almost 100% effective

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it as quick and dirty test servers as well as hosting our Company website.

**What do you like best about Amazon Lightsail?**

Cost is the same as a static ip from my isp but I get a whole system behind it.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

Little bit of a pain to get it setup as a mail server due to restrictions, though as an email admin I do understand the loops to limit spam.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

More reliable up time and upgrades are easier since I can build a machine side by side and then flip the static ip when it is ready.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Lightsail?**

The pricing is slightly higher compare to other cloud service provider. It could lower its operating cost.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon Lightsail:**

Start-ups or small level companies that cannot afford heavy infrastructure can use it. Extremely useful.

**What problems is Amazon Lightsail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For programs that have high requirements in running, its difficult to build its necessary infrastructure. Amazon Lightsail does the heavy lifting and manages the servers that are required, which simplifies our job. Our only responsibility now is the code

Just don't use it at least for now. The weird network tick is causing alot of trouble. The setup is not easy at all. It has a layered host server which has a different IP.
