Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP combines fully managed AWS infrastructure with NetApp ONTAP's enterprise storage capabilities. I particularly like support for SnapMirror, FlexClone, Snapshots, Thin Provisioning, Data Deduplication, Compression, and Multi-Protocol Access (NFS, SMB, iSCSI), making it suitable for enterprise migrations and hybrid cloud deployments. Performance is excellent for databases, VMware workloads, enterprise applications, and development environments. What do you dislike about Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP? The feature set is extensive, resulting in a steeper learning curve than EFS or basic FSx deployments. FSx for NetApp ONTAP simplified migrating enterprise NAS workloads to AWS without changing existing storage workflows. Example: Legacy enterprise applications migrated existing ONTAP volumes into AWS using SnapMirror while retaining familiar snapshot, cloning, and disaster recovery workflows. Cost - Some users find difficulty in price management particularly in large-scale deployments. Support- There are multiple reviews about the quality and responses of customer support. Difficulty in Storage Management - Old styles of managing systems can be complex and requires expertise in specific investments. It benifits to users who can reduce cost related with hardware, maintanence and data center sevices. 3. Data Safety and recovery - Ensure data safety and fast recovery in failure cases can be difficult with old storage management.
