The speed improvements over my previous host were incredible and it was about the same price. **What do you dislike about Akamai Cloud Computing?** I've never had a negative experience with Linode. Customer service reps are polite and knowledgeable. **Recommendations to others considering Akamai Cloud Computing:** Read the docs on their website. **What problems is Akamai Cloud Computing solving and how is that benefiting you?** I needed better servers and I found them with Linode. ### 2. Their service is completely top notch. Any issues will be dealt with promptly. **What do you dislike about Akamai Cloud Computing?** The pricing used to be monthly instead of usage based, That is why i left, because I wanted to have the drop in costs by only running the server at limited times and being charged for that. Linode has since changed their policy, and does this. I would love to return, but I just haven't had time. **Recommendations to others considering Akamai Cloud Computing:** Do it. Really do it. Linode is a very good service, I can't speak highly enough for their service and support. **What problems is Akamai Cloud Computing solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were looking for distributed build and test servers, Linode provided us with high-availability at a reasonable price. ### 3. Gets the job done, but occasional hiccups **Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2015 **What do you like best about Akamai Cloud Computing?** The price is right for a small machine - think hosting a personal website / having just a small instance in the cloud to muck around with. **What do you dislike about Akamai Cloud Computing?** There have been a few bad experiences over the years with downtime - once, the time between Pingdom telling me my webserver isn't responding and Linode acknowledging a hardware issue was 40 minutes. Yuuuck. **Recommendations to others considering Akamai Cloud Computing:** Relatively stable, my same instance has been up for years without much maintenance after I set it up. The admin interface is pretty nice. **What problems is Akamai Cloud Computing solving and how is that benefiting you?** Just hosting a personal website. ### 4. So, for us, choosing Linode as our VPS host made perfect sense: (1) have been around over 10+ years, (2) Great support service, (3) Granular product offering, and price-wise, they are very reasonable. We are a technology company, so we know one or two things about setting up Linux servers, but I have to admist, Linode support documentation was a great resource that I find myself going back to often. Over the years, I have been in touch with Linode support personnel, and that happens when things are not going right. The support staff are very helpful, knowledgeable, polite and professional. **What do you dislike about Akamai Cloud Computing?** Linode recent offer to upgrade (double memory) for small Linode VPS excluded us because we are using 32-bit kernel. **What problems is Akamai Cloud Computing solving and how is that benefiting you?** Hosting main website and an application web service. ### 5. Chose from about one dozen Linux distributions and click "go". It's easy to configure virtual disks and to have multiple configurations within one Linode container. The tech support is excellent. They answer your questions correctly, reliably, and usually without a lot of back and forth.
