# What are the best database systems for transactional workloads?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Looking at data on G2’s <a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/database-management-systems-dbms"><strong>Database Management Systems (DBMS)</strong></a> category page, Microsoft SQL Server, Google Cloud SQL, and TiDB stand out to users evaluating systems with strong transactional (OLTP) capabilities. See below for my top software list. </p><ol>

<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/microsoft-sql-server/reviews"><strong>Microsoft SQL Server</strong></a> – a mature RDBMS widely used for OLTP with robust backup/recovery, migration tooling, and strong enterprise adoption. </li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/google-cloud-sql/reviews"><strong>Google Cloud SQL</strong></a> – a fully managed service for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server, making it a practical OLTP choice when you want managed operations with familiar relational engines. </li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/tidb/reviews"><strong>TiDB</strong></a> – an open-source, distributed SQL database that blends horizontal scalability with MySQL compatibility, making it attractive for high-throughput transactional apps that need scale-out. </li>
