## Ableton Live Reviews
  ### 1. Excellent DAW for playback

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joel A. | Retail Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

It’s compatibility with other software that enables playback

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

It’s not the most user friendly. It requires you to spend a lot of time learning the software.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Subscribe to From Studio to Stage for tutorials

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I’m able to automate screens, lights, and video while playing back recorded stems and sequences

  ### 2. Ableton is the premiere music production platform.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

I have been producing for over 8 years and have used a variety of different platforms including FL Studio, Logic, Pro Tools, etc. In trying all of these, I have come to love Ableton Live more than any other platform because of how robust the program is. It is very cutting edge and has historical offered features not available in other platforms, that were then later on copied by competitors, making it clear that it is the leading software for music production. I originally moved to Ableton for the warping feature and the grouping feature, which have since been copied by other softwares and are now seemingly essentials. It is one of the only softwares that can be used for both production as well as live performances.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

Ableton has a bit of a learning curve. Programs like FL Studio and Logic are much easier to grasp and you can begin making simple tracks right away. However, with Ableton, it is a bit more difficult. In the beginning, it was frustrating trying to produce but being hindered by a lack of understanding of how to accomplish certain tasks within the software, This was the case with other software I have used, but Ableton is seemingly a bit less visual. However, I began to realize that its complexity is partly due to the fact that the software offers so many different features.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Definitely check out Ableton Live if you are music producer, and especially if you want to perform live.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used this software for music production, and for live performances as well.

  ### 3. Create Music Immediately

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew W. | Music Composer, Music, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Ableton is such a fluid, easy to use DAW that it really makes all other DAW's seem overly complicated by comparison.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

I dislike the inability to easily send out MIDI Timecode information to other programs. This isn't a huge deal, but it makes it difficult to use the software for film/media scoring projects.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Ableton Live is a really amazing piece of software that is sure to help you get your musical ideas out very quickly and fluidly. If you're planning on using it live onstage with a band for performances, you're going to be very happy. Equally if you live in a recording studio, it's going to help increase your musical output exponentially. Go check it out immediately! Also, start with the free demo mode because if it is confusing or you simply don't like the interface for any reason, then you can save yourself a lot of money by evaluating the free version first!

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Ableton daily for sound design, audio editing, audio recording, and sequencing MIDI.

  ### 4. Create the Content you want!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jack M. | Sales Assistant, Construction, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Ableton Live is always customizable to the max and you're able to create a project that you truly are imagining. Having this program to create multi track projects can help you create something small, or a multi-tracked masterpiece. With a relatively easy interface, the more you practice with it the more you'll catch on real quick. This program allows you to truly customize your project with the use of several different plug-in features and tools-- as well as downloadable programs to truly create the sound you want.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

The one thing I dislike would be the design and color schemes of the program-- and while it's fairly easy, I've used many programs that are much more user friendly right from the first usage

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Practice makes perfect when navigating this system.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are being able to create audio clips for our marketing material that includes short clips for commercials, our commercial jingles, as well as our audio to our Drone Shots of our over twenty beautiful New home Construction Communities.

  ### 5. Best for sampling music

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason D. | Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

It feels more professional than FL Studio and I really like the sound qualtity when you are sampling.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

The UI is a bit complicated but to be honest, everything takes time

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed something to sample some music for a client and FL wasn't cutting it. I started using Ableton and it has speeded up my work flow.

  ### 6. Launch live sequences with this flexible and powerful software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Candelaria A. | Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

It is a complete system for mixing, production, and post-production. Although it is popularized for electronic music, its possibilities are endless and open to all styles and genres. The most interesting aspect of live is precisely the ease with which we can program and launch sequences and/or effects, processors, etc., in real time with just the press of a button. Additionally, programming it is very simple and highly flexible.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

We have some issues with latency for certain VSTs. It would be good if it incorporated more analog audio processing elements by default.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

If you are dedicated to music, production, this software will help you achieve the best results. Additionally, it is very useful for live performances.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is an essential tool for creating audio sequences for presentations and advertising, and also for scheduling their live launch.

  ### 7. Ableton Live is the best thing to happen to producers since the 808

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris H. | Sales Development Representative, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

The ability to create rich professional tracks from a unified source.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

Not much really, I guess that I could complain about the price, but realistically what it can replace in hardware, it pays for itself.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

buckle up, you will be pulling some all-nighters!

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ableton Live allows anyone to create, mix, remix and edit audio on a professional level for a fraction of the price of physical hardware.

  ### 8. The best if you want to be the best

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyler S. | Production Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

The ability to do almost everything I need between wi-fi midi connections, triggering backing tracks, and recording live sound, there has not been a single thing I've wanted to do that was not possible with Ableton when it has come to music.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

The large learning curve in the beginning is a little daunting, and the tutorials can be frustrating.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Start with the free trial and decide from there if Ableton is the right product for you.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm solving all my live audio needs and backing tracks with multiple outputs and getting a cleaner front of house mix overall.

  ### 9. Amazing and easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron S. | Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Been using Ableton for almost 10 years now. Love how easy it is to pick up. What’s great is I’m still finding new tricks and techniques within the software.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

Sometimes Ableton can be a little clunky. wish when you automate pitch in a MIDI clip it wouldn’t mess up if you pause the clip in the middle of automation. You have to play the entire automation out for it to reset, as long as you reset the automation however

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

If you want to learn music production or even simple audio editing Ableton Live is a great tool to start learning.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ableton has cut my workflow in half the time it used to take me in FL Studios. I’m able to create an idea in a quick amount of time and put what’s inside my head into the DAW. I love being able to create everyday for a living.

  ### 10. Ableton Live | Music on your fingers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Ableton Live is the most advanced Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) in the market. The best part of the software is the session view in which we can test a number of instruments and their variations at once. There is no need to limit your imagination. Just go on with the session view and test all the Permutations and Combinations of the sound that you want and make it just the perfect before bouncing it. Once done, replicate the best arrangement in the arrangement view and you're ready with the song.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

Price is a considerable dislike. No doubt the software is one of the best in the Digital Audio Workstation's world, but the price is a bit on the higher side. The price can be bought down a bit so that the young people of the Music Industry also have a chance to explore this awesome product.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Ableton Live, being one of the most expensive DAW's, most people do not consider this software. But I would definitely suggest to reach out to a professional Music Producer and learn the easiness and efficiency that this product brings. So I would suggest definitely go ahead and try this product.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All the in-house video productions require music in the background. So you can jam up your creative skills and start producing videos for all type of purposes.

  ### 11. The Holy Grail

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Everything about Ableton is intrinsically designed for a computer-using audiophile or musician. It is unique in that it allows users to write tracks within a grid sequencer rather than traditionally composing from left to right on a timeline. It is also the only DAW to include its own programming environment designed to allow anybody with coding experience to create their own devices (Max4Live)

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

Minor workflow mishaps but there’s honestly 1 error for every 2 million things done correctly in this software.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I quit my original career path as an assistant at a major entertainment company when I understood how Ableton worked. Not joking. It simplifies and makes writing and recording music on a computer fun and flexible.

  ### 12. The perfect way for someone to get into music - easy to use and so effective

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

I love Ableton live its incredible easy to get into, whilst at the same time allows you to really produce incredible studio music. Something I've found very impressive

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

Occasionally the system can experience issues with plug ins and VSTS - always make sure you backup your audio several times.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

I would say jump in and get involved with Ableton - learn on the fly and read up well on techniques which will keep you ahead of the game. Dont be afraid to use plugins and follow youtube tutorials.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm solving issues with how to quickly edit audio for video and for personal use. It's quick to export which is great when you're on the move.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Fine Art | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2019

The session view workflow provides a non linear approach which helps construct and arrange compositions without committing to a designated pattern.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

The arrangement view could be improved in the future.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integrates well with my iPad with Ableton Link and has made making music with my creative output much easier and more professional.

  ### 14. Hard to learn but worth it!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Winford M. | Office Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

This software can do absolutely anything from recording, editing, mixing, mastering, midi mapping and running live backing tracks. It takes a bit to learn, but once you do, you don't need any other music related software to complete tasks unless you have a personal preference.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

Price and It's so hard to use :-). I had someone try to teach me and it didn't make any sense. I had to start watching youtube videos to understand what each button does. Once I got over that hump, I was rolling.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Have patience with your self, watch a lot of videos on Youtube, and if you know someone else using it, ask a lot of questions.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None.

  ### 15. Easy to use if you have worked with any DAW

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

This software is not only easy on the eyes it's also easy on the mind; once familiar you really can get dug in and creat something great with the bare essentials.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

Integrations with Bluetooth speakers and headphones could use some looking into, and advancement.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Like everything it takes time to learn but if you familiar with the way DAW'S work it's just like riding a bike.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not a professional producer but I am very into making music in this allows me to do so.

  ### 16. Perfect for composers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

It's a resourceful program for audio editing, composing and making music. There's a huge quantity of useful plug-ins.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

It's not so user friendly at the beginning, there are a lot of "hidden" features, but with time and tutorials you can manage to use it.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Use it with an external device like usb keyboards or pads.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I composed many songs and soundtracks for our webseries

  ### 17. I Use It All The Time and Love It!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

The conceptual model of how the software works is very easy to understand, making it an intuitive experience. Using loops, creating samples, recording external audio, quantizing.... most of it is pretty easy to grasp without tutorials. I really like that in the side panel you can access tutorials and explanations if you need them. Composing and recording in Ableton live is super easy and super fun.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

The only thing I consistently have trouble with is audio driver trouble shooting. I use it with a PC and have downloaded the driver AVIO(?). In addition to my Windows sound driver and the AVIO sound driver, there's yet another sound driver I have on my computer. Sometimes for no apparent reason, the drivers switch and I have to stop what I'm doing to fix the issue, sometimes exiting the program. Secondly, I wish Ableton Live were better equipped for mixing and mastering. Other than those things, it's great!

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

This product is definitely for people who think and compose visually. The sky's the limit when it comes to the sounds you can use and and create. Not only is it fun and easy to use, it's an industry standard. You can master the basics pretty easily. Errors are a bit tricky and might require some support, but the support forum and community answers almost every question very quickly and thoroughly. Enjoy!

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a musician, Ableton helps me stay in business because.... I can compose with it.

  ### 18. Powerful but hard to learn

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

It's powerful and just as capable as Logic as your main DAW.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

hard to learn! This one took me quite a while to get good at, and I found the interface relatively unintuitive.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

If you aren't using the live features on it, go with pro tools or Logic. It's tough to get started with despite it being so trendy today.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making music is the "problem". I'd say the real benefit is the integration with the APC40. If you aren't using that, go with a different solution.

  ### 19. Easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2017

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

I like how easy it is to use once you get the hang of it.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

It shuts down sometimes which pisses me off because i'm right in the middle of a beat but it keeps everything saved when you open it back up so then everything is good.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Just do it and you will succeed!

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I make music on Ableton and make my income off of beats.

  ### 20. You Don't Have to Be a DJ to make good tracks

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Its a very straightforward software to use, sleek UI, great quality and low latency. Great tutorials. Certain features like Warp Mode, and Session view are uniquely well implemented in Live.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

It's not a touch-friendly interface, so you'll either choose to put up with keyboard/mouse, or buy an outboard control module, of which there are several. It's just something to be aware of.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sweetening (compression/EQ/crop) recordings made live in rehearsals and at shows.
Creating tracks, and overdubbing within them, section by section.
Syncing MIDI and live material. Making podcasts and getting the right blend of EQ and compression with any kind of mic, is a breeze.

  ### 21. My Ableton Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Ableton live is essential for any music producer. It’s ease of use and quick syncing of Midi devices makes it unbelievably powerful.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

Ableton live is kind of bland to look at.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Use it and use it often

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I’m solving problems within my music production by trying to find new ways to get the sound I’m wanting. I realize that Ableton live has endless possibilities.

  ### 22. Great tool for live podcasting and streaming

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tomáš S. | Managing Director & Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Easy to use software with simple interface. It teached me how to work with sound.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

I still dont know if it can help me with editing recorded files.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

It is easy to use, and it does not overload your system. You can get starging version of Ableton Live Lite with few soundcards in bundle. It is great tool for easy mastering audio for your streaming. If you want to appear proffesional take a time and process your audio!

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Ableton Live for processing sound that I feed directly from my BlueSnowball microphone or from Scarlet soundcard. I can adjust level of noise, process vocals for audio and apply nice compression. Than feed it into virtual card and send into FaceTime, Skype, OBS or any other application.

  ### 23. Brilliant.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

To compositional & performance based workflow.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

Transferring projects between different versions of Live.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All song writing processes have been sped up & improved.

  ### 24. Not very easy at the beginning

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Completeness and cleanliness of the interface.
Completeness of the functions.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

It is not easy to start using Ableton if you come from other similar software.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I easily created bases and songs with a very modern sound.

  ### 25. Ableton Live is Magic

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

The sheer expanse of possibilities within this program makes it a gold standard for music production. Less of a learning curve than ProTools by miles, but still incredibly complex

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

I don't dislike anything about this program to be perfectly honest.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Expansive and malleable program for sound engineering and song composition

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The malleability of the program lets the user go pretty much anywhere musically, and provides a step up for those with little musical experience

  ### 26. The king of live

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vanesa D. | Desarrollador web, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Although it is a great support for recording, mixing, and sound post-production, Live, as its name suggests, is a marvel for working live.
One of its most incredible features is the ability to "record" the modifications we make in real-time on the audio tracks so that the same effect is automatically reproduced when the project is run again from the program.
Another great advantage of this program is how simple it is to program the triggering of plugins, sounds, effects, and/or sequences by pressing buttons on MIDI controllers, or even those on the computer's own keyboard.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

Sometimes it's difficult to solve latency issues, and when projects are heavy, they consume too much memory resources, especially with certain VSTs. The interface is not very user-friendly and could be greatly improved graphically.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

This software is highly recommended for use in the studio, although it is especially designed for live performance. It helps a lot for DJs, for example, or artists who have part of their show programmed live.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us a lot when it comes to programming live sound sequences and programming different types of effects and modulations with just the press of a button.

  ### 27. Ableton Live: A DAW at its finest.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Natalie B. | DJ, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

I love the interface of Ableton, it is easy to access and find what you are looking for as well as a search bar. I love how it connects well with plug ins and samples. I like how you can change quickly between tabs on the main interface. There are a lot of ways to edit and cut and you can make your own edits from the sounds and samples provided.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

I dislike how expensive the program is for the full version. However, I am glad that they offer a student version which is more affordable but it may not provide features that the full version has.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

I think if you are brand new to the DAW scene, there may be a learning curve at first, but once you dive in and put in the time, it seems way easier to adapt and learn compared to the other programs. If you plan on doing music production, it is way easier to produce with a controller than your mouse. However, with ableton there is a mode where you can create beats by just clicking on your mouse.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefits I have realized so far is that if you have a Soundcloud, you can connect through Ableton when finished with a song and quickly send it out on social media. I have no had problems yet. It can also can connect with Splice which offers samples, plugs ins, etc for a monthly rate but when you save files it connects through splice too and you can access that save when you login to splice from anywhere.

  ### 28. Just buy it!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

The possibilities in Ableton 10 are limited only to ones imagination. Using only native effects, instruments and MAXX for live you can create pro audio with ease.

Inuitive GUI and fairly easy to navigate. My favorite features include audio to midi and audio to midi slicing!! Can your DAW do that? deadmau5 and Skrillex are the two biggest names in EDM because of this beautiful software. So what’s stopping you?

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

Almost too many options - makes it hard to commit to one sound. Occasional crashes and glitches, but ableton support is awesome!!!

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of use and quick turn over for my jingle company. I’m able to dial up a variety of my templates and can get to making music ASAP!!

  ### 29. The live broadcast under control

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manuel G. | Desarrollo Multimedia, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Live amazes us, especially live, it is a brilliant way to control both the chains of effects and instrument processing, as well as to launch sequences, etc... It is very easy to program sequences to be launched from MIDI devices.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

We have experienced latency issues and some strange clicking when exporting the master of some recordings. The interface could be a bit more user-friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

It is a very interesting product for DJs, keyboardists, sound technicians, and any music and live performance professional who needs to launch sequences and/or effects live.

The built in plugins mostly the effects like the delays, the drum racks, and modular capabilities like Max for Live

If you want something with real power when it comes to editing audio for live performance my primary go to is ableton live!

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like to plan out how I’m going to live mix DJ sets by using the cross fader and the effects to lock in timing when transitioning between tracks while DJing at partys

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Printing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

I've been using Ableton for about 10 years. I love the interface, the different views make it perfect for simple audio editing, looping, or full on music production. I like how you can do so much with this program. You can design your own synths, use their preset sounds, tweak their preset sounds, trigger clips, and much more.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

The instrument presets are a bit meh. But, then again, that's not their focus. If I use a preset, I tweak it myself.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

I would totally recommend Ableton Live to anyone who wants to make electronic or loop based music. If you're considering using it for simple audio editing only, maybe go with another program, but if you also do music production in the electronic hemisphere, this is the best program for it. I've exclusively used Ableton Live for about 10 years.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Music production and podcast editing. Great for electronic music production, easy for simple podcast editing.

  ### 35. Best DAW available

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paulo G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Everything is incredibly intuitive. What makes it stand out, however, is its layout.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

The synths are not very usable for rockers but that's not much of a negative characteristic.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Give "Session View" a try before you go to comfortable ground, which is the traditional "Arrangement View".

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to easily and spontaneously come up with musical ideas. It's particularly useful when you've got strict deadlines to deliver jingles.

  ### 36. Ableton for live gigs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chase G. | Media Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

I love the simple yet effective layout of the arrangement view. It allows me to drop all my multi- tracks in, add time codes and time signature changes, and marker viewers for smooth seemless transitions.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

This software does have a bit of a learning curve to it. But with a little time and dedication, anyone will be able to pick it up quickly.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smooth seemless transition from song to song during a live event. Increases rehersal productivity as well.

  ### 37. Best DAW available

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Ableton Live is the most intuitive DAW you'll find. Its layout, however, is what makes it an exceptional tool for creatives.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

I'm not a big fan of some of its synths as they clearly weren't designed with rockers in mind.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Make sure to try the 'Session View' before going straight to the classic "Arrangement View". It's one of the things that makes it special.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's perfect for coming up with snippets when running against the clock.

  ### 38. Powerful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jack P. | Mechanical Design Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

The endless number of effects and features that are available and can be custom built.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

Music mixing isn't as user friendly. It takes more input than simpler software like MixMeister.

Creating music mixes for entertainment.

  ### 39. Limitless control of musical capabilities

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew B. | Sr Web Designer, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

There's virtually limitless control of musical capabilities. It works well with other programs (reason, logic, etc). It easily controls existing music tracks while also creating new ones.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

It's a complex program that takes time and training to learn. The user interface could use some improvements to prevent mistakes being made without realizing it. There's lots of buttons that can screw things up if clicked and this can happen very easily without realizing it.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our church needed a program to run background tracks during worship sets and this program can control each instrument independently.

  ### 40. Ableton Live as a Audio and Midi Solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter G. | Production Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Ableton Live is a powerful DAW capable of simultaneously running various audio and MIDI tracks. We use it for metronome and verbal song cues, as well as prerecorded tracks, loops, and other samples, midi messages to advance slides at the correct point in the song, change preprogrammed lighting cues, among other things.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

The inherent complexity of a DAW can lend itself to some user unfriendliness.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Properly implemented, Ableton Live is a powerful tool you can use to consolidate many functions to one spot, as well as extend control and synchronization to other devices. Or you can use it to make fun beats. That's cool too.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ableton has the capability to interface with a massive amount of hardware for a near limitless I/O capability. We're combining the roles of several outboard equipment pieces into one piece of software.

  ### 41. Awesome But Advanced Program

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

There is so much you can do with this program. It's a great way to explore your musical ideas. There are sound packs to get you started, but you can also use your own samples.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

This program can crash sometimes, even on good computers. It's also expensive. As well, it takes a while for some people to learn. You may never fully master this program because there are so many features.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

It's fairly difficult for many people to learn on their own. It's recommended to learn from someone else or have them nearby for troubleshooting. As always, save frequently.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ableton can be used for soundtracks and other music.

  ### 42. Beats All Production Software

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Practice without instruments first.

Problems with efficiency and turnover of projects for clients. Benefits are smoother workflow.

  ### 43. Ableton Live is the best companion for running live tracks within a performance.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph V. | Worship Pastor, Religious Institutions, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2017

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Ableton gives you so many options on how to utilize it for live performance, from Key changes to the ability to change the Beats per minute in the arrangement of a song. It gives you a choice to use "Session View" for a less cluttery look or a more classic DAW style with" arrangement view". Ableton has no right or wrong way to use it. It's completely customizable to your preference!

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

There is a Learning curb to understanding how to get things going. Other than that this is one of the most amazing tools for live music I have used.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Ableton Live is not JUST a live performance playback interface. It is a full-blown Digital Audio Workstation that comes with its own editing suite. You can use midi controllers to trigger ANYTHING you program it to. Let me once again stress that it can replace an unavailable live musician with prerecorded studio tracks. What else could you ask for?

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a Worship Pastor and when I need a full band to lead worship with me for our Church Worship service, I don't always have all the musicians I need. That is where Ableton Live comes in and rescues the day. It has multi-output capabilities, giving my Sound technician the ability to control Individual instruments from Ableton Live and through the soundboard. It also fully integrates with our presentation software, giving you the ability to control the presentation software through Ableton to sync up the lyrics from the song performance and onto the projector.

  ### 44. The Best Change Over I Made

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

As an amateur musician, I have found ableton live really played into my knowledge of software. Ableton's online support, with in depth 'How-To' videos, and extremely helpful online articles, I picked up the software in no time. Each sound runs like chops and hits, so it's very easy to understand. Recording straight into Ableton Live is also possible, which can really spice up your live set.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

It is a bit of a learning curve to start off with. I found it difficult to get my head around it, however with Ableton's online support, I was completely up to speed within a week (which even surprised me!)

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Take the time to sit down and learn the programme. Ableton have given you all the tools, it's just a matter of taking the time to use them!

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to record directly into ableton, which has eliminated my need for the use of other DAWs which I find frustrating.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucas B. | Lube Technician, Automotive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2018

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

it has the capability to produce any type of electronic music you could come up with. it is impressive at track-based recording for solo artists. with this software you are able to queue up and play music as you see it which is why it is called live, but it is an advantage this software has over other competitors. there is a plethora of instruments and music effects to use, which makes it easy to create a unique sound. once you get the hang of the software the ease of use improves greatly and the ability to create music goes very fast and efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

the price can be expensive for most average, new users. it is not very well capable for recording multiple musicians at one time. the learning curve is steep, it takes a lot of time to learn all of the features that ableton offers and in order to perfect these features you need to spend a lot of time learning how to work the software.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Lots of help from youtube videos and other users on forums helped the learning curve. It can be a tricky software at first but the capabilities are vast.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps in recording and selling my music. i've realized that the benefits to ableton are capability to produce music in ways i could not do with other music programs. it is a professional program, which makes its credibility very impressive and many other amateur to professional DJ's use this software.

  ### 48. Great Recording Software

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Ableton Live to record and send out tracks to team members. I also use it to write and record new songs for both my vocation and personal use.

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

enhanced production

  ### 50. From First Steps to Finalization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2017

**What do you like best about Ableton Live?**

Ableton Live 9.5 is an excellent DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). The layout is intuitive and not overwhelming. The program opens up with built-in tutorials and has a useful "Help View". You can follow the lessons and learn the different aspects of the "Session View" and "Arrangement View".

**What do you dislike about Ableton Live?**

In this version of Live, I found the GUI to be a little boring. The Playhead also stops when you click on anything during playback. I understand that these two things are improved upon in the 10 Release.

**Recommendations to others considering Ableton Live:**

Read the manual and enjoy the cheekiness!

**What problems is Ableton Live solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to correct audio timing quickly and can edit to video in this DAW.
