"Clear Budget Visibility, a big improvement over spreadsheets"
5/5
What do you like best about Abacum?

I like that Abacum isn’t Excel and that everything stays up to date. It makes it easy for me to understand the full budget for the rest of the year and see my department’s actual costs, line by line. It’s easier for finance to create and send me a budget, and I can create dashboards, export numbers, and share them. The dashboards give everyone a shared view of the company’s financial reality, so marketing, sales, customer success, and leadership are looking at the same numbers. It’s very easy to use, and once it’s set up, it works well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Abacum?

It's more difficult for me as an individual user to create dashboards and reports for myself, so an admin has to do that for me. The initial setup was moderately easy, but it required a lot of setup time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Quick, Easy Navigation with Room to Improve Data Insights"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Abacum?

I like that Abacum is quick, easy to access, and easy to navigate. It gives us access to old and new information, so we can manage our financials better. I also think it looks really good, and viewing it was good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Abacum?

When I click on a field, I’d like the details to be clearer, though I’m not sure if that’s Abacum or the data we feed in. I’d also like to adjust the presentation, like the size and font, because on smaller screens it’s hard to see the numbers. More analysis and graphics would help me read the data more quickly and clearly, and it would be easier to view data by month, quarter, or year. It would also be good to have the data in an Excel file so I can sort it out if we have problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent, Intuitive UI with Fast Builds and Modern Integrations"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Abacum?

The UI is excellent—intuitive, clear, and easy to understand. It's also fast and fairly easy to build in.

Integrations work well, and they have a modern approach to data and ETL Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Abacum?

Abacum is a fairly small company, and so their professional services support is limited/constrained. There are also few partners who can help support the implementation.

If I were to redo the implementation I would consider having a 3rd party to drive it, but it needs to be someone who both understands the customer well and has a full 360 grasp of the platform and what it can do Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful consolidation tool that handles our complex multi-entity setup with ease"
5/5
What do you like best about Abacum?

We implemented Abacum for financial and business intelligence reporting, consolidating multiple data sources into a single dashboard. Our use case was particularly complex. Abacum handled this complexity with ease.

The ROI was nearly immediate. We significantly reduced our close time, and within minutes of closing the books, we publish customized reports for stakeholders at every level of the organization — without them needing to come back to finance for additional cuts of the data.

The platform surfaced data inconsistencies we hadn't caught before, which our Abacum implementation team helped us resolve, ensuring more accurate reporting going forward.

There was a learning curve, but the implementation team was excellent. Over roughly eight weeks, they helped us get fully comfortable building models and spaces on our own. By the time implementation wrapped, we were completely self-sufficient. That level of support made a real difference. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexible System with a Helpful Integrated AI"
4/5
What do you like best about Abacum?

I really like the system’s flexibility, and the integrated AI is a nice addition as well. That said, it still feels like the AI could use some further improvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Abacum?

Performance has seemed like an ongoing issue for quite a while now. I suspect it’s an unfortunate side effect of trying to run an entire financial system in the browser. When we started, we didn’t receive any onboarding, and the pricing also feels really high for this type of system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Modeling, but a Steep Learning Curve and Fragile Dependencies"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Abacum?

Abacum makes information easy to explore, share, and act on. I like that it’s easy to set up models and spaces. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but once I get the hang of it, I can do a lot of powerful things. Designing the right models also makes it easy to present key business variables. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Abacum?

I find Abacum has a steep learning curve, so I really need to understand what I’m doing. Everything is connected, and changing something in one place may break something elsewhere. Error handling is not great, and the available syntax for forecast versions is way too limited. The AI can only read exact data in my tables and can’t go into transaction details, so its functionality is limited. We also made some shortcuts that I now regret because they’re very hard to fix once the business is running on the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexible, Driver-Based Forecasting - But Performance and Reporting Need More Polish"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Abacum?

Abacum is flexible enough to model the way our business actually works. We’re a payments company, so our forecast is driven by TPV, take rates in bps and client-level drivers, and we can build that logic directly in the tool instead of forcing it into a generic template. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Abacum?

With a client-level model, things can get heavy - calculations and loading slow down as the number of clients and drivers grows, so we have to think about structure more than I’d like. I’d also like more flexibility in reporting and formatting, as we often export to Excel or Slides to get outputs ready for management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient Financial Planning with Excellent Support"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Abacum?

My favourite aspect about Abacum is that it’s really easy to get up and running so quickly on it. During the onboarding cycle, we received really great training and support from the team. They specifically looked at various use cases for our business and helped problem solve efficient ways to really get us to where we needed to be. Abacum Academy training is also very helpful for creating power users in our organization and enabling us to use Abacum to its full capabilities. It’s really helpful for new individuals on our team to have structured training on Abacum, so that when they come in, they understand the syntax and how the formulas need to be built to create most efficient models. It is also really helpful for creating various scenarios to achieve scenarios for different users, which are all controlled by user permissions. The Abacum Admin MCP is very helpful for analysis in Claude and helps us document changes and results to various stakeholders. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Abacum?

Some of our struggles involved time out limits for integrations, making it a bit difficult for us to keep importing various datasets. But we have worked with the Abacum team to find resolutions around this, and they have been really supportive to our feedback to keep making improvements to the platform. There are also some various workarounds currently for formulas that need to change in different months, but there have been significant improvements released by the team reacting to our feedback. Over time, our team has also learned Abacum best practice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Solid, Customizable UI with Key Metrics and Smooth Platform Data Integration"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Abacum?

It's got a solid UI, seems pretty customizable and allows for us to get the key metrics we need depending on function. It's been a huge improvement over our previous way of doing things and seems to be able to integrate well with our platform data. The AI features are making a lot of progress but are still fairly rudimentary. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Abacum?

AI features need some work. Some of the UI can seem a bit clunky, but I've already seen it improve month over month so I expect it to get better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great UI/UX, Helpful Support, and Smooth NetSuite Integration"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Abacum?

The UI/UX is quite good, and the support has been solid as well. The team has been very helpful, especially when it comes to tailoring the pricing to our needs. We’ve also completed integrations with NetSuite, and the process was pretty smooth overall. I haven’t had a chance to test the AI features yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Abacum?

Some of the small features in the visualization can be tricky to solve and few are yet to be developed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
