**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

What I like the most is the easy of develpment, versioning and lifecycle.
A platform that is easy to bring new developers and expand the community.

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

I dislike a lot the direction OutSystems Platform is going where more and more the platform is closing down.

For me this is a very concerning thing since to fully support live critical applications, we need to be fully in control and be able to do proper throubleshooting. The lack of access to the environment, database and hotfix procedure can make a small issue currently blocking the business a very time consuming task.

One thing that I also dislike is the way developers create unit tests, this should be something integrated in the platform.

Making this part of the platform it could easily integrate deployment cycles since this is a critical part for a proper CICD.

**What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rebuilding an entire ERP system to replace a legacy system which is supporting our Terminals all arround the world.

Going from creating contracts with our customs with many complex scenarios, creation or orders, execution of those orders with the help of devices like tablets, integrations with sensors like temperature systems, weigh bridges, etc. Rebuidling an entire invoicing system, rebuidling a CRM system, a Customs system, etc.

**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

What I like about OutSystems is the visual interface. I don’t have to dig through hundreds of lines of code just to track down a single bug, and I don’t need to write thousands of lines to put together simple logic or even a basic component. Depending on what I’m trying to build, I can drag and drop UI components for speed, or customize them with custom code when I need more control. Also the platform simplifies integrating with external systems whether an application needs to consume a modern REST API or SOAP or other major enterprise systems. Unlike basic low-code form builders, Outsystems compiles visual maps down into optimized standard .NET/C# code which provides tremendous performance. The financial return on investment is immediate regarding time-to-market. Projects that take months in standard code are delivered in weeks. It cuts down technical debt and significantly reduces long term maintenance cost. Outsystems is at forefront of the shift towards agentic AI. With Outsystems Mentor, developers can generate functional UI, logic and schemas using natural language prompts.

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

Outsystems is an enterprise-tier tool with a premium price tag. Even the entry-level pricing is steep, which makes it largely inaccessible for small startups, independent developers, and small businesses. Licensing costs scale based on the number of end users or the complexity of the application objects, where screens, entities, and REST API methods are each counted as an AO. Because pricing is tied to users, applications with millions of anonymous users or low-revenue users should not consider Outsystems.

**What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Outsystems directly targets the operational and structural bottlenecks that traditionally slow down corporate IT departments. With traditional development, teams often spend a lot of time writing boilerplate code, setting up infrastructure, and manually configuring databases, which can mean enterprise applications take months or even years to launch. In contrast, Outsystems’ visual, model-driven development abstracts away much of the syntax. The features such as drag-and-drop workflow engines, BPT, and the latest Outsystems Mentor help companies deliver secure, full-stack applications faster.

**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

One of the most noticeable improvements recently is the stronger focus on AI-powered development. Features that support automation and intelligent workflows make it easier to build smarter applications with less effort. Along with this, the mobile development experience has improved with a more modern runtime and better-performing UI components, making apps feel smoother and more native.

Another thing I like is the increased flexibility in workflows and UI customization. The platform now feels more mature with better support for reusable logic, improved integrations, and stronger governance and security features. Overall, these updates help speed up development while still giving enough control to handle more complex enterprise use cases

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

There are still a few areas where OutSystems can improve. The biggest one is pricing and licensing transparency—costs can be quite high and sometimes confusing, especially as applications scale or for smaller teams. Many users also feel that while the platform is powerful, it can become complex to manage for larger or more customized applications.

Another area for improvement is flexibility and customization. Since it’s a proprietary platform, there can be limitations when building highly specific or niche solutions, and some integrations with external or specialized tools can be challenging. The AI features they have been introducing these last months have given a complete revamp to the image the platform has. They introduce a new world of posibilities and change the paradigm: Outsystems is not an AI competitor, but an AI companion and accelerator.

For sure they can improve their training paths (the technology would greatly benefit from having more experts on it) and their overall communication about upcoming features, specially in such an uncertainous season we are living in

Right now, Outsystems allows us to mitigate a big gap that exists in our company: The adaptability to new requirements in a business-demanding way. It is common for our businesses to have to adapt to new requirements due to changes in the environment, regulations or market environments, and therefore they need a sufficiently flexible solution that favours time-to-market.

I never imagined myself working on IT until I came a cross outsystems, because it allows you too focus on pure business Logic.

One area for improvement is the merge process, which can become complex when multiple developers work on the same components, making conflict resolution more difficult than in traditional development environments, branching would be good

**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

OutSystems enables quick application development and comes as an all-in-one bundle for deployment, with CI/CD and internal security built in. It’s easy to use and easy to get used to. I have 4 years of professional experience with it, and it’s something I naturally think about when I’m coding. Implementing logic feels straightforward, and REST integrations are simple to set up and pick up. I’ve also had quick replies from OutSystems itself when I needed support. I use OutSystems daily in my life.

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

Sometimes an infinite loop can slip by unnoticed, and it can take a while to track down and fix. Also, the market itself is still fairly niche and not very widespread (yet), which can be a concern in this day of AI.

It covers whatever my clients need, whether that’s a trading portal, visualisation of fairly complex data, a contract management tool, or a highly customised survey mobile app with offline sync.

**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

I like that OutSystems makes it easier to create appealing UIs without complex coding, especially compared to plain ASP.NET or React. The deployment through a DTAP process with Lifetime is extremely easy and useful. I also appreciate the ability to retrieve data easily through aggregates and use advanced SQL when needed. The capability to create extensions to integrate with external environments is very beneficial. My experience with technical support is positive, with fast responses and quick solutions or workarounds. Integration with the outside environment, especially using REST services and connecting to Workday via SOAP, is well supported, with perfect help from support to convert WSDL files for Service Studio import. The initial setup was very easy, taking just a couple of days.

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

What I miss is conditional breakpoints which are standard in Microsoft Visual Studio for over 20 years.

What I value most about OutSystems is how quickly it can take you from concept to a production-grade application without sacrificing architectural control. In real delivery projects, the visual development model compresses what would normally be weeks of boilerplate—data models, CRUD logic, and screen scaffolding—into hours, which frees the team to focus on the business logic and the edge cases that actually matter.

The platform’s push into agentic and AI-assisted development is where it becomes genuinely compelling. Being able to delegate scaffolding, pattern generation, and repetitive integration work to AI agents inside the IDE meaningfully shortens the development lifecycle. Just as importantly, those agents operate within the guardrails of governed platform components, rather than generating free-form code that you then have to audit line by line. That balance of autonomy with enforced consistency is difficult to achieve with a traditional coding stack.

Finally, the built-in lifecycle management—environments, dependency tracking, and one-click deployment—helps those speed gains hold up at scale, instead of turning into technical debt once a project grows beyond the prototype stage.

The proprietary model does imply a degree of platform commitment—reusing logic outside OutSystems isn’t always straightforward. In practice, though, this is manageable if you keep core business logic in clearly defined service layers and expose functionality through APIs. That approach keeps the architecture portable and makes the dependency a deliberate choice rather than an accident.

Licensing can also become a meaningful line item as you scale. The best way I’ve found to handle this is to be intentional about which applications truly belong on the platform—high-change, high-value apps—and to govern environment and user allocation so you’re paying for what genuinely benefits from low-code speed.

At times, highly customized requirements can stretch the visual paradigm. The platform’s extensibility (custom code, external libraries, forge components) addresses most of these cases well, and treating those extension points as a standard part of the toolkit—not merely a fallback—removes much of the friction.

On the agentic and AI tooling side, the direction looks promising and it’s improving quickly. It’s currently strongest for scaffolding and repetitive work; pairing it with clear human review for architecturally sensitive tasks lets you capture productivity gains now while the autonomy continues to mature.

The core problem it addresses is the gap between business demand for software and the capacity to deliver it. Backlogs of internal applications, portals, and process tools often grow faster than traditional development teams can clear them. OutSystems helps close that gap by enabling small teams to ship production applications in a fraction of the usual time.

A recurring use case is modernizing large legacy systems. For example, on a large enterprise platform built on thousands of legacy Java classes, the visual model and built-in integration layer made it possible to expose existing functionality through modern interfaces and retire older components incrementally. That turned what would have been a multi-year rewrite into a series of manageable, lower-risk steps.

It also fits well in regulated, process-heavy environments. In a financial services context with strict governance and auditability requirements, centralized lifecycle management, controlled environments, and dependency tracking provided the traceability the setting demanded while still allowing the team to move quickly—two things that are usually in tension. I use OutSystems as a developer to create web applications for our clients, and I really appreciate how straightforward it is. The platform makes it easy to develop quickly and efficiently, allowing us to produce good-looking front ends with solid workflow logic that we can promptly ship to our clients. I like that OutSystems doesn't require much boilerplate setup since it provides default code and themes that can be overridden when needed, which means you're never forced into one set standard. Additionally, the ease of setup was impressive.

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

The one major thing I would like is a form of branching. The one click publish is good, however, when working with bigger teams this can get clunky. Having a bit more granularity of version control would help in this regard. Maybe an option to create your own version or branch of the application which you can merge to a main branch once the code is complete.

I like how it enables me to be both creative and build whole new solutions while still remaining "one toe deep" into the business side of things. For me the low code platform merges a BA role with a developer role in a way that challenges me technically while still remaining part of the analysis pipeline as well. I would not want to only write code but also refine processes, something I went to college for. This tool allows for the perfect equilibrium.

Moreover what I love is the ease of integrating different programs/third party apps and how easy it is to do. Stuff like API integrations become a cakewalk with OutSystems and it really helps that API REST is currently the most used way to integrate external data into applications

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

Sometimes it feels like when something isn't natively supported, it need custom code and that can be quite clunky. Especially when there is not a third party tool with API integration some solutions can feel very unrefined but you have no other choice because there is no native support for it.

**What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me it helps me create business applications with speed and ease and without having a formal high code education. It also enables me to still do the analysis bit of processes because the OutSystems role is more a mixture between dev and analist rather than pure dev. I did my internship in an OutSystems project and I realized the potential it could have for me as I developed my career in it

**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

I love the implementation speed of OutSystems. When we first presented the built-in platform tools to the customer, they were really astonished by the out-of-the-box monitoring capabilities. These tools allow us to create dashboards, filter data, and track user movements, offering amazing insights. I find the cloud-hosted environment of OutSystems great because it does most of the heavy lifting and simplifies the setup process. The platform's ability to keep up with AI advancements and not lag behind in developments is impressive too.

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

The bottleneck for us is in the database. Performance is impacted when lots of concurrent users are trying to query heavy tables or when we have to write stuff in real time. We do optimization sessions on our SQL queries, aggregates, and caching of the data, which improves things, but the downside for us personally might be the database part.

**What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I appreciate OutSystems for its fast implementation speed and built-in monitoring tools, offering real-time alerts and in-depth insights. **What do you like best about OutSystems?**

I use OutSystems to deliver applications that our clients can use to track their processes. I appreciate that it handles all the technicalities of integrations to external systems and provides easy flow visualization. I like that the platform is understandable for people like me who don’t have deep informatics or programming knowledge. We use OutSystems 11, and I find Mentor Studio great, and the interface in Service Studio is pretty good. The initial setup was very easy, and OutSystems colleagues were very responsive and helpful throughout the process.

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

Dependencies for deployment is always a topic and merge conflicts when publishing when 2 or more developers work at the same time on the same app. It would be great if it could better and faster recognize what parts I worked on compared with other users and automatically merge them.

I like OutSystems for its user interface and integration aspects, which best suit all our business processing needs. I've worked with many workflow tools, but this one seems to be the best fit. The reusable block feature is particularly valuable as it can be used more generically across multiple applications or within the same application. Additionally, I found it very easy to set up, which made onboarding quite straightforward.

I don't like the deployment process. Sometimes if there is a generic application, it needs a separate deployment plan, but the dependent applications also expect to be deployed together due to changes in existing blocks or components. This needs to change. Also, I have to open the dependent module separately while refreshing the dependency, which should be improved.

The Data Fabric is what finally won me over - as opposed to having to migrate data out of your CRM or other API’s or Legacy Databases, you simply create a virtualized representation of all of the data types you want to work with and then use SQL to query it as if the data were already merged together - sounds too good to be true but it generally works. Development Speed - Yes It Is Real - The amount of boilerplate code and compile times have been removed and you simply login and begin developing and something functional appears quickly.

The UI Components are the weak link and it is really a major issue if your company has strict Brand Guidelines - you can create something functional quickly, but creating it to look “exactly” like the application you would have created using a real Web Framework is really painful and takes a lot of time. Petty One - In Expression Rules, the Input Parameter Boxes Are Tiny And You Can’t Resize Them Which Is Just Annoying Daily Inconvenience For Developers.

Honestly I love that I can stop writing boilerplate code all day. Dragging and dropping my logic is so much quicker than typing it in and at least for now I'm tired as hell. The automation features also make it easy to get rid of those boring manual data entry tasks and I'm happy with how active the community is as I have relied on the forum when the documentation does not make sense.

Making the UI feel custom is really difficult. It feels outdated compared to other modern web frameworks and our marketers always complain that it doesn't exactly match the brand image. The licensing cost is pretty high for what it does and also I find that debugging can be frustrating when the error message is vague.

Honestly I've been using this since the screen was orange on a Mac Plus back in 1979 or something. The flexibility of the software has allowed me to be able to add fields to a live database (without kicking users off) and I thought that would crash everything. Instead I could create an entire ERP system without a team of developers and I assume it won't disappear tomorrow since it's supported by Apple.

It seems like they change their licensing model each year and I find it annoying to keep up with. In addition to everything mentioned before I also do not understand why there is no Android app available and I also find it difficult to make responsive designs in order to work on the web and I feel like the way it works is very clumsy and my back also hurts. Furthermore, the anonymous submission form we have has some issues as well.

We previously were dealing with "excel hell" (as you probably know). the tool is very specific to software development, which is good it handles front end and back end but if there were some functionalities for data science and applied science people the tool will go way beyond. you can unlock a different ecosystem with these functionalities. also agents are not data science they are functional models wrapped on top of a language model.
also I didn't like the 662 training story. the training was perfect many things to learn but the interaction between the cartoon developer and the manager was not good and some would even say it crosses lines for work place working.

The last time I've dabbled in coding was in college in early 2010's, and that was just basic C++.

With OutSystems, there's no pressure in knowing everything- they made coding simpler, easier, and more fun. With simple actions like drag and drop, you can create a web application with just about anything that you can imagine.

And they've made it easier (as if it wasn't as straightforward as before), but they've also integrated AI technology to help in development. With just a few prompts, the AI can help me create a system- point out where I got it wrong, how can I optimize it to be up to standards, and make it better.

But the best thing about OutSystems is the community. Forge components have been essential in helping further enhanced our web applications, and the community is very open and welcoming to newbies- giving insights from their experiences which is of great help to see if others have encountered the same things we have.

I don't think I have anything that I dislike about OutSystems so far.

The Supreme Court of the Philippines is currently transitioning in digitizing all of our legacy systems- and OutSystems has helped us a lot in this initiative. As of writing, we've already deployed to production a few applications that are being used as internal applications, and some with public facing capabilities that are being used by people nationwide.

Say for example our leave applications. Before we had to physically print and have them signed. But with the application developed in OutSystems, we're able to send our leave applications anywhere, without the need to physically submit a form. Requesting documents is also made easier, and checking of leave credits more accessible- with just a few clicks, we're able to do a lot more.

The fact they use their own terminology for common development features (Entities for example). This is quite a minor complaint of course.

I do find the occasional bug every now and then (In O11) but nothing major or application breaking. 

Sometimes you are limited to the platform of course, so when I would want to do a certain thing I have to comply by its rules or bend/break them.

The integration with new gen Agentic solutions is fantastic, and having governance for agents is a big plus. The speed of development is just incredible, and importantly, I never feel like I'm losing control. It's not like dealing with a black box; it integrates with whatever we need. Also, the learning curve was really easy and fast. Our architects were fully trained in OutSystems in less than three months, which is great.

What stands out most about OutSystems is its ability to help organizations accelerate digital transformation while maintaining enterprise-grade quality and governance. From my perspective, the platform combines innovation, speed, and scalability in a way that appeals to both business and IT stakeholders. I am also impressed by the strength of the OutSystems community, partner ecosystem, and the company’s continuous investment in AI-driven development capabilities.

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

As with many enterprise platforms, organizations need the right skills, governance, and adoption strategy to realize the full value of OutSystems. New users may face a learning curve when scaling applications across larger environments. Additionally, licensing and platform investment can be a consideration for smaller organizations, although the value proposition is often strong for companies with significant application development needs.

**What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OutSystems helps organizations reduce the time and complexity associated with traditional application development. It enables teams to respond faster to changing business requirements, modernize legacy processes, and deliver digital solutions more efficiently. From a business perspective, this translates into faster innovation, improved collaboration between business and IT, and quicker realization of value from digital initiatives.

**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

It’s a very smart application that feels like it’s thinking along with you, and it’s easy to use. It helps me create reusable modules, and implementing new features is very straightforward. Using REST APIs in Service Studio is also really easy, which is super nice. Especially now with Mentor, you can create screens you can show clients as a POC during sales so they can get a feel of what kind of business solution u want to make for them

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

Sometimes I feel like the documentation isn’t very extensive. Searching through the community can help at times, but it’s not quite like other coding platforms.

**What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Outsystems is helping us create low-code solutions for business-specific processes. This makes it easier for us to work on applications that integrate with SAP or other ERP systems. We can build applications and apps for companies based on what they want to see and what works best for their business.

**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

I find OutSystems to be very good in terms of developing concepts and proofs of concept in record time, which helps speed up the development and improvement of existing or new applications. It's very helpful because you don't have to worry too much about security aspects, and it allows you to quickly identify areas in the application development that need improvement or alignment with current standards. Also, the initial setup process of OutSystems was very fluid and non-intrusive, making steps from one to four very easy.

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

What I see could be improved is how the application actually receives commands in terms of the type of application that you want developed. So if you give it a description in terms of the application that you want as a foundation, that part of the request-to-receiving process can be greatly improved.

**What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use OutSystems for logistics and tracking, and it speeds up app development, ensuring quick POC creation and security. Also, it highlights areas needing improvement to align with development standards.

**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

As a tester the speed of development is a aspect key for our work. If a developer is able to produce testable software quickly then we become effective. The ability of OutSystems to produce working stable software is great. 

The ease of navigation, deployment and implementation allow me to perform my job faster and have great confidence in what I am testing is correct. No longer do I have to test all the edge feature that you have when testing a high code application.

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

I find the design and layout of OutSystems feature can be a bit common. The developers tend use the same design and layout for all software projects. As a tester that is a little dull, but also part and parcel of the the software being quick to create. 

Automation hooks and naming conventions could be easier to define to allow our automation solutions to find buttons, fields and other aspects of the page more easily.

**What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work for a consultancy selling product solutions. We utilise OutSystems for a large number of different applications for a wide range of companies. OutSystems allow us to sell expertise in a single Low Code application, gather great skilled employees and solve other companies problems.

**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

To put it simply: I love OutSystems because of its robustness. There's very few things that require a lot of workarounds. It delivers what I need when I need. And it's sooooo simple to use (language abstraction rules)

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

The only thing that comes to mind is really the occasional workarounds needed for very specific tasks.

**What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I guess I can't mention a problem if there isn't one, right?
I develop web and mobile apps for a living and just by being able to code once, reuse it for all platforms and not break a sweat thinking about configurations is already worth everything. All, of course, all this while being super fast and agile.

**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

Very fast and easy to build demos for our costumers. UI is easy to understand and the Mentor feature is a great help, especially for beginners. The available training and JumpStart sessions are an amazing way to enable our consultants to build knowledge fast.

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

The platform and studio interfaces are only available in English. This is often a deterrent for our German-speaking customers when they want to use the platform themselves. The same issue applies to the trainings, which are also only offered in English.

**What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Enabling our customers to start their AI journey in a fast and easy way, while also providing the stability and safety that is necessary in our markets.

**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

I like using OutSystems for developing solutions and applications because it saves me time and money while being easily accessible. I appreciate the newest forge components and AI that enhance my experience. I particularly find the dbCleaner useful for cleaning the database and making my environment faster. Using ready-made components from the trusted forge saves time. The initial setup was easy, and despite other team movements toward Mendix, I still find strong value in OutSystems, which is why I'd rate it a 10 out of 10.

OutSystems saves me time and money, and offers easy access. It helps clean my environment to become faster and using trusted forge components saves time.

**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

I find OutSystems' customer service amazing. They are very good to work with, being very kind, responsive, and always quickly resolving any issues. It's impressive that they waste no time getting the right people involved to solve issues quickly and develop what we need rapidly. They are extremely fast with issue resolution, and any time a problem pops up, they escalate and solve it faster than any other vendor. I also appreciate that with the support from OutSystems' professional services team, even a complex setup process went smoothly. It's great that OutSystems provides automated onboarding, which shortens the manual work required and decreases the time to onboard an account, accelerating speed to revenue.

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

There is nothing I dislike about OutSystems other than I wish I had them soner.

I like the agility that OutSystems provides, especially in how it allows me to quickly change or adapt applications in collaboration with the business. The visual development aspect of OutSystems is great, as everything is visual, which really helps in creating prototypes that can be shared with our business. I also appreciate its future proofness, particularly how OutSystems responds to new market initiatives, which is super because we don't have to wait a year for something new. The initial setup was very straightforward, and after using it for 16 years, I'm very pleased with the progress of the platform. Overall, I find the platform very valuable and would highly recommend it to others.

**What do you like best about OutSystems?**

I like how with OutSystems, I only need to focus on the logic, and it handles all the platform management, connections, scaling up, quicker deployments, and optimization. The flowchart-type logic is something I really appreciate; it's pictorial and makes understanding easier. Also, Service Studio was always easy to set up and use.

**What do you dislike about OutSystems?**

There could be a smarter one-click way to refresh the dependencies. It's too slow in this AI world and something that could be automated.

With OutSystems, I need to focus only on the logic, and it takes care of all the platform, connections, scaling up, quicker deployments, and optimization. The flowchart-type logic is pictorial and easier to understand.
