What I like most about Nextcloud is the freedom and control it provides. It really feels like it works for me, not the other way around. My favorite aspect is knowing that my data is mine, and I can decide where it is stored, who can access it, and how. This was a huge change for me after using bigger cloud platforms. There's a sense of trust and peace with this. I also like how flexible Nextcloud is. Over time, I didn't just use it for storage; I used it for contacts, file sharing, and collaboration. I appreciate how reliable it is day to day. Once it's set up, it just runs simply. Additionally, I like the community and the open-source spirit behind Nextcloud. The main challenge is the initial setup, especially for new users, as it can be a bit technical if you don't have experience with Linux or similar systems. Also, performance on weaker servers isn't great, with certain features like file preview and live document editing feeling slow. While once properly configured, it's fine, performance heavily depends on having a powerful PC. The interface could be more polished in some areas. Also, some apps in Nextcloud are not uniformly updated or well-documented; some are excellent, while others need more work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
