## LibreOffice Reviews
  ### 1. Powerful, Cost-Free Office Suite with Great Microsoft Office Compatibility

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** VINAY P. | Mechanical Design Engineer, Design, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2026

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

What I like most about LibreOffice is that it provides a complete office productivity suite without licensing costs while still offering the functionality needed for professional work. In my role, I regularly create technical documents, spreadsheets, reports, presentations, and project-related documentation, and LibreOffice covers these requirements effectively.

I use Writer for documentation, Calc for project tracking and data analysis, and Impress for presentations. Calc is particularly useful because it handles large datasets efficiently and includes advanced functions that support reporting and calculations. I also appreciate the compatibility with Microsoft Office file formats, which makes collaboration with clients and colleagues much easier.

Another advantage is that the interface remains consistent across updates, reducing the need to relearn workflows. The ability to export files directly to PDF and work offline without subscription requirements provides excellent value and improves overall productivity.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

I have occasionally experienced minor formatting differences when exchanging complex documents with Microsoft Office users. Real-time collaboration capabilities could also be improved, especially for teams working simultaneously on shared documents. Enhanced cloud integration and a more modern visual design would further strengthen the platform.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using LibreOffice, accessing a complete office suite often required purchasing expensive licenses or maintaining recurring subscriptions. This increased software costs, especially for users who primarily needed document creation, spreadsheets, and presentations.

LibreOffice solves this by providing a fully functional office suite at no cost while maintaining compatibility with widely used file formats. Instead of investing in additional software licenses, I can create reports, manage spreadsheets, prepare presentations, and share documents using a single platform.

As a result, software expenses are reduced, document management remains efficient, and productivity is maintained without sacrificing essential functionality. For daily engineering documentation and project-related tasks, it provides a dependable and cost-effective solution.

  ### 2. Powerful, Flexible Spreadsheet Work Without a Paid License

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gustavo Alejandro T. | Sr. Customer Support Specialist, Telecommunications, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

I like Calc a lot, it’s powerful enough for most spreadsheet work, handles large files well, and gives me flexibility without needing a paid license.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

The interface can feel a bit dated compared with newer office suites. It’s functional and powerful, but not always as polished or intuitive as some alternatives.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solves the problem of needing office software for personal projects without having to pay for expensive software or a subscription. I use it for things like documents and spreadsheets, and it gives me the tools I need without a big cost.

  ### 3. Fast, Functional, and Refreshingly Simple Interface

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Liam S. | Senior Security Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2026

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

It is fast and offers a lot of functionality. It has less fluff like ribbons and instead has a simple to use interface. The help functionality and documentation is pretty good for figuring out how to do new things.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

LibreOffice Calc lags a bit behind Microsoft Excel but the gap has become increasing small when it comes to functionality that actually matters.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly spreadsheets for budgets and work processing for writing.

  ### 4. Cost-Effective Alternative with Classic Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron M. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

I like how LibreOffice's interface is more like the classic office interfaces and doesn't keep changing, while still offering the exact same quality as expensive office suites. It solves having to pay a huge fee for more expensive office suites, performing the same functions. The initial setup was very easy for me.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

Nothing really, just the odd minor bugs

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LibreOffice saves me from paying huge fees for expensive office suites while performing the same functions. I switched due to pricing and the new menu ribbons in Microsoft Office.

  ### 5. License-Free Document Creation Is a Major Advantage

  ### 6. Great Free Alternative to Word, Impressive Ease of Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alessandro Sghedoni S.

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2025

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

I find LibreOffice to be an indispensably essential tool, providing an outstanding free alternative to Microsoft Word. In the five years that I've been using it, I've transitioned across three different computers, and LibreOffice has consistently been the first application I install. I love how easy it is to begin working on documents; you simply launch the app, create a new document, and start writing without any hassle. LibreOffice's free cost is a significant advantage, especially since it offers the same functionalities as Microsoft Word. The seamless ability to export text files directly into .docx and .pdf formats from within the application, without relying on external software, is incredibly convenient. I also appreciate the table creation feature and the availability of ready-made document templates, likely crafted by skilled designers, that help streamline my work. Additionally, its all-in-one suite nature means I don't need to rely on any other software for my document needs. LibreOffice remains one of the best PC applications I've ever used, meriting a perfect recommendation rating from me.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

I would update the user interface to be a bit more 'rounded', similar to Word, by incorporating some animations to enhance the overall aesthetic. Additionally, implementing a cloud storage option potentially based on TeraBox would be beneficial.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

n/a

And the fact that its free and opensource.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

Slow, its much slower compared to MS office. and you lose formatting sometimes if you open in libre and then ms office.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a small organization and sometimes a user only needs to read an ms office file , with open offfice they can open and save as in MS office format - for free.

We also use CSV files a lot and having built in regex in Calc makes it powerful for data analysis.

I have it installed on my PC to edit PDF files without alternate tools, compatible with all MS Office files.

  ### 13. Open Source LibreOffice democratized office productivity for all

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Seamus P. | Dr, Public Relations and Communications, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2024

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

LibreOffice is free and open source, without the bondage that Microsoft 365 imposes by online subscriptions, and without the platform specificity of Apple Pages/Numbers/Keynote combo. It is an integrated office productivity suite that just works, especially on decent and modern hardware, whether Mac, Windows or Linux.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

Given that it is a monolithic tool that combines word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and more, it will have a large codebase and so you do need a decently modern hardware to run this well, especially if you are using it for large documents such as writing/editing textbooks or spreadsheets.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the main problems is cost, especially for a growing outfit that wants to contain costs going forward in an uncertain economy. Another issue is commericla and proprietary office productivity software such as Microsoft 365 forces us to be tied into a particular vendor and be straddled with a per-user subscription program, which I dislike as a cost containment strategy. And if we are on Apple Mac hardware, although Apple's separate productivity tools such as Pages, Numbers and Keynote are great tools, they are constrained to run only on Apple Macs and not on any other, which can be another problem for a business forced to run particular software on specific Apple hardware (usually more expensive than other harrdware). LibreOffice offers compatibility with the majority of users out there running Microsoft 365 or older offline tools, but no more.

  ### 14. Convenient for small scale work uses

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abin K. | Support engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2024

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

Its a very stable and simple software which can be used in all major OS platforms such as linux, windows and mac. Helps in simplifying work flow by making file sharing in cross department easier.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

I haven't encountered any major issues while using. However, the graphical interface is not much exciting.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use libreoffice mainly for optimizing the written data by alligning proper space before sending the work completion email. It is really helpful to store a copy of completed work in another format in our local system as well.

  ### 15. Complete productivity office suite

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fabio P. | Responsible Networks and Systems, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 04, 2024

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

It works fine for a Microsft Office replacement.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

It would be nice to have automatic updater.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LibreOffice can be used as a complete office suite, it is compatible with Microsoft Office files.

  ### 16. Free Open source Office

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

  ### 17. Convenient bug buggy

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fernando Z. | System Architecture, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2023

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

I am user of the spreadsheet section mostly.
Most of the functionality work out the box.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

About the same topic, it has several many buggy behaviors , some of them very nasty.

I wouldn't recommend if you need to work with 100% compatibility.
Undesiderable behaviros, unpredicted results in some cases.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basic spreadhseet use.
If you pretend use it with advanced features you will be dissapointed.

  ### 18. The best office suite available, both for personal and business use, is offered for free.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ram N. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2023

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

LibreOffice is a versatile and accessible office suite that is compatible with a wide range of operating systems, including Linux, Windows, and Mac. This makes it easy to share files across different platforms and maintain the same workflows. I find Writer and Calc, the LibreOffice equivalent of Word and Excel, to be packed with a wealth of features that are well-organized and provide a great user experience. Moreover, LibreOffice offers an extensive range of export options that include the most commonly used formats.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

LibreOffice is the ideal office suite for personal and business users as it is compatible with all major platforms such as Linux, Windows, and Mac, making it easy to share files and maintain consistency in workflow across different computers. The Writer and Calc features are packed with a range of features and offer a user-friendly interface. However, the addition of an email program would make LibreOffice a complete office solution, potentially replacing paid office programs. The current issue can be resolved by using the free and cross-platform email program Thunderbird.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LibreOffice offers a seamless cross-platform office suite experience, making it ideal for users like me who switch between different operating systems. Whether I'm using Linux or Mac, I can maintain my productivity and keep my content and workflow intact. It's a perfect solution for my needs and provides me with a familiar and consistent experience across all platforms.

  ### 19. Simply the best free office suite for personal and business users.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** M H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2022

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

LibreOffice is usable on ALL major platforms. Linux, Windows and Mac, it all simply works. This makes sharing files across the platforms an easy task and offers the same workflow when switching computers.
For most work, I use Writer and Calc, the Word and Excel variants of Libreoffice.
They are packed with a ton of features that you might expect in office programs in a great layout.
Also, the export features are plenty, not missing the top-used ones.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

The addition of a good email program would make this the nr. one complete office program and replacement of a famous, non-free office program.
Not a major problem in itself, but it would only give the ability to replace other paid office programs in itself.
For now, the problem can be solved by using Thunderbird, as it is also cross-platform and free to use.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Offering a full office suite experience across multiple platforms. Because I mainly use Linux as my work computer and sometimes switch to Mac, I want to be able to do this without losing any content and/or workflow.
LibreOffice offers this feature by providing me with the same experience across both platforms.

  ### 20. All the features of an excellent no-cost word processing program

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kirti P. | Regional Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2023

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

Despite being free software, it is highly stable and performs exceptionally well. There is no need to envy paid options, as it boasts an intuitive and professional interface, complete with all necessary tools for effectively managing any kind of information or creating various types of documents.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

While the graphical interface may appear somewhat outdated, it shouldn't be an issue for those who appreciate a retro aesthetic. Furthermore, I have yet to encounter any errors that would hinder my productivity.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using data management tables akin to those found in Excel, I have effectively organized our database of produced songs. Additionally, I have composed various administrative documents, including collection accounts, and exported them as PDFs for sending via email at a later time.

  ### 21. Not as good as Microsoft Office, but is a nice free option

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel C. | Desenvolvedor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2023

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

It is similar to the good old Microsoft Office, has an intuitive interface, is compatible with all operational systems, is free and open-source software, support for various file formats, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Points formats

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

For example, Microsoft Excel may have more advanced data analysis and visualization tools than LibreOffice Calc

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm responsible for extracting data from databases and inserting it into spreadsheets. LibreOffice has helped me because it's free and straightforward to use. so far it helped me.

  ### 22. Review of LibreOffice

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2023

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

From the name itself, it's free. No need to worry about paying to get the job done.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

It's not as extensive as it can be since it is a free program. Sometimes it's a little less unreliable unlike Microsoft Office.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used LibreOffice back when I was a student in highschool and university. It benefited me because I didn't have to worry about paying to work with office software.

  ### 23. The Best Competition for Microsoft!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin O. | Artist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2022

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

As I know it, LibreOffice is basically Microsoft Office Suite all in one, but with even more! The editor is hands-down far superior to Works, in my opinion, and their Excel tye data program also has more for me and is more user-friendly. The whole suite is more user-friendly and updated more often... but the best thing is it is free!

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

On occasion, it makes my screen go black but always comes back in a minute but that has not happened lately with new updates. Also, it is really just for Desktops and laptops and I need it for my tablet. I, however, have been using the program since the inception of Open Office and don't really write on my tablet anyway.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well, it is free! I refuse to pay for something everyone should have available and the Microsoft Suites used to be free, in part, now paid for, and it solves the financial problem. It also solves the problem of needing a professional-type editor, and more. Google Docs and workspace is much of that now but the book-writing capabilities of LibreOffice shine! I not only am a soon-to-be-published author but I need it for the copy or text of my Amazon.com descriptions for sales, and Etsy. eBay, and others.

  ### 24. Libre Office is Perfect!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott S. | Customer Consultations and Support, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2022

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

Microsoft has joined the cloud, and LibreOffice has not. Libre office continues to improve its features and functionality, even though other freeware products do not. It is very easy to maintain and install, and all of the documents can readily be shared with others using a myriad of products.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

The only downside I have experienced while using LibreOffice is in their Writer product.

I write letters, other documents, and also information which will be placed on the web. While I can view it as a formatted document for printing or view it as a web document, it does not save this way, and the document will always load formatted for printing. I would really appreciate it if how the document is viewed is saved as part of the document, so when retrieved it will be in the proper format.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As open software, you could take the time to program things for yourself. LibreOffice is continually updating features, fixing bugs, and making things smoother for the user.

  ### 25. It's an open-source application similar to Microsoft suites, featuring equivalent formulas

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pallavi A. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2023

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

This application is completely free, without any licensing fees, and open source. It supports all formats, including those produced by Microsoft or Google Sheets, and has its own format, the open document spreadsheet (.ods).

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

Unlike Microsoft or Google Sheets, it lacks online options for saving and sharing, automation, or online integration. While its formula support is good, its key shortcuts are fewer in comparison to Microsoft suites

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As previously mentioned, this application is entirely free and open-source, making it highly cost-effective from a business perspective. It also supports all formats.

  ### 26. One of the Best Office Suites Available

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ron F. | Humanities / Social Science Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2022

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

It is a top quality, continuously upgraded excellent office suite which does the job well and does it for free! To initial price, no subscriptions!

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

I do not really dislike the interface but it is ALMOST as good as that of its main competitors in my opinion. It could be a bit more eye-candy.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anything I need to use a good document editor for I can practically always use LibreOffice. It is a very good quality office suite.

  ### 27. LibreOffice: Free & Open Source Office Productivity Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Salini K. | Software Development Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2022

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

- It is free and open-source, so anyone can download it and use it on any operating system.
- Very easy to navigate dashboard.
- I can easily open or edit MS Office files in LibreOffice.
- It works smoothly and very powerful office tool for productivity office work.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

- The online collaboration feature is missing which is necessary.
- If I want to use templates then I have to install extra templates manually.
- More advanced functions should be there in LibreOffice.

**Recommendations to others considering LibreOffice:**

If you are looking for the best and most effective alternative to MS Office, I highly recommend LibreOffice because it is free to use and you can use LibreOffice in any operating system. LibreOffice is the best suitable program for small ventures or businesses. You must try LibreOffice once.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves a lot of problems in our business like making spreadsheets for clients and for our works made easy with LibreOffice. It is one of the good office suites for our office work because any employee can work on that free office suite program. We are using LibreOffice in our entire company because it is free and open source.

  ### 28. LibreOffice review from Chico Natural Foods Co-Op

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark W. | Receiver, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2022

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

LibreOffice is basically like a free version of Microsoft office, I like that the spreadsheets are intuitive and easy to use, they also have a great feature that allows multiple people to work on the same document

and there is a messaging interface that lets you leave questions for your collegues, who are working on the same project/spreadsheet.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

sometimes LibreOffice can lag a bit or run slow when you are first getting things started. Also, because its free/shareware there are a lot of updates to install, I think its worth it to not have to pay for office 365.

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

The best part about Libre Office is that it is an all in one office suite. It supports all my office files: Word, PowerPoint, Excel altogether. The best part is that it has cross-platform support and available for use across Windows, Linux and Mac. Even it supports Microsoft office files, which makes it even better as Microsoft office has still more market share than any other software. It has a clean, easy to use UI, and has all the features of MS office which makes it my favourite application for all my office needs, and that too available for free. Also, it is updated regularly, which makes it even better.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

I am using this basically on my Linux system, as it came preinstalled. I have not faced any issue so far.

**Recommendations to others considering LibreOffice:**

If you want a free and easy-to-use office suite that works exactly like MS office, just go for it without any second thought. It is surely the best open-source application in the market.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using LibreOffice for all my Office requirements. The major benefit I have realized from this app is that it completely overshadows MS Office. I don't require MS Office for any of my work now. LibreOffice fulfills all my needs and demands. I am using it for everything that I want to do with my office files.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nagarjuna R. | Backend Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2021

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

I use LibreOffice specifically on my Ubuntu Linux system as it comes bundled with it. The best part about this application is that it is highly customizable, easy to use with a similar interface to MS office. I never felt the need of MS office on switching to Linux system, where Microsoft office is not available. But LibreOffice does the job easily without any compatibility issues in opening office files. Moreover, it is free and open source, which make love it more!

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

I have been using LibreOffice for more than a year now, and I never felt any issue with it. Except that it still doesn't provide support to newer office file versions like MS Office 2019. Rest all is good.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The major benefit I have realized from this application is that I never felt the need to install a software like MS office in my Linux system to do my work. I am using this application for all my office work when I use my Linux machine.

This "office" system does everything that's needed in your office from word processing to presentations, with 100% compatibility to several other office-like products, and does it in a wonderful no-cost format.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

No e-mail software is included, but there are many alternatives, that can be used in conjunction with LibreOffice.

**Recommendations to others considering LibreOffice:**

Grab something from the public domain, such as "claws mail" or Mozilla Thunderbird to handle your e-mail.Although e-mail functionality would have been a nice feature in LibreOffice, it wasn't included in the package, likely due to the fact that there is an over abundance of e-mail utilities floating around for Linux, and Linux-y environments.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed a way to handle MS Word and MS Excel files under Linux. LibreOffice provides that, and more, including functions for rendering all work to Adobe PDF documents.

  ### 43. Easy, free, all-in-one set of tools for covering your basics in business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2021

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

The fact that this is free is the #1 reason my work chooses LibreOffice. But we would not use it if the program set did not get the job done. Document creator, spreadsheets, simple database projects, and more are valuable tools for me.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

LibreOffice doesn't have all the same presenting and formatting options that Microsoft Office does, but it has everything I commonly use in my role. I'd appreciate a few more fonts in the various programs and animations for the slide show tool.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LibreOffice helps me stay organized and create presentable deliverables to my supervisors and my customers. I appreciate how easy it is to pick up and learn because I never used LibreOffice before coming to my current place of work, and I needed to learn quickly.

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

* Its free!
* All the applications in the suite are compatible with each other.
* 90% of the functionality in Microsoft Office, and 100% of the functionality I use on a regular basis is in LibreOffice.
* It receives regularly updates, which means that most of the new file formats from Microsoft Office can be read before regular Microsoft Office users.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

* I can't think of anything I dislike.
* There is no email client in LibreOffice, so I use Mozilla Thunderbird instead.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used OpenOffice.org for office file processing from 2001-2011. LibreOffice was created as a fork of OpenOffice.org when Oracle bought Sun Microsystems in 2011, and I have used LibreOffice from version 3.4 instead since then.

  ### 45. Your free and powerful office suite.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

Excel macros are not supported. The compatibility issue persists when switching the file format. The graphs are basic, and manipulation is not as intuitive as it could be. They need to update the UI.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is free to use and most of the options are available for doing complex office work. Export to PDF option helps a lot. The various inbuild applications are able to import and export documents in a variety of well-known formats.

  ### 46. Best open-source Office Suite

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anirban G. | Graphic Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2021

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

The best part about LibreOffice is that it is free, open-source and highly customizable. I was a MS office user for more than ten years on my Windows system. LibreOffice has the exact same, rather more features than MS Office. It has an easy-to-use UI which can be customized as per my needs. My favorite application is LibreOffice Writer, the perfect and highly competent alternative to MS Word. It is regularly updated, which makes it even better.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

The only thing I don't like about this software is that it fails to provide support to files from the latest office build, MS Office 2019. The world is still using MS office, and hence it becomes necessary that this software should support the file format as well. Also, some more templates can be added in the software itself so that I need not have to sownload it manually. Rest all is good, I have not faced any issue.

**Recommendations to others considering LibreOffice:**

It is the best office suite in the market. Just go for it

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using LibreOffice for all my office needs. There's nothing for which I have to look at any other software. It is just the best application.

  ### 47. Open source office suite with industry-leading equivalent functionality

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2021

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

The interface is entirely customizable, allowing users to adapt to LibreOffice faster. Virtually all basic and intermediate spreadsheet and text editing tools are available. LibreOffice is one of the few open-source solutions that develop advanced solutions such as VBA language support; this allows many tasks to be performed natively, avoiding the use of an external solution and the misinterpretation that, for example, an automation system based on OCR or pattern recognition can cause. Another advantage is the direct contact with volunteer developers or even contributing to the development of this product.

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

The regular expression system is inferior to some competitors, and VBA compatibility is difficult to use as it requires several modifications to the original code to work correctly. Even though there are tools that convert VBA automation to LibreOffice compatibility mode, they are never perfect. The features work relatively well, but much of the existing code was made for slightly different platforms.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The market trend is to synchronize everything in the cloud. This brings advantages, but it also makes work difficult when you are not all the time connected to the corporate system. LibreOffice is a great office suite option that maintains all its functionality without the need to be connected to the internet. Therefore, this software is used for tasks where real-time collaboration is not required.

  ### 48. Document repository and sharing

**What do you dislike about LibreOffice?**

The short cut keys need to be arrange in well manner. Some times it get yang while copy and paste huge data from the different spreadsheet, else nothing to dislike.

**What problems is LibreOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The data formating issue was facing earlier in case of huge data. It takes time to rearrange all the component in the sheet. Now with LibreOffice it is quite easy.

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2021

**What do you like best about LibreOffice?**

I love the fact that I'm not tied to Microsoft Office. Microsoft has been extracting billions of dollars from home and business computer users while providing nothing of value. Libre Office is available for free on Linux, Windows, and Mac. Libre Office is the best alternative to MS Office. Libre Office is very similar to Microsoft Office. Libre Office includes word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and drawing tools. Libre Office is compatible with Microsoft Office. Libre Office is more secure, reliable, and faster than Microsoft Office. Libre Office is 100% free software.

Nothing as such, just some features are available in ms office but it comes with a price.
