"Straightforward UI and Strong Training Materials Enable Model-Based Transition"
4/5
What do you like best about Innoslate?

The user interface is straightforward. Documentation and training materials are good. Innoslate has allowed a model-based transition in some of our programs, but it has not been a complete uptake in the business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Innoslate?

It is not the tool of choice with current DoW customers. An interface with MBEE does not exist. It keeps all my data in the tool making it difficult to get on a path toward DE and convergence across the business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Liz Steiner of Innoslate

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad that Innoslate’s straightforward interface, documentation, and training resources have helped your teams transition toward model-based systems engineering and develop the MBSE artifacts your programs need.

We also appreciate your feedback on interoperability and digital engineering convergence. Connecting engineering data across tools is an important part of that transition. Innoslate supports integration through its REST API, along with integrations and interfaces for tools such as MATLAB and STK. Our CAD viewer also helps teams bring CAD data into Innoslate and generate connected asset diagrams. We continue to expand these capabilities as digital engineering environments evolve.

We’re also proud to support teams across the Department of War and the broader defense community, and we value feedback from engineers working within these complex tool environments.

Thank you for taking the time to share both what is working well and where you would like to see Innoslate continue to improve.

"Innoslate as a Single Source of Truth with Powerful Audit and Traceability"
5/5
What do you like best about Innoslate?

The main advantage of using Innoslate is that it provides a single source of truth for project requirements, supported by its audit and trace functionality. This makes it much easier to ensure that both customer and technical requirements are clearly documented, properly linked, fully traceable, and consistently validated and verified. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Innoslate?

The learning curve is steep, but still manageable. There are many integrated functions, along with built-in requirements linking. For me, the biggest learning point was getting a clear understanding of all the tools available within Innoslate and how they fit together. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Collaborative and Intuitive Tool for Engineering Courses"
4/5
What do you like best about Innoslate?

I like that Innoslate is somewhat easy to set up, and the interface is not cluttered. It's great as a collaborative tool, which is valuable for my students who work from different places and need a tool that allows for remote collaboration and is intuitive. Plus, everything being synced up in the cloud is definitely an asset. Also, the fact that it's free and offers educational licenses without costing anything for my students and program is a significant benefit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Innoslate?

Some of the knowledge base materials were not up to date, which I was using as guides for implementing exercises and projects in my course. Some of them referred to interface elements of previous versions, so the company needs to update their guides and knowledge base. It would also be beneficial to provide more up-to-date guides, practice problems, and case studies that people can implement to get more familiar with the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Liz Steiner of Innoslate

Thank you for sharing your experience using Innoslate with your students. We’re glad the cloud-based platform makes it easier for students to collaborate from different locations and that our free educational licenses help make MBSE more accessible in the classroom.

We also appreciate your feedback on our learning resources. Keeping training materials aligned with the latest version of Innoslate is important, especially for instructors building exercises and coursework around the platform. We recently launched the SPEC Innovations Learning Hub at learn.specinnovations.com with Innoslate on-demand courses, guided learning resources, and weekly coaching sessions. We’re continuing to expand these resources with more practical ways for students and professionals to build their skills.

Thank you for bringing Innoslate into your classroom and for helping the next generation of systems engineers gain hands-on experience with MBSE.

"Clean, Intuitive Cloud-Based MBSE Tool That’s Ideal for Students on PC or Mac"
5/5
What do you like best about Innoslate?

I use Innoslate to teach model-based systems engineering. Because it’s a cloud-based software application, students on either a PC or a Mac can start using it right away without needing to install anything on their computers. This is especially valuable for Mac users, who often have to rely on virtualization to run other MBSE software.

The user interface is clean and intuitive, which makes it easy for students to get oriented and begin working quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Innoslate?

Some of the SysML diagramming may not be fully compliant with the standards, and this is especially true for the sequence diagram. As a workaround, I use the LML-compliant action diagram to capture the subtleties that would normally be represented in a fully SysML-compliant sequence diagram. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Liz Steiner of Innoslate

Thank you for sharing how you are using Innoslate in the classroom. We are glad to hear that the cloud based platform has made it easy for students to get started right away regardless of whether they are using a PC or a Mac. Providing quick access without installation is something many academic programs appreciate, especially when teaching MBSE concepts to a diverse group of students.

It is also great to hear that the user interface has helped students get oriented quickly. One of our goals with Innoslate is to reduce the learning curve so teams and students can focus on systems thinking and modeling rather than spending time learning complicated tools.

We appreciate your thoughtful feedback on SysML diagramming and sequence diagram compliance. Innoslate is built around Lifecycle Modeling Language (LML), which is designed to simplify model based systems engineering while still supporting many SysML concepts. We understand that some users rely on specific SysML diagram conventions, and feedback like yours helps inform how we continue improving modeling and diagramming capabilities within the platform.

Thank you again for the work you are doing to teach MBSE and for including Innoslate as part of that experience. We appreciate your review and your contribution to the Innoslate community.
