Hello, my name is Cesar Marquez and I direct LTL, an analytical lab situated in Rhode Island and specialized in cannabis products. Here we perform analytical tests concerning potency, pesticides, heavy metals, to name a few, and we do so within a highly regulated environment.

We use CloudLIMS as management system. Having evaluated the options available on the market, CloudLIMS was the only system capable of responding to our expectations. From the moment a group of samples arrives at the lab until they are disposed of, CloudLIMS registers all steps performed and the results obtained, maintaining an updated chain of custody. It is easy to use on daily basis, with a set of default values implemented for repetitive actions. This is something that our administration and scientists appreciate.

CloudLIMS facilitates the uploading of sample information directly from METRC’s Transport Manifest (METRC is the Management System chosen by Rhode Island’s DBR to overview the industry), or you can upload it from the Chain of Custody form. It also performs all required calculations for the different tests; it imports the results from different machines and formats in an agile manner, and through the pertinent algorithms, it prepares in a supervised manner, the Certificates of Analysis. Finally, the results are also communicated directly to METRC and QuickBooks, this last one for billing.

CloudLIMS also has a very compelling client portal. There, our customers can not only order new pickups in a comfortable way but can also follow the analysis of samples in real time and download CoAs and QRs on demand. The client’s portal is intuitive, so new clients learn to use it almost effortlessly.

Finally, CloudLIMS allows a full control of logbooks, inventory, clients and maintenance of instrumental. But in my opinion, the most important feature of CloudLIMS is their team’s professionalism, specifically their dedication and commitment. There is a dedicated team for us, and its response to any technical challenge is almost immediate, commonly in less than 24h. Any update or upgrade is implemented on demand; their team is always ready and willing to accommodate our needs.

The software has all of the important LIMS features without the large number of user accounts required by competiting LIMS providers. The cloud based software provides easy access from any browser and because the software runs in the cloud, organizations with smaller IT budgets can save on maintaining software and data storage on site. The initial configuration was not setup for an environmental laboratory, many of the built in fields on the sample and test screens had to be modified by CloudLIMS during the setup process. This gives the impression that they are new to environmental labs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

One area for improvement is the initial learning curve that comes with transitioning from spreadsheets to a full LIMS platform. While expected, it does require some training and adjustment for staff to get fully comfortable. Additionally, although CloudLIMS performs reliably overall, searches and reports involving very large datasets can occasionally take a little longer to load, which is understandable given the volume of records being managed. Well once you enter the software it is user friendly and easy to navigate. The training on using Cloudlims due to the simple structure can flow easily and be integrated into the current system and with the inventory sections and other onboarding features data can be stored easily for daily use. The system can be used for everyday processes within the lab space to provide the service the clients require and solve their issues in a timely manner plus with the best customer service in the world , our questions can be answered in real time and we can in turn be of great service to our internal and exterrnal client base. The ability to customize the information stored for biological samples, how it's displayed and who has access to see it, is very useful for our small laboratory operation.
