# Which case management system is most cost-effective for small practices?

I am helping a few small firms evaluate case management platforms, and one of the biggest priorities is cost-effectiveness. They need something reliable for case tracking, client communication, and billing, but without the overhead (and price tag) of enterprise-level tools. So I researched a bit on G2 and from the grid data and reviews, here’s what stands out:

Clio Manage: The market leader with broad adoption and lots of integrations. Feature-rich, but pricing may be higher than what some very small firms want.

Filevine: Strong satisfaction and good balance of features. Might be more than solo or very small firms need, but scalable as they grow.

8am MyCase: Popular with small to mid-sized firms. Offers solid case management, billing, and a great client portal at a competitive price point.

Assembly Neos: Very high satisfaction scores and flexibility, but market presence suggests it’s more common in mid-sized firms.

Smokeball: Known for automation and ease of use, which saves time for smaller teams. Pricing can vary, but often praised for ROI.

8am CasePeer: Built specifically for personal injury firms, with lower market presence but may be very cost-effective for niche practices.

For those of you in small firms, which case management system gave you the best value for money, balancing features with affordability?

Also, for small firms, do you find it more cost-effective to go with an all-in-one platform (case management + billing + client comms) or keep things lean with separate tools that each do one job really well?
