I’m comparing a few employee intranet tools for a small tech team. I want something that supports internal communication, knowledge sharing, and team collaboration without being overkill or overly complex.
Here are some of the top options I found on G2. Curious if anyone here has used any of them and what your experience was:
A longtime player in the intranet space, SharePoint offers powerful document management and integration with Microsoft 365. It’s ideal if your company already relies heavily on Microsoft tools. However, it may feel clunky or require admin effort for smaller teams without IT support.
Workvivo is built to feel more like a social platform, making it a great option for boosting employee engagement. It includes internal communications, activity feeds, shout-outs, and integrations with existing tools. A solid pick for culture-focused tech startups.
Guru is more of a knowledge management solution, but it works well as a lightweight intranet, especially for fast-moving tech teams. It integrates directly into your workflows (Slack, Chrome, etc.) and focuses on surfacing verified, up-to-date info when you need it.

Designed for deskless and distributed teams, Connecteam includes communication tools, task management, time tracking, and more. It’s mobile-first, which is great for remote tech teams or hybrid setups. Depending on your use case, it may be more feature-rich than needed.
Softr lets you build a fully customized internal portal or intranet site—without coding. It’s built on Airtable, so if your team already uses Airtable to manage content or internal processes, this might be a flexible and fast way to set up an intranet tailored to your needs.
