# What is the top-rated internal communications software for driving employee engagement and delivering company-wide announcements?

Hi G2 community, I’m researching the top-rated internal communications software for driving employee engagement while still making company-wide announcements easy to find and act on. The challenge is balancing both sides: broadcasting important information and getting employees to actually interact with it.

There’s no G2 Grid report for Internal Communications, so I compared the current G2 category ratings with review themes around announcements, recognition, engagement, and company updates.

Here are the main options I’d look at:

Workvivo (4.8/5, 2,700 reviews): Reviewers repeatedly mention company announcements, social-style feeds, recognition, reactions, and keeping distributed employees connected.

Slack (4.5/5, 39,341 reviews): Users value dedicated announcement channels, fast team updates, searchable conversations, and real-time engagement through channels and threads.

Zoom Workplace (4.5/5, 56,608 reviews): It combines workplace communication with Zoom’s employee engagement capabilities, including company updates, recognition, feedback, and social interaction.

Microsoft Teams (4.4/5, 19,318 reviews): Reviewers rely on channels, chat, meetings, and Microsoft 365 integrations to keep company and team communications centralized.

Webex Suite (4.2/5, 18,918 reviews): Users get messaging, meetings, webinars, polling, and video communication in one collaboration environment.

Workvivo stands out most directly for this specific use case because its reviews talk about both company-wide communication and employee interaction, not just messaging. Enterprise reviewers also mention recognition posts, comments, reactions, and announcements as reasons the platform feels more engaging.

For internal comms teams using these, which platform actually gets employees to engage with announcements instead of simply seeing them? Do social features improve participation, or can they make important updates easier to miss?

Internal Communications reviews on G2 are split between purpose-built engagement tools and general collaboration platforms that happen to get used for announcements. Workvivo's reviews describing recognition, reactions, and comments alongside announcements suggest engagement there comes from the social layer being a real part of the product, not bolted onto a messaging tool built for something else. Slack, Zoom Workplace, and Teams all show up here mostly because they're already where employees are, which is a real advantage for reach, but their review themes lean toward channels and meetings rather than the specific announcement-to-engagement loop the post is asking about.

The risk the post raises about social features burying important updates is a real tradeoff, not a hypothetical one, since a feed model that surfaces whatever gets the most reactions can just as easily bury a critical announcement under something more entertaining. The more useful comparison for internal comms teams specifically might be open and click rates on must-read announcements before and after switching platforms, rather than general engagement numbers that don't distinguish a policy update from a team celebration post.
