# What is the most cost-effective legal billing solution for small firms?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Hey everyone, looking for some advice. We’re a small firm, and billing is one of the biggest time drains. We need something that makes invoicing, time tracking, and payments easier without blowing the budget on enterprise-level software.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">From the G2 Grid, here are some of the <a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/legal-billing-software">legal billing platforms</a> I’ve been looking at:</p><ul>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/clio-clio-manage/reviews"><strong>Clio Manage</strong></a><strong>:</strong> Full practice management with strong billing features. Top-rated, but not sure about the cost.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/8am-mycase/reviews"><strong>8am MyCase</strong></a><strong>:</strong> Good all-in-one platform with solid billing tools, payments, and client portal integration. Seems well-suited for smaller firms.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/8am-lawpay/reviews"><strong>8am LawPay</strong></a><strong>: L</strong>ooks like a go-to for legal-specific payments, great if you just want billing and payment processing without a full practice management platform.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/smokeball/reviews"><strong>Smokeball</strong></a><strong>:</strong> Includes time tracking and billing automation, popular with small and mid-sized firms looking to cut down on admin work.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/paradigm-practicepanther/reviews"><strong>PracticePanther</strong></a><strong>:</strong> Affordable option with built-in billing, though reviews suggest it’s not as polished as some of the leaders.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/bill4time/reviews"><strong>Bill4Time</strong></a><strong>:</strong> Known for being budget-friendly with solid billing features, even if it doesn’t have the same market presence as bigger platforms.</li>
</ul><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">For those of you in small firms, which platform has been the most <strong>cost-effective</strong> for billing? Do you lean toward dedicated tools like LawPay/Bill4Time, or go for all-in-one systems like MyCase or Clio?</p>

&lt;p&gt;I’m also curious, for small firms, is it smarter to keep billing/payments separate with a tool like LawPay or Bill4Time, or do you save more headaches by rolling everything into an all-in-one system like Clio or MyCase? What&#39;s been your experience? &lt;/p&gt;
