Backlog

Every home-service business has the same three piles: quotes that went quiet, repairs the customer put off, and equipment quietly ageing past the point where it should have been replaced. They sit in the field software nobody has an afternoon to sort through. None of it is a lead problem — you already paid to win these customers once. Backlog reads an ordinary export — CSV or Excel, from ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, FieldEdge or a spreadsheet somebody keeps by hand — and finds eleven kinds of recoverable revenue in it. Two columns are the minimum: a customer name and an amount. What makes the ranking different is that it is arithmetic you can audit rather than a black box. Every record gets an expected value: what the job is worth multiplied by the odds of closing it. Equipment is judged against its own service life, so a thirteen-year water heater is flagged and a thirteen-year boiler is not. Timing, contact history, maintenance plans, lead source and the season all move the number, and you can open the calculation on any record and see exactly how it got there. The whole model is published at trybacklog.com/method. It then tells you whether to call, text or email, and drafts the message. It never sends anything — you press send. Do-not-contact, opt-outs, quiet hours and a three-day gap between touches are enforced before a record is ever offered. The free scorer runs entirely in your browser. Your customer file is not uploaded and there is no account to create.
