Unikum

Unikum Preschool is daycare software and an app for pedagogical documentation, curriculum-based planning, parent communication and quality development in early childhood education (Kitas), after-school care (Hort) and all-day programmes, as well as for operators (Träger) and multi-site organisations in Germany. It is developed by Unikum Net AB (Sweden). More than 6,000 centres in Germany and Scandinavia use it, with over 1 million users in total. Is Unikum the right fit? Parent communication grows out of documentation here and supports the educational partnership with families (Bildungs- und Erziehungspartnerschaft). Features: – Pedagogical documentation: Observations, portfolios and developmental milestones linked to the educational curricula of all German federal states, e.g. the Bavarian BEP and the Lower Saxony Orientierungsplan. – Custom observation forms: Create your own observation forms and learning matrices, e.g. for language, motor skills, engagement (Engagiertheit) or group-level learning assessments. No fixed form catalogues. – Unikum Share: Share and use self-created forms and matrices within the Unikum network. – Parent communication (Family App): Parent letters, GDPR-compliant chat and bidirectional AI-powered real-time translation. Development dialogue (Entwicklungsgespräch): digital appointment booking, parents invited via the app, learning logs and materials from the Kita for preparation and follow-up at home. – Attendance: Check-in and check-out on tablets, absence management, also for after-school care and all-day programmes. – Unikum Quality (provider and quality management): Dashboards, role and permission management across multiple sites, reports. The AI assistant Unikum Flow helps teams analyse, understand and interpret the quality data shown in Unikum Quality and makes it easier to record and save well-founded quality analyses. It does not suggest pedagogical actions or descriptions: pedagogical interpretation stays with the team.
