[What are some of the highest-rated enterprise information archiving platforms for compliance teams executing multi-channel retention mandates?](/discussions/what-are-some-of-the-highest-rated-enterprise-information-archiving-platforms-for-compliance-teams-executing-multi-channel-retention-mandates)

We're researching which [enterprise information archiving platforms](https://www.g2.com/categories/enterprise-information-archiving) are preferred by compliance teams who need to execute formal retention mandates across every communication channel their organization uses and not just email.

1. [**Smarsh**](https://www.g2.com/products/smarsh-smarsh/reviews): Best for compliance teams executing formal FINRA/SEC multi-channel retention mandates. Has a unified archive across Bloomberg, Teams, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, social media, and email with supervised review workflows.
2. [**Global Relay**](https://www.g2.com/products/global-relay/reviews): Best for broker-dealers and asset managers needing WORM-compliant multi-channel retention aligned with SEC Rule 17a-4 and CFTC 1.31.
3. [**Cryoserver**](https://www.g2.com/products/cryoserver/reviews): Email plus Teams and WhatsApp archiving meeting regulatory obligations (GDPR, FCA, HCA) with tamper-evident storage.
4. [**Google Vault**](https://www.g2.com/products/google-vault/reviews): Best for Google Workspace compliance teams. Simultaneous retention policy enforcement across Gmail, Chat, Drive, and Meet in a single administrative action.
5. [**Arctera Enterprise Vault**](https://www.g2.com/products/arctera-enterprise-vault/reviews): Best for Microsoft ecosystem multi-source retention mandates. Has consolidated legal holds across email, Teams, SharePoint, and file servers.

Which channel expansion has created the most complexity for your compliance team's retention mandate — Teams, WhatsApp, social media, or a channel adopted faster than your archiving program could keep up?

WhatsApp being a named channel for both Smarsh and Global Relay is good to see, that's still the biggest gap for most firms trying to claim full multi-channel coverage.

[What are some enterprise information archiving tools with fast eDiscovery search and easy export for regulatory audits?](/discussions/what-are-some-enterprise-information-archiving-tools-with-fast-ediscovery-search-and-easy-export-for-regulatory-audits)

We're exploring which [enterprise information archiving tools](https://www.g2.com/categories/enterprise-information-archiving) deliver search speed and export quality that hold up under the time pressure of regulatory examinations, litigation holds, and Subject Access Requests.

1. [**Cryoserver**](https://www.g2.com/products/cryoserver/reviews): Best for fast eDiscovery search across large email archives, with keyword, sender, recipient, and date filtering used directly for Subject Access Requests, GDPR Data Subject Access Requests, and Freedom of Information requests.
2. [**Google Vault**](https://www.g2.com/products/google-vault/reviews): Best for Google Workspace eDiscovery, with robust search across Gmail, Drive, Chat, and Meet. Export requires .mbox format and lacks deduplication.
3. [**Smarsh**](https://www.g2.com/products/smarsh-smarsh/reviews): Best for financial services regulatory examination search and export; exam-ready reporting built specifically for FINRA and SEC inspections with compliance-managed search across all captured channels.
4. [**Mimecast Cloud Archive**](https://www.g2.com/products/mimecast-mimecast-cloud-archive/reviews): Well-suited for fast email eDiscovery; sub-12-second search SLA with tamper-resistant chain-of-custody retention and legal holds deployed at Genesee Regional Bank and SBI Pension Funds.
5. [**Arctera Enterprise Vault**](https://www.g2.com/products/arctera-enterprise-vault/reviews): Well-suited for multi-source Microsoft ecosystem eDiscovery, with near-real-time indexing across email, Teams, and SharePoint, and minimal staff time for eDiscovery case management.

Which part of your eDiscovery process has created the most regulatory audit pressure — search speed, export format, or legal hold management?

Export format is always worth testing before you're under pressure. The .mbox limitation for Google Vault has caught more than a few teams off guard during actual productions.

[Which enterprise information archiving tools simplify compliance without complex policy configurations and training?](/discussions/which-enterprise-information-archiving-tools-simplify-compliance-without-complex-policy-configurations-and-training)

We're researching the simplest-to-operate compliance archiving tools from the[](https://www.g2.com/categories/enterprise-information-archiving)[Enterprise Information Archiving category](https://www.g2.com/categories/enterprise-information-archiving).

**What lean compliance teams are actually looking for:**

- A platform that end-users can operate themselves for basic retrieval, without filing IT tickets
- Retention and capture that runs automatically after initial setup, without ongoing monitoring
- An interface consistent enough across versions that training is a one-time investment, not a recurring one
- Compliance policy tools operable by compliance staff without IT involvement for day-to-day workflows
- Honest signal on where configuration complexity is real

Here are 5 such tools.

1. [**Cryoserver**](https://www.g2.com/products/cryoserver/reviews): Best for lean teams needing low-maintenance compliance archiving. Consistent UI across versions eliminates retraining, and end-users retrieve their own archived emails without IT.
2. [**Google Vault**](https://www.g2.com/products/google-vault/reviews): Best for Google Workspace teams needing zero-ongoing-administration compliance. Retention policies set once, run automatically with no complex procedures and organization-wide automated retention eliminates per-department configuration.
3. [**Mimecast Cloud Archive**](https://www.g2.com/products/mimecast-mimecast-cloud-archive/reviews): Well-suited for organizations needing end-user-transparent compliance. Comes with automatic tamper-resistant capture requiring no end-user training or behavior change.
4. [**Smarsh**](https://www.g2.com/products/smarsh-smarsh/reviews): Best for compliance teams needing to operate supervised review independently from IT, though initial policy and lexicon setup requires more configuration investment than set-and-forget platforms.
5. [**CrashPlan Platform**](https://www.g2.com/products/crashplan-platform/reviews): Well-suited for email and endpoint compliance archiving with set-once policy automation. Backups run based on a pre-defined policy with no need to monitor.

Which aspect of compliance archiving has created the most ongoing administration burden for your team, and which platform has come closest to eliminating it?

I think for lean teams, the ongoing administration burden matters as much as the initial setup. A platform that needs constant tuning just shifts the problem rather than solving it.
